Man I'm tired of hearing insecure men hedging about how gay they aren't when they start talking about enjoying creature comforts. You're a dude so you have to enjoy pounding concrete for twelve hours in the 110 degree sun and go to bed stinking like the jobsite?

Most important thing is probably the pictures they used to sell these things, they make a simple piece of wood look very very cozy!
@wej0w6 ай бұрын
Yes the finishing of the cheap wood making it look high quality old wood, and a photo that displays the products in a warm room that is very nicely decorated and have some ambient light to make everything seems just so good, are some of the main sell tricks of these kind of projects.
@davidlang444223 күн бұрын
Yes and truth be told very few sales through the mail. Shipping is a killer. The money to be made in woodworking is selling plans and making videos about making items to sell. . Most of the things you see on the videos, they don't actually sell them except maybe at a local flea market. That isn't easy either. Booth rents, setup, collecting taxes and remitting it to your state, travel time, weather issues, storage of your handmade little treasures, disappointed sales days where you don't even break even. Then there are the copycats selling items just like yours at a much lower price, the gaul of those folks!! etc. So plan your wood working around making one thing and video the process and then post the video up on you tube. You might get popular and make some money the easy way. There is no money in any widget you can make.

I was trying to work out the mountain shelf and figure out how it was 36" long and only 5" high. Because it really didn't make sense dimensionally. Turns out I was correct after rewatching your post. It's 36" long and 15.5 " high. In your post, the arrow is covering the 1, but I caught in the description. I'm not sure how these would actually sell, but unlike the negative commentary, I'm going to at least give them a try. Thanks for the post.

I'm thinking about doing this, trying to keep in mind key thingsI think about when shopping online- items under $30 are really attractive, keep it cheaper than others in its category, offer many colors, have close up shots and shots from all angles and have exact dimensions for height, width, depth, spacing etc and disclose what materials its made out of. Transparency is a big plus and shows competency.
Great video Are! Can't wait to try these projects out!

0:50 That line right there is a great lesson to learn in general; easy _for you_ does not equal easy for everyone else. As the saying goes, "I spent 10 years learning how to do that in 30 minutes; you're paying for the years, not the minutes." That being said, anybody paying $80+ for those towel racks at the beginning is living proof of another old saying, "A fool and his money are soon parted."

So 2x2s? Yes, that would definitely work as well :)
@aieeejo10 ай бұрын
@@AreBaloni Thanks - I wasn't sure if there was a reason that wasn't obvious about using the full size, other than maybe the 'rustic' farmhouse appearance. Here in the US, most of our walls are made with gypsum drywall, which is pretty soft. So the weight of things we hang on those walls really matters. The lighter the better.
@CelticCannonCreations10 ай бұрын
@aieeejo it would also have the benefit of reducing materials and make more product. One 2x4 would make more parts. Good call.
