In any business, don't reinvent the wheel. You just did that with good success. Very nice and I appreciate the transparency.

...a candle? directly on the wood?? Make sure customers have a working fire alarm and fire extinguisher - and prepare for law suits, coz that is like selling them a Fire hazard

Cutting board are usually not really something that people get excited about, plus in most countries they are sold for very cheap making them very low profit market. I get that yours are different because they are custom engraved with your laser tool. Also, a private christian school!? 😅 That is something I never heard of. I thought maybe something like restaurant's, food trucks, BBQ places, etc... Would be interested in big batches with their logo/brand on it. You could expand that idea by creating/buying a set of wooden cooking utensils and obviously do the same process of just sanding and laser engraving.

Why does your lumber look so much better than lumber in the US? It also looks like it's actually 4x4 or 2x8 instead of 3.5 x 3.5 and 1.5 x 7.5 like it is in the US.

Calculating profit margin that way doesn't include your time. That method of calculating is fine if you were going to calculate the hourly rate you were paid, but it's not correct to say that you made a $6k profit on cutting boards when you didn't include labor costs. ESPECIALLY as a single-employee woodworking shop where working on one project prevents you from working on another project. So, what was the ROI on these cutting boards? How long did it take you to make all of the cutting boards that produced this $6k "profit"? To be clear, I know you bought the cutting boards, but you had to engrave them, sand them and finish them. If you worked on other projects while each one was being engraved, then that would save time as well. I'd just like to know the final number. I think it would be more informative than just the sales minus cost number.

0:50 That line right there is a great lesson to learn in general; easy _for you_ does not equal easy for everyone else. As the saying goes, "I spent 10 years learning how to do that in 30 minutes; you're paying for the years, not the minutes." That being said, anybody paying $80+ for those towel racks at the beginning is living proof of another old saying, "A fool and his money are soon parted."
