The AirLite Drop Point is my absolute favorite EDC knife (and I actually like the jimping, which I don't find to be too sharp). My other favorite EDC is the Civivi Riffle...about the same weight as the AirLite, but thicker scales (micarta), bearings for the pivot, and a slicey blade.

The link is my favorite Kershaw, have both the 20CV and M390 versions. Both were under $80. I can live with an assisted opening if the value and materials are there. Great call on the Astor.

Great format Aaron, hitting the highlights gets to the point. This video would be cool with all types of gear you've done over the years, bottles, bags, hatchets fixed blades. Your video editing is on point and makes for a good time.

For years I have been a fan of the Kershaw Link 1776BW. I really do enjoy carrying as an EDC and have used it in heavy workloads. I like it so much, I picked up another black/black version. I tied lanyards for each one and they are great for me. This knife is a good weight, easily goes in and out of pockets regardless of the material. there is an M390 version with aluminum handles, but I am not a fan of the aluminum. If anything, I would like to see this knife in canvas micarta and the M390. Note: although much is said about preference for manual rather than assisted, I do enjoy this assisted design. I am able to easily close the blade, and yet the deployment is good. I have a couple $200 knives, but I reach for this one every day. Thanks!

I have the Kershaw blur and the air lite with a tanto blade. I love the manual because it's going to open, it's reliable but the asisted in the Kershaw is fast, more easy to operate. I end carrying the blur every day. The link looks good man, it's in my list. Great video Aaron, keep up the good work 👍

The Gerber Downrange Auto is a great cutting tool. Got it only for the handle, it grips my palm securely & comfortably. It feels like it is made for my hands both left & right. Mod the blade giving it abit of a belly making it an excellent outback edc for small game while camping. Great segment GT. Hope life on the road is as fun as it may be challenging. Stay safe folks. I carry my CS AirLite when I really want to be discrete and have a low visible knife 'print'. It carries very thin but is still tough enough for most day-to-day scenarios and is usable - love it. I agree with the Stretch. It is a very good user (finger choil is very comfortable & user friendly) but the blade shape isn't for everyone. I would easily recommend it over an Endela. Unfortunately Spyderco pricing also goes against it - there are a number of better priced options. Thanks for the vid.

I put that knife through absolute hell . I've had Kershaw Link for almost 2 years now and it's a freaking tank . Gerber 06 Auto is my favorite Auto and I've been using it for years . Benchmade ADAMAS is my bomb Proof Folder . If this bad boy breaks hell is going to freeze over . Im gonna be in the market for bomb Proof 5" Fixed blade . I've narrowed it down to.. As usual, great review. However, you and other reviewers seem to downplay assisted opening knives such as Kershaw and ZT make. For those that have hand issues such as arthritis, the assisted knives are awesome. My thumbs just don't have the dexterity anymore to use manual-open knives. I suggest that you do a vid on the best assisted knives. Once again, thank you for an awesome vid.

You should check out the Statgear Ausus Slim. D2 Steel G10 scales. I bought 4 of them when they had a kickstarter. Great knives every one. Amazing action and a super fun blade shape, kinda like a oversized Benchmade Osborne. The knife is not at all slim though lol, its easily one of my chunkiest folders I have. I've used it for chopping and mild batoning though so I can attest to its strength.

G'day Aaron, good idea to show some of the less mainstream folders out there. Many many many more worthy possibilities of course, lol. Admittedly most of mine are well known and popular; in fairness, for good reason. One that comes to mind immediately though, especially for value, is the Ruike P105, (Fang), in 14C, running on bearings with layered G10 scales, that will suit large size hands ; ) great action, no blade play and currently 37 USD @ Blade HQ. It is one of only a couple of china manufactured knives I own, but it is a solid tool that I use regularly, I would go as far as to say; the best bang for buck EDC folder I have. Cheers Duke. P.S. btw I personally dont mind whatever format, good to see ya mate and the content is always very considered and valuable. I love that you have thrown in some additional entertaining touches now and then. I guess change it up to suit the subject/intent of the vid i.e. an overview or detailed review/discussion. @ the end of the day, all good in the wood !!!!!

Cold Steel AirLite is most certainly a go to hard use reasonably priced pocket knife. Maybe the king in its class. Spyderco is always a good bet, even the Spyderco Tenacious in 8CR holds up to use and is a good value for what it is. And of course you can always get the Tenacious in higher grade blade steel.

Got my Link on sale for only $75 last year, which is unbelievable for 20CV. I've paid more for D2. The only thing I will say is that Kershaw 20CV seems to be a bit softer and more porous than the same steel on their Kai Zero Tolerance line. Just doesn't stay as sharp quite as long, but for nearly $200 less I can live with it. I can also live with the assisted opening, which ZT has in their very similar 3.25" 0770 models. You could always de-assist it I guess, but I never bothered. I have a ton of Cold Steel, bought my first in 1987 or so, but I'm just not a fan of the AUS-10 they're using now. I got better performance from the AUS-8 they used for years, but maybe that's just because they changed hands recently, or maybe that the one and only CS I ever received that was amazingly butter knife dull (the Gunsite Counter Tac) was in this steel. It honestly looked like they forgot to sharpen it at the factory, while most CS knives will cut you if you look at them hard. I need to give it one more chance I guess, but usually get their S35VN now. That Astor rocks my favorite Carpenter steel, which I have on a Spydie Chaparral and Cold Steel had for a while as well on some models (Ultimate Hunter), and is definitely on my list along with a Spartan Harsey folder. BTW, that Spyderco Stretch 2 blade is almost an exact copy of the first one-hand opening knife Sal Glesser developed that was introduced in 1981, the "Workman," with stainless steel scales. Funny, over 40 years later and that "birdshead" design is still solid. Thanks for the intro to the Gerber Downrange; I wasn't familiar with it. I love Tantos and have a lot of them, but in this category I have the same Benchmade Adamas you have (can't recall if you have the standard 275-1 or the 2750 auto) , which is a premium badass auto knife in CruWear. This looks cool though, and would be a nice companion to that Adamas plain drop point. I've never cared for the military issued Gerber 06, even though lots of guys swear by them, they just seem slow and I gather there's spring issues over time. (?) I definitely like this format for your views on stuff. 8-10 minutes on knives or other gear; you have a great presentation style that lends itself to quick, clean gear wrap-ups. You can also still provide more in-depth reviews for items that you think justify it. What about more on specific camping items you might need for different types of terrain / weather / conditions? I'm sure someone in a Montana fall or winter has different requirements than someone out near a lake in the summer. (?) You definitely have the outdoor knowledge to cover most situations I think. Just a suggestion. Anyway, great job as always! 👍

I was really disappointed when I received the Air Lite. Don't know why Cold Steel pushes the price up so much when they add G10. I appreciate the video, but I don't think I use the term "fully ambidextrous" the way that you do. having a reversible pocket clip helps, but a liner lock or frame lock always works better with one hand or the other. I understand fully ambidextrous to mean that you can have the same experience using something with either hand, such as a lockback with a reversible pocket clip. Again, I appreciate the review, but that was a detail that threw me off a bit.

I'm a coldsteel guy. Can't beat the tri-ad lock. I still carry the broken skull. I should grab one of those air-lites. I will not carry a liner lock had one fail. Everyone can say what they want after you realize how easily I could have lost use in a few fingers. I choose to have a real lock I can trust. I don't need to fidget that's something we trained not to do.

Factors made in the USA is a big plus. So many companies are now outsourcing out of the country.

I live in a Portland suburb. The people working at Kershaw are not a part of the Portland problem.

Aaron, I'd really appreciate it if you'd quit spending my money. Thanks in advance.
