Match cap XL suggestion) set spare rubber seal inside cap, then put spare round striker in cap. Next, take 2 cotton balls. 1 with good gob of Vaseline. Set the 2nd ball on that [sandwich]. Don't squish together. Put sandwich in cap to hold seal and striker in place. Don't allow Vaseline to touch striker. 😊

If you don’t want to buy a case you can flip the plates upside down and then they won’t damage anything in your bag.

I flip the diamond sides as well but the ceramic rods would still be vulnerable to cracking against other things in your bag. Also, the holes inside the work sharp have allowed metal fragments to go from one plate to the other. Use a metal brush to clean the plates first.

Just get a few out of the case and trow the extra strikers in as well. If the striker outside get wet you always have a dry one.

Only thing I use to sharpen my knives is Genuine Arkansas Pocket Knife Sharpening Stones Whetstones. paracord is to heavy and it stretches in rain. Try 5col Kevlar Parachute Cord.

Fire can be used for heating, cooking and providing light. Your fire starter kit should include a lighter, matches.😂😂

I will say that some of those items are neat particularly the last exotic item shown but I just don't like That the title does not match the items I would not say that these are 5 essential items there 4 redundant items. But I can appreciate what you're doing keep on trucking speed it up a little bit maybe throwing some Jazz music joking whatever music you like is fine I personally don't really like jazz.
@KnifeFanatic8 ай бұрын
I appreciate your comment. Our definition of what essential is, is subjective. And yes, I realize there is redundancy in these items. I look at it like this... 2 is 1 and 1 is none. What if you lose an item that aids in the building of a fire, and that was your only way of starting a fire? Thank you for your input, maybe I'll change something next time. But as far as this video, it looks like it's doing pretty good for me.

Thank you for your comment! This video wasn't about being UL. There are other videos on that. Or maybe you could suggest something yourself since you're a "UL backpacker". Thanks for watching!
@jelkel258 ай бұрын
There's a smaller, more importantly lighter Worksharp out there that will do the job when you could potentially have to walk your way out of a situation. Don't get me wrong, i really like your model of Worksharp but there's no way I'd haul it in a backpack. Pounds equals pain. If you have axes, machetes to sharpen a puck is a better, lighter option too. The cordage reel. Why not learn to spool (can't think of a better word) them properly yourself? OK, the reel doesn't weigh much but it's still bulk and no one can take knowledge away from you. Gadgets are fine but why not invest in yourself along with them and learn a few skills.
@KnifeFanatic8 ай бұрын
Just looked up a puck sharpener the "Lanksy dual grit puck" on Amazon. The puck weighs 2.88 ounces more than the worksharp field sharpener. The puck looks like it might be thicker as well, so I think the difference in volume is negligible, but in terms of weight, the puck weighs more. In terms of wrapping paracord, I don't think I'll have a problem with that. I've worked with line in my previous career field. This video was to demonstrate what I think are some vital pieces of survival gear in a SHTF situation. You're more than welcome to substitute these items for others. Having multiple ways to start a fire is essential, imo. 1 is none and 2 is 1. There are other channels that can demonstrate the uses of items such as these. Thanks for watching and commenting!
