I have been travelling mostly solo for the past 38 years and paying that dreaded 100% solo charge which I bitterly resent having to pay. However, I do agree there are many benefits to travelling solo and two benefits are upgrading to a balcony cabin on a cruise and always meeting interesting solo people to share activities and sometimes meals with.

Definitely agree that a balcony is worth the extra cost. I had always wanted to go on a cruise but my husband would not entertain it. After our divorce I went on a cruise with my mum sister and her MIL we had a room for 4 With a balcony it was expensive but definitely worth it. Really enjoying your vlogs Jen 😊

I’ve been on 2 cruises with a former partner. The first was a transatlantic 2-week cruise (my first ever) and we booked an inside cabin. I was often seasick and not having even a window did not help with the seasickness. Our second cruise was a 1-week Caribbean cruise and I insisted we at least splurge on a window room. Turns out it didn’t help much. It was just a little porthole. If I ever booked a cruise again I would only get a balcony room but I doubt I would ever do a cruise again for all the same reasons you mentioned in a previous video.

Bonine is great to take before you even board the ship. Then take it daily after the cruise leaves port. I never get sick. Another rule, book midship and close to the water line. Those cabins usually cost a bit more but you will feel the movement of the ship a lot less. My husband and I have been on 46 cruises now and we are still cruising!

If I go on a cruise I will probably mix up the dinner options on the first cruise. Maybe half seated dining and half buffet so I get a variety of experiences. Thank you for the information.

Good video. I recently went on my first cruise (with my adult children) and agree--the balcony is totally worth it, especially if you are an introvert or outdoorsy person! It was a lifesaver, allowing me to get some peaceful private outdoor space at times when I'd had enough of crowds of humanity for the day, lol.

Congratulations on the success of your channel. You have inspired a lot of us to go out and do it too. I've got about 10yrs on you and I decided to leave the U.S. and live in Colombia, SA BY MYSELF. I lived there for about 2 years. I love being by myself which came in handy during COVID. I'm back in the states right now, but will be leaving again in 2025 for Portugal. Great watchig your channel. I think I'll do a similar project.

Are the single meetups you talk about for truly singles or solos? I travel alone because my husband doesn't like to travel so I'm looking for friends to do things with but nothing more,

They're not for "hooking up", just for solo cruisers to hang out with other solos. It would be a good place to find someone to do stuff with, or just hang out and meet new people.
