Who knows what they could be. The imagination can run wild, but looking at some creatures that have recently been discovered due to our increasing technology the ocean has shown us that the possibilities are endless.

For anyone who wants to know, Deep-Sea Gigantism can occur when there is scarce food at that sea level. So, deep sea creatures are more efficient and therefore become larger. That's the Kleiber's rule. The Bergmann's rule, though, states that sea creatures tend to increase in body size with decrease in temperature.

Francesco Benetti Just as a matter of interest, the frilled shark map you have is very very outdated, I dive with a team in Cornwall, UK. We have observed and once very briefly filmed one of these on a simple go-pro. We have reported these sighting..... however does not show on your map. Is your map just not real? More than likely as I know for a fact that they have been spotted in the deep waters around Cornwall more than they have in and around Ireland. My grandad was in the Royal Navy during the Second World War, mainly in the pacific. He insisted there were octopus/squid that were as long as the aircraft carrier he spent four years on. He said there are creatures out there in the ocean that would be considered only in your nightmares, but are absolutely real. He said to forget what you THINK you know is out there, because what IS out there is beyond your imagination.

As a kid I thought there really were sea creatures that attacked ships. Turns out I was right. I went aboard a replica of the Nina (Pinta and Santa Maria), true to size, and was amazed at how small they actually were! Those men were exceptionally brave to face the unknown seas in those vessels in that day and time! There are sailboats that are bigger today!
