Making big moves can make you a frontrunner to win in Big Brother, but not always. Throughout Big Brother history we have seen many players try and make a fancy move, but it ended up backfiring and severely hindering their game, so today, we're going to talk about 5 of them.

Short answer: ego, cockiness and misogyny Long answer: part of the reason why he was in a great spot in the early game was because he wanted the same people that everyone else wanted out, minus Brontë but obviously that mattered little in the end. But then Paulie had to choose between his boys and his showmance and he handled it in the worst way possible. The problem with Paulie is that when he did not get his way his true awfulness came out, but it took Zakiyah being on the block for people to see that, and when Paulie realized Zakiyah was being voted out he sunk his game even further.
@NYChica23
@NYChica23 9 ай бұрын
Simple answer....he got too cocky after every eviction went his way and decided to openly act like he was calling every single shot, which caused most of his alliance members to jump ship when they clearly saw that Paulie was only in it for himself, not to mention that he apparently thought he was the only one capable of using the showmance strategy to get his way, so it came as a complete shock to him when he saw that Natalie was perfectly capable of doing the exact same thing to James in order to get him to flip on the guys and go with the Natalie/Michelle/Bridgette alliance

The way the house shifted with Haleena and Kevin turning on Jacey Lynne, Gino and Marty, the way in which Gino wound up on the block to create a scenario where this big move could be made, to Josh suddenly winning a crucial HOH at the triple eviction, to then having Betty win the following HOH and once again keeping Kevin and Haleena off the block. @@TheMurrmursonbottle And the reason Tommy/Christie didn't trust Jackson was because of the aforementioned hinky vote, so it all comes back full circle to that moment, because if he had at least told the rest of the Six Shooters about his plan to frame Nick or Bella for that move, they don't start distrusting him right away...similar to BB19 and how Cody started the week in a strong position, but quickly lost control due to making moves without consulting the rest of his alliance about them, which led to everyone except Jessica quickly jumping ship and siding with a now extremely pissed off and out for revenge Paul

Here's a few ones for a potential part 2 (feel free to disagree): Paul forcing two ties in BB19, and pretending that he had been blindsided. Had he evicted Jason and Alex normally and simply owned up to it, there's a better chance that they (especially Jason) vote for Paul in the end. The entire Kyle Moore HOH in BBCAN10 where he nominated people from his alliance instead of solidifying it, which resulted in him being blindsided at the eviction, and him being backdoored by his closest ally the very next week. Danielle using the veto on Dan at the final 4 in BB14, don't need to explain much more lol.

Paul should have evicted them normally but not owning up to their game at the jury questioning was what really sunk their game. I think Paul could have won had they owned up to it then by at least getting Jason’s vote, but not owning up to it at all was what guaranteed their loss!

Dana in BB4 betraying the Elite 8 by putting up her rival Alison along with Jack was a big move that backfired. By the time she won HOH, Dana had already soured her reputation in that house by flirting with Alison’s ex Justin as well as constantly getting on everyone’s nerves with her bad attitude. Dana decided she liked the Dream Team (Justin, Jee, and Robert) more than her own alliance AND she thought she had formed a tight-knit friendship with Jun and thought she could string her along with them in her plan. Except, Dana didn’t know Jun was just floating from group to group that season and wasn’t really her friend. When Dana made her big move, the entire Elite 8 was extremely pissed off at her (Alison especially) that she became public enemy number one. After failing to evict Alison due to Nathan using the veto on her, Alison went on to win HOH, put both Dana and Jun on the block, and then got her revenge by getting Dana evicted that week.

I don’t know what annoys me more, the fact that Zach not taking Jordan off the block was so obviously the wrong move, the fact that it backfired spectacularly (even though it made great tv) or the fact that it was Sindy who wound up being the deciding the vote, only for it to wound up backfiring on her as she was the target come the following week 🤦🏻‍♂️ BBCan3 definitely has its high points, but I will always be frustrated by how Sindy was treated. Luckily she got some redemption in BBCan5

Sindy was not a great player on either of her seasons. Putting up Neda (whilst it made great tv) was not a smart move. She was in an alliance with her and there were still lots of people in the house that Sindy wasn’t working with, hence her being evicted the following week.

As much as I get the hate for Neda from that season, Neda leaving was detrimental to Sindy Bruno and Kevin’s game. Would you be open to an analysis of the knockout comps throughout history? It's always been my least favourite competition - oftentimes conflating to having the "Coconut Chop" survivor challenge as an HOH challenge *every season* - I was thinking about it especially after being so bummed getting it on the double this season as it not only 100% confirmed Jared was going on the block but basically forced Meme to pick sides publicly or lose numbers with no contest.
@Ethanimale
@Ethanimale 9 ай бұрын
Oh see I feel the total opposite. I love the knockout comp because watching the thought process play out live as a houseguest that has been playing the middle is forced to choose a side typically leads to entertaining results. But good players can still find ways around that in order to hide their loyalties (like, they can just throw the competition and not have to choose who faces off). I also don't think it's nearly as lopsided as the Coconut Chop survivor challenge because all you need to do in this one is get a few questions right and you can win the comp (think Rachel in BB12), wheras that survivor challenge is pretty much impossible to win if you're in the minority.

I think a video concept that would be interesting is analyzing the average placements of returning players and see if their great averages are because they are great at the game, or due to luck/being in a supermajority. Or, vice versa, players who are considered greats who have poor average placements because of, say, bad luck in a second outing. Take maybe the top 5/10 best and maybe 5 worst placements and see where they fall? The top 5 is fairly understood as it’s Dan/Cody at an average of 1.5, Paul at an average of 2, and then Will/Jordan/Enzo at an average of 2.5. It’s pretty expected there, but then you have Erika, Christmas, and Memphis close by with averages of 3, 3.5, and 3.5. Nicole Franzel averages 3.66 (thanks to placing 7th on her original season). Where it gets funky is when we get further down because you have players like Chicken George having a better average than people like James Rhine and Jeff Schroeder. It’s very fascinating stuff.

The funny thing about Will making it to Final 3, though, is that it makes it almost impossible for them to actually make the final 2 together. With Erika over will at the final three, Boogie is right that both girls have to take him. But I think Janelle is smart enough to not take Will to final 2 because it's so obvious that she'll lose. In those 3 comps? No chance Will beats Janelle in those, so the only outcome that ends up with chilltown victory is if Boogie wins HOH. That's a 1/3 chance, where as Boogie on his own is GUARANTEED to win it all. I don't think Will cared that much about winning it all seeing how protective he was of Boogie during the season when Will would have probably done better without Mike anyways. Interesting thing to think about.

The bumbling duo of Daniel & Nicole - but particularly Nicole, the one-time undercover cop during Monte's HoH and the awful Festie Bestie twist. After Daniel & Kyle win PoV, it looked like Kyle was going to lose Alyssa, but supposedly after talking to Monte in the HoH room, both Daniel and Nicole, more so Nicole (via her DR confessional) that she "KNEW" Monte was lying to them and that if Daniel & Kyle took down India & Alyssa, Nicole was volunteering herself as a pawn, because they both were 100% sure that the entire house still wanted Taylor out. How they both strutted around the house between the PoV being played on Saturday afternoon & the PoV meeting on Monday afternoon. They were so proud of themselves that they had not only Monte, but the entire house figured out but had they listened to Monte and not used the PoV, they would have been safe for at least that week, but as fate would have it (and you can tell by what I'm holding in my thumbnail photo), the Queen of ALl comebacks Taylor had a trick up her sleeve and when she said "Girl, you've never looked so dumb!" I actually had tears coming down my face, that's how hard I was laughing and then to see Daniel sulk before his eventual eviction (they're all clowns!!) the next week that I celebrated even more than Nicole's.

Luckily their ally Kelsey convinced them not to do that but they were close. They felt so betrayed that they were tempted to give up their games, which is pretty stupid but it made for some fun drama during what would have been a standard double eviction!

bb18 when James threw the wall comp to Nicole was a huge mistake too. if he had won Paul or Victor would have gone home and he still would have had Michelle and Natalie working with him and they both would be a target over him with Nicole and Corey.

If Paulie didn't force Paul to backdoor Da'Vonne the previous week (backdooring her was ridiculous anyways, due to sucking at comps), she would have been a vote to keep Zakiyah over Michelle (Zakiyah was booted in a 6-1), and Bridgette isn't around to boot Zakiyah. Zakiyah staying means it gives Paulie more numbers.
@NYChica23
@NYChica23 9 ай бұрын
Actually, Zakiyah got booted in a 3-2 due to James having the power to cancel two votes, one of which was either Corey's or Paulie's
@craigresendes2403

@@NYChica23James cancelled Paul and Corey’s votes. Paul knew about this since they were in on the flip. The five people voting were James, Natalie, Bridgette, Nicole, and Paulie. He ended up cancelling one vote for each so the true split was 4-3. I do agree that Da’Vonne would’ve been a vote for Zakiyah to stay, but presuming James still gets the power all he had to do was cancel Nicole or Paulie’s vote (assuming he doesn’t cancel Da’Vonne’s because they were in an alliance).

Only Dan Had The Moves
@Scottysnaps
@Scottysnaps 9 ай бұрын
Maybe not so much a bad move, considering the outcome wasn't too bad for the person, but BBCan5's Final 5, Where Kevin used the Veto on Ika and put up Dillon was nearly game ending. He wanted Demetres out and knowing that Dillon and Karen were going to vote out Ika over Demetres, him using the veto was seemingly a great move however he put up the wrong person on the block in Dillon considering that Dillon's closest ally, Karen voted him out at the end of the week, just to spite Kevin. Had Kevin just put up Karen, Demetres leaves that week since Dillon would've stayed loyal. Then Kevin has a much easier road to victory competing against Dillon, Karen and Ika.

I still think Chilltown should have found a way to keep George until the Final 3
@craigresendes2403
@craigresendes2403 9 ай бұрын
Unfortunately that’s impossible in a vacuum since Janelle won the HOH, and Erika won the POV, forcing her to nominate one of ChillTown. This was the Fast Forward week too (aka modern double eviction), so Will didn’t have time to play long-form, which is where he thrives. Chicken George also was a nominee the last two evictions, and was HOH the eviction prior. Bringing George to 3rd was definitely their best move but I don’t know a world where that happens.

@@BigMattXXL absolutely. I think had Janelle not put up Marcellas, Erika would have been evicted. There also was an opportunity on Chicken George’s HOH, but I do think Howie was the right person to evict at that point (also, if he put up Janelle like the house wanted, that changes the outcome of the season entirely and I think it leads to a Danielle win).

i will never understand why some ppl think Will is the GOAT. If you got two ppl in your corner, you don't need to tell them they're in Chilltown which is a name that should've been kept between Will and Boogie. Too cocky. Overplayed their hand leading to them playing themselves. Dan who is often compared to Will would've thought it through. Idc if Will would've won. HE DIDN'T! He wasn't even the best player in the season he won. Dan, Derrick, Cody, Andy, Taylor, Hayden, Maggie, Jun, Nicole (BB18) and debatably Adam and Drew were

@@janejones7638I would argue Holly would have made a more deserving winner since she was more of a strategist and didn’t need to win comps to make it far, plus she had a better social game.unfortunately, the jury despite not liking Jackson’s behaviors still voted for him for his comp success 🙄 Jack and Nick I get why they voted for him, but Tommy and Cliff should have voted for Holly based on their jury questions at the end!

I'm surprised you didn't put Cody's plan to backdoor Paul, because that was a series of moves that was bound to backfire in a spectacular fashion, which did end up happening. First of all, throwing the POV to Alex, who everyone in his alliance wants out, not the smartest move. Then there's putting Paul up, which even if there had been no power to protect them (which, don't get me started on how Jillian of all people was the only one who had enough common sense to realize that if America had voted on a power, Paul was the likely option to be the first to get it), there's no guarantee that the votes would've been there in the first place to make that move, since Cody had told absolutely no one, not even his showmance Jessica, what his plans were, and then what ends up being the final nail in his coffin is nominating a second alliance member in Christmas once the Paul backdoor failed, which obviously not only led Paul to jump ship and declare war on Cody, but since they had already gotten close to Raven and Elena by that point, the two ladies not only ran to Paul the moment they could, but they took their showmances with them, leaving Jessica as the only member of Cody's alliance that was still loyal to him, and then it was an easy sell from there to get outsiders Kevin and Josh on board with the evict Jillian plan, since Kevin had been the one to bring Paul in the game, and Josh already felt bad about voting to evict Christmas on the round Cameron went, so he was easy to convince to evict Jillian
