University of Wisconsin has a competency-based bachelor's program on IT, but I don't see it getting a lot of coverage. Maybe you can do a video on that, would be very helpful to see another competency-based IT degree besides WGU } :

Given that I was accepted to medical school with one of those “useless” degrees, I beg to differ. :) A chipotle degree can be useful in a number of contexts, but to define it-it’s a build your own major. You get to select the classes you include in the major section of your degree instead of having the school tell you what to take.

Thanks for this, I'm looking into hacking a CS degree and so far I'm comparing WGU, TESU, Franklin U and SNHU. I will be transferring in credits from my useless Criminal Justice degree so I can hopefully finish quickly by also using sites like Sophia. I'm also a veteran and qualify for reduced tuition at TESU, FU and SNHU. Would love to consult with you guys and weigh the options for my situation.

Awesome! We would love to help :) Those are some solid options you’re choosing between. It mostly depends on what your priority is-learning, or the piece of paper. WGU will take the least amount of transfer credit but give you one of the better educations.

I'm having difficulty on choosing the online college that is best to finish my BA in business (while getting my HR certificates) and then find a college for my masters. Thanks for any pointers you might have.

Can you explain why WGU treats an associates like one year and still requires 90 credits to finish a degree?
@CollegeHacked5 ай бұрын
It’s because they don’t have free elective sections in their degrees, so the only transfer credit you get from an AA is generally going to be gen eds. Unless you happened to complete an AA that had the same classes WGU requires in the major you choose. I’ve seen that happen once or twice.

When looking at the computer science program at wgu vs Thomas Edison which would be easier to complete? And does the Bachelor of Arts really make a difference compared to the sciences?
@CollegeHacked Жыл бұрын
Bachelor of Art vs. Science really doesn’t hold weight, don’t worry about that part :) WGU would be easier because it’s more streamlined and there will be bigger communities for support for WGU. But both are excellent options :)

Typically if the cert is built into the course, you just get credit for having it already. Like an assignment you’ve already completed :)

I have a small question. After watching the entire video, I realized that the core logic is to transfer credits to a university to graduate, right? For example, if I enroll in courses at Excelsior University and transfer my previous 116 credits there, and then I only need to complete 4 credits at the university, does that mean I only need to pay for 4 credits and after completing the courses, I can get a degree :)
@CollegeHacked3 ай бұрын
That’s the idea! But each degree has specific requirements that need to be met. So while you might have 116 credits to transfer, probably not all of those will directly apply. That’s the game we play.

Particularly in STEM situations, employers are rarely going to be picky about where your degree came from (other than the ABET distinction), it’s about what skills you can demonstrate. This is especially true for computer science jobs, where your interviews are largely coding challenges and/or creating a working project within parameters the employers provide.
