Thanks, Thomas. I have now joined your email list. BTW, I recently took your advice and ditched my low carb (Walmart) shakes. Although they're sweetened with Inulin, they contain whey protein concentrate, which you have said evokes an insulin response much higher than "table" sugar.

Very impressive! I hope to get there. I just completed 42 hour fast two days ago, which is first time I've ever gone an entire day, let alone the entire next morning, without any calories. I wasn't sure if I could make it one day, but herbal teas and green tea kept my mouth's need for pleasant tastes satisfied, and I kept my mind motivated on the end result by watch Thomas' and other videos on the benefits of fasting, and tips on how to do it well. Also some exercise and dancing to my KZbin music video lists kept my mind on other things, along with my job. Now that you and I have accomplished this, we can stretch ourselves further. I have much further to go than you, but by learning what others have accomplished, and seeing what I've done in 6 weeks since beginning intermittent fasting and lower carb diet proves we can keep getting better and better at this lifestyle adjustment.

Foods to Avoid: (1) Foods with high glycemic load - Have a little bit of sodium in your blood prior to breaking your fast - Avoid 25G plus carbs (2) Almonds and Cashews (3) Shellfish (4) Saturated Fats - avoid MCT oil - use olive oil instead (5) Vegetables - especially insoluble fiber: kale, celery, carrots etc. - avoid salad! In short, avoid carbs and break your fast with lean protein!

@@river4462 so when you fast you use distilled water? you do not replentish minerals (just kidding, like you mention, just add a little)? I break my extended (2 day) fasts with a pack of high quality imported sardines packed in olive oil (from Portugal). They are a bit more expensive than the ones in US grocery stories, but the quality of the product and the taste makes it worth the extra cost. you can always abuse your body... especially when you're young, but it's still biologically stressful... many diseases people suffer from, were the result of doing something "harmless" but consistently for 20-30 years... it's a cumulative effect... like putting a little money in the bank (or taking it out...) It's not the amount, it's the regularity over time that creates the effect... (in this case, wealth or poverty)

Hi Thomas, great video. A while back you did a video about what to break your fast with depending on your goals, and you considered three goals, longevity, fat loss, and muscle growth. You said if you're goal is fat loss, then keto coffee is the best thing to break your fast with, bone broth is best if you're going for longevity and lean protein is best if you're going for muscle growth. In this video, you say you don't recommend saturated fats, even MCT oil, for fast breaking. My goal is weight loss, so my question is, have you changed your mind about breaking a fast with keto coffee? (I should specify that I'm strictly keto during my feeding windows and my goal is fat loss) Thanks man

Do whatever your body feels good with ! Some people need more carbs to get by, others need less. Fruits in moderation is a must in peoples diet , nothing wrong with that. There’s anti-caffeine people who need a boost of energy so they’ll have a banana, yes it has a lot of sugar but if it’s going to help you then why not? Just give your body what is asking for, if you feel good about it!

I like that you mention refeeding. Technically refeeding syndrome also is characterized by rapid drop in serum K+, Mg in addition to Na. It is actually the rapid drop in K+ that can be the most dangerous effect of refeeding due to its effect on cardiac function. We supplement and replace these (IV infusion or by mouth) to correct the depletion during refeeding. I work as a dietitian in intensive care and we see this all the time. Typically occurs after 3-4 days of inadequate nutrition (or fasting as well) and happens very shortly after reintroducing nutrients info the body

Just eat some fish.. or drink some bone broth + add some salt. :) then you can eat your real meal an hour later.. so he actually had a video suggesting it's better to be doing 2MAD.. I consider it like snacking in advance to break the fast.. Since my eating window is 4 hr.. I just break fast with a snack, then 1 hr later.. i eat my full meal... ..

He explains foods to beak the fast. That’s doesn’t mean you can’t eat all the food intake at a later period following the fast break. So say eat some salmon or chicken small portion. Let your body start the digestive process. Then 30min to an hour later eat all you want. The point is what is the very first food your gut is taking first to prepare it for a proper meal

I fast around 18 hours average a day. I usually break my fast with 3 hard boiled eggs then I drink water, just wait a little bit and have an avocado, wait a little bit and have some pistachios and walnuts and a spoon of peanut butter with more water… I eat all that in a 30 minute period eating very slowly… I’m loaded with top notch protein and really good essential fats and virtually no carbs. Since I’m a construction worker I need a good chunk of energy for my day and that’s the best I came upon watching his and doctor ekberg videos. How does the limit carbs to under 25 grams part work with your videos on post workout meals - which you reccomend us doing in a fasted state - in which you say it might be goos to have 20 - 30 grams of glucose (with salt) + 10 - 15 grams of fructose? It took me sometimes to piece together the finer details of prolonged fasting. I take 1 to 1.5 teaspoons of a high quality salt during a fast. Preferably pink Himalyan, but any high quality salt with high mineral content will do. And herbal tea. The salt water made all the difference in the world. And breaking the fast was the most difficult part to nail down. Lean protein is _always_ my go to. However, I like to start with bone broth first if I can. Again with alt, and sometimes a splash of acv.

Lots of coffee, milk and teas I saw, and small meals and never ever saw them eat after 5pm, I saw them eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. And yes I never saw my mom or grandma do exercises other than their daily work! and yet they lived a long and healthy life....The simple problem is we over eat like cows and horses 😂 Today we make fasting so complicated...
