I like it, bought it a while ago. Personally like the history behind it, how it was Gianni Versace’s last gift to the world before his unfortunate assassination. I wonder what he would have thought of some of the modern classics we have today, all the elixirs, blue fragrances, and all that.

The MJ Legend is fantastic stuff! Can go toe to toe with New Haarlem, and if you layer it with Iso E Super you’ve got a next level coffee/maple/anise/cedar scent. Def worth looking for on discount sites.

I rather recently (couple of years ago) discovered Chanel Allure Homme, and I absolutely love it. Actually I love all of the Allure Homme line, but the OG may be my favorite. Definitely timeless, classy, easy to wear. Great for the office.

I have not been able to find anything that compares to Allure from ~1999. It was my first credit card purchase. It became a gifting tradition every Christmas from my grandmother. I entered Macy's last year and had a friend smell it on paper and it seemed like it could be a completely different fragrance all together. Maybe it's the difference between being 18/19 compared to 42/43 but I doubt it. That was my smell

I bought Dune when it came out in 97 and still have my original bottle (it's down to about 30-40%). Great fragrance.

I still own my dad's original 1992 Calvin Klein Eternity. Its super macerated, lost a lot of freshness but replaced with a deep sweet tartness that smells acid in the opening but dries down really nice, sweet and deep. One of the most unique and sentimental frags in my collection.

Great list Ash! In the 90’s I remember getting my nose on pretty much everything, since I worked at JC Penney fixing watches, and my dept was right next to the fragrances/cosmetics dept. So when it was slow, I was always over spraying the fragrances to see what I liked. I remember liking Dune a lot but never bought a bottle. ADG was the eclipsing fragrance for me. Once that came out, it was my signature scent for a long time and other fragrances just kind of fell by the wayside.

Pleasures was my 1st grown up fragrance. I say that because it was given to me as a teen by my uncle who was not particularly fond of the scent. It grabbed me a good deal of high school attention. Good recommendation

Nikos Sculpture was a good one in the 90's. They just came out with a Parfum version in 2022, and it smells great!

Cheap and underrated (if known at all) but i enjoyed Cuba back in the 90's. I thought it was something special since I purchased it at Disney. I later found out it's not that expensive but i dig the smell

Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger was my first "signature scent" when I was 13.. I can rattle off a ton, but shoutout to Michael Jordan's OG Cologne that came out in 1996, that stuff is super clean and is pretty unique.. and of course Abercrombie Woods is the 90s GOAT imho..

Acqua di Gio was king of the 90s, but here are some honorable mentions: Tommy Hilfiger Tommy Calvin Klein Eternity Nautica Classic Cool Water (made in '88, but HUGE in the 90s) Calvin Klein Ck One All of these are still wearable today.

Bvlgari Pour Homme! Though since it was launched in 1996 it's not that much of a 90s fragrance especially since its flankers were a hit mostly in the 00s.Anyway, I wasn't using designer fragrances prior to 1996, as I was a boy.

"Smells great for the price point", another perpetuated non-sensical statement. You would think that Ash, having worked as a creative director would know that basically any perfume, Jordan's legend AND, for example, any niche house, could cost 20 $. The difference in formula cost is: Legend costs 1$ per bottle, while Initio costs 2 or 3$ per bottle. So yeah, in all honesty, you can make "niche level" perfumes at "bargain bin" prices, but why would anyone when they can sell it for 200+$ and have these influencers perpetuate false perceptions and narratives.
