The calendar expiry on gshocks is really a non issue for watches that you set the year without it being displayed, as the calendar pattern eventually repeats. For the gshocks that expire in 2039 you just set the watch back to 2012 in 2040 and you’re good (apart from being old AF)

The Frogman is a genuine dive watch and something very telling is that all of the military and offshore divers I worked with and know use G Shock Frogmen for diving. Although it may be expensive for a G Shock it is a bit of a bargain if you consider the quality, functionality and capability relative to the vast majority of dive watches on the market.

The Casio G-Shock is the best bang for the buck watch on the market. I have my 5600 from my Navy days (early 1980's), a 7700, and a 9400. My G-shock of choice is the Rangeman, just fits my needs best. I think it humorous that Jory left out one attribute of the Casio watch brand that most have because he insists the atomic clock is going to be disbanded. But the multiband atomic clock is still a functioning complication that is very useful in the real world.

I’ve still got my DW600 and it was in Presteigne condition, this was until I needed a new batteries to be fitted. Normally changing the batteries was done by a proper watch maker who services quite a lot of makes. Well my wife took it to TIMPSONS as to surprise me as it had been dead for some years as it got lost when we moved home and thought it was lost for ever. TIMPSONS managed to. . #1 TIMPSONS managed to break the strap #2 TIMPSONS lost the little black strap holder #3 TIMPSONS broke the plastic watch surrounding ( Luckily my son took a pictures of my watches front and rear ) #4 TIMPSONS did not had not fitted the case properly as it had pinched one of the buttons and it would stick all the time. #5 TIMPSONS managed to scratch the rear casing. . This watch has taken some punishment and never really ever left my wrist. It’s been in high altitudes and in the ocean AOK and I am so glad that I never swapped it in for something a little bit more flashy as it has sentimental value as I got this a few months of dating my now wife.

A 200m watch versus a "Divers" 200m... To be qualified as a diver's watch the watch had to pass stricter ISO tests. I see it as, you can get a 100/200m watch that is made for those depths but is only tested for short time exposures to those depths whereas the divers are tested at higher depths and for longer periods to better ensure long term exposure protection. Just my opinion.

As a high end watch collector, I love the g shock 5445 is one heck of a watch. It won’t win any contests for styling, but it is waterproof to any depth a sane human being would dive to. There is only ONE BIG PROBLEM with the model 5445; and that is changing the time, date, or any number of other things this watch can do. You would imagine for roughly $375.00 this watch would be a simple compilation of time, date, period. No, not this G shock. Every year I sit in front of you tube watching some idiot who is speaking too fast or too slow explain to me, another idiot, how to change the time, date, zone, city of origin, world tower, etc. Guys and gals this is just to much for me. I have made the awful mistake of purchasing one g shock, because most of the Seals wear them. I can’t perform any of the tasks given to the lowliest os Seals, so what to I need the watch they wear. At 77 I’m lucky I’m walking around. I have also made the colossal mistake of buying about11 Citizen, automatic, self setting radio controlled watches which are equally as difficult, maybe more so than the g shock to set. I must admit one out of the 11 citizen watches does change automatically. Or I should say did change automatically. This year it did not. It would be much simpler to go to one of my winding boxes and retrieve Am Omega Sea, whatever that is beautiful to the eye, is a manual self winder and set the time after daylight savings time and enjoy for another year. Ditto, Rolex Daytona, Rolex Datejust, Rolex president, yes I was on a Rolex kick for two years or so. I got my poor son into watches and high end performance vehicles and he now Suffers from the same malaise .. Gents, all I can say is the was a plastic watch that probably cost $3.00 to Make called 41 . The 41 stood for the size of the face. I bought 4 of them at a low cost, let’s say $40.00 each. They were delivered and the were pretty cool. My wife saw them, made a face and said why would you even put that cheap piece of garbage on your wrist. I stashed one, knowing she would forget about it. My daughter has the other 3 and she is happy as a lark. I forgot we were talking about g shocks. The moral of the story is, buy a timer or some simple self winder. You will be much less frustrated at daylight savings time. Sorry for boring you. I’m sure half of you took a nap anyway. DW5600E-1V for the win! It tells time, it's readable, with great electro luminescence display and it has even a timer countdown. The fancy ones are just for fun, but mostly useless. Their design is also silly (a lot of black numbers on black dial and black hands with negative display, making it basically imposible to read in most situations). If there is some "end of the world" situation at some point, then there will be no need for time measuring. I mean you won't have to go to work on time or anything because there would be no jobs. I own the original prototype of the GWG 1001 A-3. It is the Casio 5410 GPW 1000 I paid 1054.00 usd and got it out of Australia. It was not if this country at that time.. no pun on time. It isn’t measured in meters its depth is in bar. If curious read about it. Google it. It is comfortable at 200 meters. They have advanced in watches since I bought this in 2010. But it only comes off my wrist when I’m in the water swimming laps. The second watch mentioned was the watch I wore on the job as a FFer for 18 years or so? I gave it to pops, my dad. I’d have to set daylight savings time first him every 6 months. I was honored to. I buried it with him when he died. He loved his beater watch .. that’s what he called it. Dad was tough on jewelry.. of any kind. Worked with his hands. So everything took a beating. Even the watches. Until his G shock. Well.. he and his beater rest easy now. I think? He swore that when he dies he would do some work. His best friend was buried about 9 plots over. He swore he mine over to him .. ya see dad was a hard rock miner. So it’s hard to say if he rested just then.

G-SHOCK are like unbreakable until you don't intentionally break them to get new one

My wife got me my first G shock for Christmas right before I went to Basic and now almost 6 years later I've finally bought a new one to have variety. Love em!

Dude! Does your bullbar on your GX56 dig into your skin? Mine hangs over the edge of the case back and it digs in. Just making sure I’m not the only one.

Gulfman. I chose it because of the titanium backplate and buckle. The stainless steel used on others still contains enough traces of nickel to cause a reaction on my wrist if worn for too long. The gulfman I can wear 24-7 no problems!

I enjoy the G Shocks. I have 7. I like the price points. The durability. The overall look in total. I went years without wearing a watch. But last year I decided to go back to wearing them. At the general price point I’m happy to just give one to my Sons or good friends if they even mention they like one I’m wearing. I really like the new Carbon Core ones that have came out.

I love g shocks, but how is it a SHTF watch? Can it survive an EMP? I think SHTF watches are automatics, right? No electronics. If not, hook me up with the info. I love digital too lol.

Thanks for the video. My Apple Watch just crapped itself and I wanted to get a simple watch that just won’t break. Picked up a DW5600 because I couldn’t find a DW6600

People freak out about the older DW-5600s calendar ending in 2039. Since the calendar goes on a 28-year cycle, all you have to do is when you get to 2040, set the year to 2012. *BOOM* The perpetual calendar works again.

Sad you didn't made the point about ISO 6425 200m dive-watch certification that totally differentiate it from 20 bars/200m desk-divers :( I am a certified diver (as for any real diver), and this is a certified diver-watch: this is totally its "raison d'être" and why it is unique in the G-Shock line.

I have the GWG-1000-1A3. Great watch but still can't remember how to use all the functions! What's your thoughts about using the buttons (not the crown!) when wet or under water?

I have this old g shock. The straps are orange and the outer ring with the hand dial is silver. The rest is black and silver. I found a picture of it but no name and it said it was no longer made so now I’m tryna fix it to one day sell or wear
