@@tristandauod I know this reply is late but that REALLY drains the battery. I think (on the rangeman 9400) sometimes that feature can turn off some other functions. (i can't remember what ones)

@Darren Morris well, it will keep time anyway within tolerance (+/-15 sec). multiband just makes it dead on accurate. rolex is automatic, once it stops, you won't have a reference to set it to. anyway, if shit hits the fan, watch will be the least of my concerns

Like you, this has been on my 'Grail List' for years. I wore the GG-1000 for a couple of years but finally pulled the trigger on a GWG-1000 1AJF (Japanese version) and I friggin' love it! It was tough to pull the trigger on a G-Shock with this price tag. But by far, it is the epitome of what a rugged and functional watch should be. Never has a G-shock (of mine) garnered so much attention. People just notice and comment on it almost daily. I also have an Apple Watch (series 4) that I wear on occasion...to me it's tech, not a watch! Great video sir!

little did my mom know that for my 15th birthday (less than a months time) id be getting one of these. I have a dw5600 and its been with me through all sorts of scenarios from gokarting to mountain biking and its perfectly fine. Even when i smashed it straight into a sharp rock when mountain biking and i put my left arm out, it still worked. Hoping that this Mudmaster can to even better, but then again, if its got Jory's seal of approval, ive got nothing to worry about.

The things I like about your Mudmaster is the metal buttons, the metal screws and I love Casio added a sapphire crystal. I wear a G-shock everyday at my job (contractor) and the watch is bomb proof, but the crystal is all scratched up.

@@007SAMRATROY That's 100% subjective. It's not better looking to many, and sapphire crystals are more prone to shattering than mineral glass. The MM crystal is larger and more exposed to damage than the smaller Rangeman crystal, and has mechanical parts (hands, motor) that have failed in some watches. So not, it's not any 'tougher' than a Rangeman.

I don't think the Apple watch has an internal compass. There's a compass app you can get that references GPS. Also you gotta charge up the apple watch every 18 hours.

I have the lesser mudmaster, step down from the solar powered one. I've had it for almost three years, my whole army career. I've put it through some very rough conditions, and it still looks and works great. The only wear and tear on it is the paint on the lettering.

I bought the GG1000 before I knew the difference between the GG1000 and the GWG 1000. I saved a little money but If I had known I would have gone for the slightly larger GWG1000. Here is why. The GWG 1000 has hand stow. Everytime I go to look at the digital display on my GG 1000 the hands are right in the way of the display. It's my only gripe. I love my GG 1000. BUT i would really like hand stow feature, and tough solar, and radio time update, and illuminated numerals, and the triple sensors, and overall BEAST of a watch look. This watch looks like it might just jump off your arm and kick someone's ass. Buy it now. By the way, great video!

I have the same problem as you. Got the GG1000 and I really like it, but I use the stopwatch at the gym all the time and the hands are almost always in the way of the digital display. I actually went back to wearing a old 60$ digital g shock at the gym which has a huge easy display.

Yeah I have the GG 1000. I've come to learn that a watch that has sensors should have the solar tech. I'm always thinking of battery life everytime I use them , or even the light for that matter. It's better to enjoy the watch fully without the battery worry.

Had a GG1000 - looks amazing. The strap was too stiff though. Then I found out about GG-B100. Quad sensor and carbon fiber construction. Biggest appeal was the step counter since I'm a fairly active person. Then I had my sights on the king of mudmasters - the GWG 1000. Last week I bought the military green one and I absolutely love it. As you mentioned above looks as though it might jump off your arm and kick someone's butt. Beast of a watch 100%.

Congrats on the Muddy. One thing I disagree with is the lume, I’ve had mine for two years, and the lume seems a lot dimmer than yours. Maybe they changed the formula in the meantime. That said, I’d trust it above every other field watch out there. Now get out there and scuff it up a bit! Get some scars on it!

I've got a mudman that I dearly love for all the reasons you mentioned for loving... literally any G-Shock. It's a particularly good jackassing watch for when you need a watch for jackassery. Big, clonky, and more functional than you need. And yes I know there's probably some military person in Nicaragua who's killed three g-shock mudmen, but you are not that person, nor are most of the people who own a mudman. That said I personally have never liked the analog/digital readout on any watch which is purely just a personal thing. If that's what you're into, more power to you, it's just not an aesthetic I enjoy. Again, I'm not trying to knock anyone who does like that aesthetic. It really doesn't take anything away from the big clonky look that G Shocks have, it just puts it into a slightly different format

I had a titanium pro trek for over 8 years , and i got bored of it before i killed it, and I wore it for everything ! mountain biking, camping , even a hardcore camping trip where we had to crawl in the mud. and it was not even a g shock

That's nowhere near the best part of this watch! lol so many g shocks have the tough solar feature, that's not unique. What makes this baby unique, well.. how much time do you have? This things amazing! Recently I've had a new found appreciation for the sapphire crystal glass that they use. It's crystal clear and readable even from an angle, where other g shock watches are only clearly readable from a straight on view. It's got all the features, and it's also the most aesthetically pleasing analog g shock watch that's ever been made in my opinion. This thing is bad ass, man. 100% bad ass 😎👍👌🤘

Andrea Gargano Mine is about a 7 1/2 and it’s true. It fits perfectly. The band is curved on each side, so it sits perfectly on all sizes of wrists. Although, I guess if you are a young person, a woman or someone with VERY small wrists, this watch would absolutely too big,

Damn, honestly the legibility (especially the lume shot), along with all the functions make this a pretty darn good deal for what you're getting. With the solar function on top and the compass, jeez! Almost seems like a practical purchase to make and get it over with and just "have it in case" at home or w/e. great review!

It is exactly the same for me as well . Was trying to find similar G shock that comes close to this. I think the most difficult part is to match the lume that this Mudmaster present others are just too little to even be recognize.

Check out the "gg1000" instead of "gwg1000" - mudmaster with compass - I had one and just sold it on Ebay. Heck of a watch - attention getter - half price of gwg or lower, shop around but dont get had, if you know what I mean. There are some great copy cats.

Triple sensor is barometer, thermometer and altimeter. Compass is not part of the triple sensor. The barometer, which you failed to mention, is a huge feature of this watch with storm alarms. Sorry you missed this as it's really cool.

Too bulky for me! Looks like you got a bread box strapped to your wrist. One of the digital solar G-Shocks are more to my liking. And as a note, when or if the SHTF, time signals that calibrate it will be one of the first things to disappear.

Don’t be fooled! I got the one made from forged carbon fiber and my 13 month old granddaughter broke it!!!! That’s right! She dropped it from a height of 24 inches out of her playpen onto a tile floor. Not so shock resistant after all! The part that goes around the light button broke right off! Casio refused to fix it for free so I won’t be buying another one! Maybe it should be called baby shock!

Variety? Personally, I'm with you. After many years of wearing only mechanicals and autos, I've gone back to G-Shocks. They're just better in every way: time keeping, features, toughness, etc. My daily wear is a GW9400-1 Rangeman, but I'm thinking of getting one of these too.

He lists as a potential 'con' that when you unscrew the crown to change some menu setting, you may forget to put it back in. Casio have cleverly designed the crown so that when you unscrew it, it exposes a RED warning band to remind you of that very thing... Once you screw it back in, the red band is hidden.

My bad and failing eyesight almost demands the analog dial and I'm 6'1" and 255 lbs so naturally I'd like a huge dial. Small digital dials are out of the question. I also saw your video of changing the band to canvas using adaptors. Thanks your videos are great.

I absolutely love my 2 G-Shocks. Gotta GA-150 and a GW9400. The Rangeman is my daily wear watch, and it gets beat and abused alot. Lasterday it got showered with metal sparks for hours, and after running some hot water and a lil bit of dish soap, the thing looks brand new. Imo G-Shocks are really the best watches in the world.

Great review...i have one on order (the 1A1) and I've wanted one ever since i got into G-shock collecting. What's funny is that going through the G-shock catalogs etc i didn't care what the watches do because i know they are all multifunctional, for me it was just looks and quality and this watch has a very complex industrial or techno or terminator styling and i actually prefer simpler styling but for some reason this watch has the most bad ass presence without looking cheesy like some brands...the Japanese just know something about true styling and regardless of price to me it's worth it

Like big watches but 17mm on the case thickness is insane. It is definitely not the watch if you ride motorcycles a leather jacket cuff won't fit over it on a form fitting jacket. My 12mm Wenger has to be turned on my wrist to fit can't imagine what one would have to do with this beast. Not to mention the longer gloves won't like it either. Cool watch though...

Let my one year old granddaughter twins play with my two year old Mud Master . They are two feet tall and dropped it on the tile floor from a height of two feet ( I measured it) out of their “playpen “. The forged carbon fiber around the light button broke off leaving a sharp edge and exposing the button. I mean a one year old baby girl can break it without even trying??!!! WTF!

I have the GGB100. Love it. But I wouldn't recommend it for your SHTF watch. It's batteries only. No solar. No kinetic charging. They supposedly can go quite a while on battery. But I was in NYC during Covid. Stuck. And I can assure you it wouldn't be reasonable to get this watch battery replaced in a similar set of circumstances. I've had a couple Citizens and I absolutely love them. Navy atomic tower time setting every night. Low light EcoDrive solar... a flashlight can charge it in a few minutes. I wish they could bring some of that Citizen durability and dependability, to the GGB100. My hunch is this is a early iteration. We have a toy some things to ponder and tinker with. But I would not want this to be the single watch I am left with when SHTF. The functions are kinda cool. But you gotta calibrate the compass every time to ensure it's accurate. Compass also needs to be far away from vehicles and large steel mass. The thermometer/ temperature reading is not accurate unless you take the watch off and stay ten feet away. It all sort of gets silly after that. I've used the compass a few times to approximate my orientation on a building I'm working in. But that's it. I'm all for a wearable tech but this watch is overpriced and lacks critical core features for a survivalist end of the world watch. Definitely looking forward to their next version release!
