There is also a gaited pony from the Spiti Valley in the western Indian Himalayas called the Chaumurti. They are super smooth with a pacing gait (no trot) and a running walk. I used to own one in India plus have visited the Spiti Valley a few times to see them there. They are typically only grey, very hardy, and easy to handle. Wonderful creatures!

Grew up riding Arabs and Quarter Horses. Then I owned a Missouri Fox Trotter. What a difference a gained horse makes in riding comfort.

I had the pleasure of often riding a magnificent fox trotter and an national champion American saddlebred. Frankly not riding to frequently, I don't know why people wanted me to ride their horses but it was a pleasure.

I have a Walkaloosa, a 17 year old gelding and a pasture pet. I could fall off a grocery store mechanical horse. He's very sweet, and has a gaited mule companion, also never ridden.

I actually live close to Aegidienberg, and you find that breed and the Icelandic Horses everywhere around this area. I am not very familiar with it, though. Very interesting to learn about the other breeds!

One out of five, not bad. I know the Aegidienberger. The others are new to me. I own a crossbreed icelandicxirishcob. He shows potential for gaits, young horse still. ( the black one in my videos) We’ll see in the future if I can find some tölt or pace in him.

Absolutely love your content. I’m so happy I stumbled upon your channel. Alyssa, you’re the perfect person to ask and answer my question. My dreams are finally coming true. Lived my entire adult life in the city BUT NOW I’m moving to the country. My first goal is purchasing 2 horses for pleasure riding. Horses have always been my greatest passion and my dream has FINALLY come true. I’m 59 years old and I would love to hear your advice on which breed of horse will deliver these characteristics: 1.) Bonding 2.) Smoothest ride (gaited) 3.) sure footedness. Arkansas mountain country. 4.) endurance. We will certainly be spending lots of time riding and enjoying nature. 5.) A horse breed that really wants to be with people. I’m pulled towards the Kentucky Mountain breed. I rode a friends and fell in love with how smooth the gait felt. It was like riding on air. There are very beautiful gaited horses on the Peloponnes, Greece: The Pineia Pony. The show the same gaits as islandic horses but to me are much more beautiful. They have quite a share of arabic influence.

What i don't understand is that in dutch, french, german and spanish there exist only walk, draf (trot) and galop. Without mencioning the extendet trot and galop. But in english there is a diference: the have walk, trot, canter (3beat) and galop (4beat). So in english they have more specifications because when you ask in google to translate canter in other languages, the answer is always galop, galope and galopp, for french and dutch, spanish, german. So have the icelantics than 6 and no 5 gaits?😊
