Elegance, presence of mind, and elan = who doesn't love a Friesian ~~ very compelling equine personalities.

I love all your videos, Alissa, and what a wonderful idea to ride every breed we know. I never tire of watching Friesians trot with their high-stepping forelegs tracing circles as they go. Have never seen this in other breeds. Thank you so much for showing us all these beautiful horses.

do they neck rein? i had grade horses and they were all super gentle. when i'd sit outside to read they'd come up and lay on the ground under the tree with me for a while. when we'd go out for a walk on the trail sometimes we'd see someone else out walking on foot, they'd be very interested in saying "hi" to them. i didn't really train them, they just seemed to know what to do. we mostly just used those soft saddles and no bridle. i'd just clip a couple of the thinner lead ropes on their halter. the first few rides i'd tug slightly on the direction i wanted them to go and allow the opposite side to touch their neck. it only took one or two rides to get them to understand what's going on and what to do. "candy" a huge girl (t. walker mix) liked getting to go see the edge of the farmers feild so she was always eager to go out. she was one of those horses who would just let you literally jump on her back without saddle or leads. i'd just rub one side to tell her where to turn. if it was close to feed time in the afternoon and you were working out there she's come give you a ride back. i think she thought it took us too long to walk on our own. she was ready for food time and socializing. haha

I had never heard of a Swedish Ardennes before, but now I can’t wait to see one up close. Hopefully, I can find some here in California.

sitting on them isn't the problem, its getting them to move whilst sitting on them. They just think your nuts. You know i'm a pack pony right?

It's like a smaller version of a shire or suffolk punch. It's definitely the most well-known draft horse, though.

My beutiful horse is a Freiberger and she is the smartest and kindest, everthing on her is perfect. But she is a tiny one just 142 cm tall.
