The Gardening Channel With James Prigioni

It's midsummer in the garden and a few fixable mistakes can make all the difference between bigger current and future harvests. The gardening season is either half gone, or we have half a growing season left. We still have time to plant some summer veggies and extend our harvests as deep into fall as possible, plus we can start planting our fall veggies as well.
Thanks for the kind words and support 😁🐕❤️

9:00 Pro Tip: Place rocks inside your bird bath. The birds find it a more natural habitat and will "flock" to it. lolz
@chantaltulliez8066
@chantaltulliez8066 4 жыл бұрын
Putting rocks also helps insects to use it so they won't drown...also I would put the bird bath in a shade of a tree or close to a bush for safety and easy access. You don't want your water to be so hot that the birds won't use it...
@glenncordova4027
@glenncordova4027 4 жыл бұрын
I use a flat paver in the bottom of my bird bath. It is thin an flat and the birds seem to like it. Most birds sit around the rim to drink but till I put the paver in, the birds seemed to avoid it. With a paver in they flock around it. Maybe the paver keeps the water cool. I don't know.

Hi Ashlyne, I live in San Antonio and the Fall is actually the best time to garden in the our area. Getting plants started now is actually a fantastic idea. Good on you! There's a book called "Month-By-Month Gardening in Texas" by Dan Gill that I use to help me know what to plant each month. Helps me a lot. Hope this helps!

Water on leaves in the sweltering heat will also burn the plant. I've had to teach my husband after losing nearly a dozen plants in the hottest part of the day. It's usually better to water early in the morning or around the time the sun is setting or after it's down. Then I still only water the base of my tomato plants as well as many others. Hehe... Tuck digging in the garden reminds me of Jacques from "Lady and the Tramp" burying his bones. Such a sweet furbaby. ☺️

that had a plethora of good advice - exactly when I needed it. I would get to intense on what you were saying and Tuck comes in and everything is candy canes and lollipops again, and then I would get caught up in what you were saying and Tuck comes in and back to candy canes and lollipops and the ending - freaken awesome - and just when you can't get any cuter the head resting on the top on the ground- yep, saving that video for a bad day cause that will lift anybody's heart in any given day!!! hugs and kisses to Tuckmeister and greatly appreciate you tips, always

I started my food forrest this spring, my lingonberry is already fruiting, all the trees are growing well, my persimmons are just now starting to leaf and the raspberries recently started leafing as well. My asparagus and blackberries have been going strong for a few months now on growth, my comfrey rows are leafed out well, but most of my flowers didn't take to direct seeding, so next spring I plan on starting them in my garage in the window and transplanting them. Ultimately I learned alot about what starts well direct seed and doesn't lol. My fennel, rosemary, dill and mint are doing really well, using them to scent mask. Thanks for all the wisdom you have shared and given freely, may God continue to bless you James.

Your grow box for seedlings is pure genius! I put my seedlings under the patio table and drape the table with bird netting. The table has a metal mesh top so some sunlight filters through. I will definitely try to make one like yours for next year.

Tuck reminds me of our tiny Silkie ....named Rip. He was a digger too. And loved carrots and radishes. Thanks James for sharing all this progressive gardening strategies. I just started some bush beans and cucumbers.... I may start 2 more types of Tomatoes. I live in SoCal so we still have alot of growing time. I had to use hard wire cloth around my tomatoes to keep the rodents out. The extra benefits was... it also kept the tomato-worm moths out too... not a single tomato hook worm thus far. Thanks again... love you channel.

I love your channel. I am trying my best to start a garden myself here in Queens NY. so far I have grape tomato plant. I notice every time I check on plant the tomato are less. Now I know its the birdies that stop by and pick 'em.

Those tomato clips work great. I bought some after I watched your video on them and they are awesome. I've used them for my tomatoes that are outgrowing their cages and and for training cucumbers to a welded wire trellis. I'm glad you did that video. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks so much for your videos. They are so informative and help me with some of my gardening issues. I appreciate all the help I can get since I am starting to really enjoy my gardening more and more each year and always look forward to spring when I can start all over again. There is just something about growing things on my own that gives me such a great feeling of accomplishment. Not to mention it tastes so much better than the store bought veggies.
