Zu "Ich werd' nicht mehr" kenne ich noch als Variation "Ich werd' nicht mehr wieder", wovon das erste vielleicht nur eine Kurzfassung ist. "Ich werd' nicht mehr wieder" könnte man vielleicht als "Ich werde nicht wieder (geistig) normal, gesund, vor lauter Ärger / Schreck" verstehen. - Vielen Dank wieder für das lustige und erhellende Video.

Ich denke "das hat was" ist nicht so verwirrend, da "das gewisse etwas" auch im Englischen vorkommt (im Gegensatz zum Deutschen sogar oft im französischen Original: a certain je ne sais qoui). Ich frage mich, ob "du kannst mich mal" durch zensierte Goethe-Ausgaben in den allgemeinen Sprachgebrauch kam (Götz von Berlichingen: Sag er ihm: Er kann mich - - - (wirft das Fenster zu)). Nebenbei, in der unzensierten Fassung wird *im* nicht *am* A***h geleckt.

Goethe hat diese Phrase mit ziemlicher Sicherheit nicht erfunden und die Selbstzensur beim Schimpfen gibt's auch schon sehr lang. So lange, dass viele teilweise die Herkunft nicht mehr kennen, wie z.B. bei "Oh Je! - Ein gestopptes "Oh Jesus!", da es ja als frommer Mensch ungehörig ist, den Namen des Herrn zu missbrauchen. In dieselbe Kategorie gehören die mittlerweile auch schon wieder etwas veralteten Flüche Sackzement (statt Sakrament) und Kruzitürken (statt Kruzifix ... aus der schlechten alten Zeit, wo der Gebrauch von Ausländern als Fluch im Gegensatz zum Gebrauch sakraler Begriffe als Fluch als völlig unbedenklich empfunden wurde).Aus der weltlichen Kategorie fällt mir noch Schei ... be(nkleister) ein.

@@chrisrudolf9839 Ist bei Goethe nicht der einzige Fall. In der Walpurgisnachtszene im Faust 1 sind ein paar Zeilen nicht mehr verständlich, da zu viel Wörter durch Striche ersetzt sind. Während man beim Götz das nicht gesagte problemlos im Kopf ergänzen (und deshalb beim Sprechen weglassen) kann, ist das im Faust nicht möglich. Die Schauspieler brauchen an dieser Stelle einen Text ohne Lücken. Das Goethe das Götz-Zitat nicht selbst erfunden hat, ist klar (der Ausdruck ist auch als Schwäbischer Gruß bekannt). Die Frage ist, wer genau hat im Druck das Anstößige verdeckt (auf der Bühne hat es mit Sicherheit nicht gefehlt). Edit: In der Druckausgabe von 1773 ist der Satz noch vollständig.)

I love your channel !! Just lately, I have been connecting a lot of dots about Mexico...Mexico was ruled by Austria many years ago, in the 1800's and a lot of "German" words and costumes are still around. Such is the education system, specially arithmetic, the alphabet, A,E,I,O,U. , the emphasis on the letter RRRRRRR, the salute to the flag (right hand straight, arm bent and hand touching the chest with the thumb, or the other one; similar to the German soldier salute in WWII, with the hand straight and extended arm pointing upwards). The fabulous and tasty beer, the word "PANZA"=panzer? which means 'stomach'..(..' stomach as strong as a battletank..'?..) The country music here is based on the 'German polka' known for the use of the tuba and accordion...except here, they call it 'Banda music' or 'nortenya music' with the addition of very annoying voices-not in German-, but in Spanish. The word 'RAYA' which means LINE, The street names printed in beautiful ceramic plates and located at every street intersection..(not many left around..). and so on...A lot of German descendants live in city of Chihuahua city, which is very well known for being the capital of the 'rich people', because of the mining industry. (thought, a lot of blue eyes and blond hair around those areas, but they don't seem to celebrate their heritage out on the open very much..) When I open my beer, I say; Salud ! Viva Alemania !!( Long live Germany !!) .......and people look at me and give me the wtf? look..then I begin to chant in German...bringen sie mier di spicekarten..!!! (don't know what this means..it just sounds German...) I love your channel, and I love you too..!!!

Even after living in Germany for almost 7 years now. :) The biggest struggle for me is about so called "bestimmte" and "unbestimmte" articles. In my native language (Polish) we don't use them. :) So when my teacher said to me "und was ist mit dem bestimmten Artikel in Ihren Satz"? I simply answered..."Ah, das...erm...ich mache meine eigene Regeln (in Deutsche Sprache)..also...wer braucht bestimmte und unbestimmte Artikel?" :) I took it with humor and...luckily my teacher too.

Ist nicht genau dasselbe. Wenn du jemanden oder etwas satt hast, bist du ja nicht notwendigerweise sauer auf ihn, sondern möglicherweise auch nur gelangweilt oder von seiner Art genervt. Jemanden (nie etwas) gefressen haben hingegen beinhaltet immer, dass man sich über die Person geärgert hat. Eine bessere Entsprechung wäre "Mit dem bin ich fertig!"

Yes. The Austrian version of this is much shorter: Oida! "Oida" is the only word you need to know. Of course, you also need to learn the appropriate inflections, but that is probably best learned at an acting school :-)

Luckily, the invitation to lick that person's backside is a one-time affair. Kind of an equivalent to the American English "Kiss THIS." So, it could be kinky if that's where one's mind is, but it's (almost) certainly not intended as such.

Actually, we Americans have a near identical phrase to "Den hab ich gefressen," but it has the opposite connotation. We say, "I could just eat you up!" when speaking about someone who's super cute. Typically used when talking about a child or infant. e.g. "You're so cute, I could just eat you up!"

Seltsam, ich kenne jemanden/etwas "gefressen haben" als das ziemliche Gegenteil, jemanden/etwas besonders gut finden. Das, was du als Hauptbedeutung nennst, war für mich eher die ironische Verwendung. Weiß jetzt nicht, obs ein regionaler Unterschied ist, oder ob ichs einfach bisher immer falsch interpretiert habe... Wobei ich normalerweise schon Ironie und direkte Aussagen an der Betonung unterscheiden kann und es daher unwahrscheinlich finde, dass ich ausgerechnet in diesem Fall diese beiden Varianten vertauscht haben soll ;)

Also ich kenn die positive Variante nur in der Form "jemanden zum Fressen (süß) finden" bzw. jemanden "zum Fressen gern haben". Was schon irre genug ist. Aber ich will nicht ausschließen, dass es regional auch die Vergangenheitsform in der positiven Variante gibt.

Yep. English is nice like that. Animals and humans both 'eat'. You could use 'gobble (up)', but that has more the implication of "herunterschlingen". There is the intransitive use of 'feed' analogous to "fressen" (e.g. a deer feeding on grass) but it's far less common than just 'eat'.
