5 Glitches Speedrunners Use In Subnautica

Sadly some of these glitches have been patched in a recent update.

@@NINJAKCDX nah the ai knows players do that there, watch the way games that have jumpscare enemy despawns behave. it wont spawn required materials for whatever you looked at last, if you find two good things while spending more than 2 minutes in an area it will attempt to cause combat, etc

There is another glitch where you can walk underwater as if you’re on land and you take fall damage but you can’t drown

It is used but only really in moist% runs where you have to stay out of the water for as much of the run as possible.

​@@Jaimse9stupid speedruns like moist% are not made to challenge anyone, these are made by noobs that cannot beat any of the more popular ones, so they create the most dumb speedruns known to mankind which nobody can't even see so they could think they are cool by placing top on the most random, out of pocket speedruns. And yes, I am talking about moist%. IT'S A GAME ABOUT ENDLESS OCEAN AND IT'S DEPTHS, NOT ABOUT BEING N O T MOIST. People who make or do this speedrun don't touch water, but in fact, they do not touch grass...

There's also the ghost inventory. Glitch in which you interact with the starting chest and then interact with the hatch to quickly skip the animation and you can open the chest anywhere.

number 2 is because the player has a snorkel and is a feature

„It’s not a bug, it’s a feature“ - programming 101 But honestly that’s probably just a side effect from defining the water level by a y-coordinate instead of always having to check for the current wave height, which improves performance slightly.

I think the second one is intentional, since the tank is designed to siphon air from all sources. So maybe theres a bit of it sticking above the surface or something?

No it isn‘t. You‘re meant to breath on the surface but the game checks your z coordinate. If it‘s less or equal to 0 you get o2. (Except for stuff like the moonpool, there you can only breath once surfaced.)

I'm not sure how, but I managed to make my oxygen, hunger, and thirst locked at max, and entering habitats/vehicles/going on land didn't reset it. I think it was where the water/air shield at one of the 4 emperor's habitat teleport gates, the one with the pinkcap mushrooms. I renember saving and using my prawn suit, I wonder how I triggered it. it was a pretty positive glitch though, made the rest of my game easy

Number 3 is such a good one, especially because I now don’t have to worry about my seamoth getting bullied by bonesharks without me noticing while I’m in the wreck. It has died on me twice that way, but I do still want to loot the floating island wreck for the swim charge fins (I’m not at the deepest degasi base yet, but would still like to have those in my current casual playthrough.)

I think there is acctually a place im tge Lost River where the hit box for the map is just missing

WARNING: this is a long message, so buckle up and get ready There is, and there's surprisingly two. I don't remember exactly where this one is because I never use it due to coming across it accidentally, but you can just phase right through the floor by one of the vents that gets covered by the flora of the lost river, the brime covers the spot too, making it more difficult to do; it is possible to phase through only if you get a ghost or river prowler to attack you right on it. The other one isn't easy to find, but its closer to the dunes entrance to the lost river. Hug the point between the left wall and floor and you'll find it if you have enough luck to go down the correct corridor or get into the dune's lost river entrance. If you need the help finding the entrance, its by another entrance, so don't get the dunes grassy plateau trench and the dunes trench confused, they may be connected, but there's a total of two entrances in the connected trench, the safest way to enter the trench is to hug the side of the transition from grassy plateau to sparse reef and you won't be able to miss it, or find yourself a lovely screaming reaper encounter at the entrance point to the dunes and bravo, look to the left because there's no way you'll miss it then.

I don't understand why using cheats in speedruns is prohibited and using glitches and bugs isn't... everything which changes normal way of play should be prohibited...

glitches is exploiting the game mechanics without altering them, cheats can alter the mechanics or spawn something that couldn't be obtained. There is a no glitch speedrun category too
