I remember Casey Jones and touch of grey when I was little but they didn't get much airplay. After seeing this I wish they would have and that we had more guitarists like this to be influencers.I wonder if David Gilmore or Mark knopfler were influenced by or vice versa Jerry Garcia?

China Cat ain't nuthin' without the Weir part (although THAT is hardly "for beginners").

China Cat is the song that really brought me in as a Deadhead. If I want to show somebody what the Dead are all about, that's what I play for them.

Great stuff, but the title is kind of click bait. For beginners? Really? I'm not exactly a beginner anymore, but I thought this was about learning these riffs. It wasn't. However, I will be checking out more of these videos, because he has really got that Garcia sound. But please, no more click bait.

When I was an idiot in my youth that had not absorbed enough diverse music I didn’t get the Dead. In college I was exposed to and absorbed African music, electronic music, jazz, psychedelic music of the 60’s, funk, Brazilian music of the 60’s and 70’s… then one day I was riding in a car with a friend that had some concert playing as he picked me up. When the conversation died down I heard some crazy, elaborate solo that I immediately loved and asked who it was. Grateful Dead. He told me to listen to 3 different concert albums. I did. Years later I can say the Dead are one of my favorite bands ever.
