Road Blasters is a great game! Startropics is one I I've tried and gotten pretty far into... but I get so frustrated with it! Glad to see Preacher make a cameo!
@RetrocartCollector6 ай бұрын
I was just playing Star Tropics the other day and got to the point of frustration with it too, but I can’t get it out of my head that I need to get back to it. 🤦♂️ I was glad he was able to join as well. But that NES of his, super dirt!! 😂🤣😂

startropics is such fire. i remember playing it back in the day and just loving it. But the puzzles and stuff get tougher. Then you need the dive frequency. Some people theorized this was anti-rental/piracy method to keep places from renting the game out and people beating the game without the frequency/paper to dip in water. Think some places just wrote the code somewhere in the manual or on the rental case to get around that
@RetrocartCollector6 ай бұрын
It’s a great game for sure I keep wanting to go back to it. That frequency paper is so unique and I could totally see it being something like that! I wonder how many rental stores just chucked that letter along with the box and stuck the booklet and cartridge in the rental case without even knowing. 🤣

Awesome video! I have a lot of nostalgia for Tiny Toon Adventures and I really need to pick that one up. I keep hearing people talk about Star Tropics and I really need to check it out.
@RetrocartCollector6 ай бұрын
Thanks so much man! Me too, Tiny Toons Adventures as a whole is super nostalgic to me. Star Tropics is different, but once your past that (and the slightly janky movement controls) it’s totally worth a play. I was just playing it again this morning.

All great titles! I haven’t even thought about Road Blasters for over 30 years, but when I saw those green globes on the road it all came back! Star Tropics is just fantastic. Also, it’s a funny play through see how it was created by early 90s Japanese folks strictly for an American audience. The stereotypes are absolutely hilarious! Let’s see some SNES under 30$! Now, that’s a challenge!

That’s awesome! 😂 That’s great when something like that brings back memories of these games. Right! Star Tropics is great! It’s super interesting and unique because of that for sure. That’s crazy it was done like that. SNES! Challenge accepted! 😂

Road Blasters in the arcades was one of my favorites. I remember it always feeling so smooth, back then. I don't know if that carries over to the NES version. I'm sure it would feel different without the steering wheel, at least...
@RetrocartCollector6 ай бұрын
It might loose a little for sure being a NES port but it is super fun. One of my favorites for sure! I wish I had played it in the arcades!

I owned DD3 as a kid and yeah a bit on the NES hard side but added weapons and added characters is cool.
@RetrocartCollector6 ай бұрын
That’s awesome, it is absolutely NES hard! That one kicks my butt all the time. It is pretty cool with those added to it, I had never made it that far until it was mentioned for this video. 🤦♂️

I played double dragon 2 first, loved it, still a favorite till this day. Double dragon 1 played 2nd on a rental, was devastated it wasnt 2 player coop but 2 player VS, and i rented it when a buddy was over. DD 3 I always wanted to play but i think it was always out at the one rental store, then that rental store closed down eventually. I do need to get 1 and 3, might get them for famicom since i have 2 for nes still
@RetrocartCollector6 ай бұрын
Oh man! If you can get 1 and 3 that would be awesome, they are such classics. That’s awesome you rented 2 and 1 back in the day. I think I rented 1 a few times and got my butt kicked 😂 😂

For Blaster Master. Unless your aiming for the classic NES version there is a remake on current gen consoles; Blaster Master Zero. Its $10 and has been remade from the ground up. The story was rewritten and best of all you can actually save! Something missing from the NES version.
@RetrocartCollector6 ай бұрын
That’s awesome!! I’ll have to look for that one and try it out! That would be nice to be able to save! Thanks for the comment!
@LargeAmoeba6 ай бұрын
@@RetrocartCollector No problem. If you like it they actually made it into a trilogy. With Blaster Master Zero 2 and Blaster Master Zero 3. Though the first game works just fine as a stand alone. Word of advice there are different endings too.

remove connector from NES, boil for 20 minutes.....dry it with 99% rubbing alcohol....wait 5 minutes for it to dry.....proceed to the game....use a game bit, .00000 steel wool, and 99% alcohol and say goodbye to blowing games and say hello to games working 100% of the time.....repeat console cleaning process every 6 months
@RetrocartCollector6 ай бұрын
I dunno, seems like a lot of work. I think I would try that running microwave he found the NES in tho. I’m sure that would fix it up 😂😂
@floridapunkarchivist6 ай бұрын
@@RetrocartCollector it’s usually the NES more so than the game and there’s only about 18 screws in the NES so getting to the connector honestly takes around 4 minutes. Trust me you’ll be amazed. Maybe I should do a one shot time lapse video of the process that might be cool.
