Another very well done video in which you, Evan, present the 5 master instruments excellently. It is always exciting to listen to different master guitars!👍 Thank you for sharing and musical greeting !😊

The Damman is the most beautiful sound to my ears. Thank you for playing that piece, it matches my level so you have really inspired me yet again

Nice Evan! Blackwell caught my ear here (again). Surprised to hear the Traphagen holding its own. I really like these comparison videos!

Liked the Blackwell best, was surprised by how much I didn't like the Tolz. (Maybe in a different mood one of the others would be my top choice..)

Blackwell by quite a margin. I thought I would like the Damman best. I am sure playing them in real life gives the sound a lot more nuance and details, also what the player hears is not the same as the listener. In this case Blackwell easy win, Walter and Tolz I liked the least (still great guitars don't get me wrong), Traphagen nr3, Damman nr2.

Nice but nothing close to the best Spanish makers of any period.

@@nebovas9432 when you say nothing close to the best Spanish makers....How far apart are they? maybe your ears are just different or for that matter , what is between the ears...in your case , Its certainly not decorum

@@cosbro5389Look, if you are looking for loudness, there is an improvement in modern guitar making. Everything else: tone colour before anything is not there. Depends what you like. You can't force me to like what you like.

There is no hostility that needs to be taken from saying that I disagree! As far as volume being the only advantage of modern guitars, this is the trope as old as time. That being said, there are some nice advantages to traditionally built guitars, that’s for sure. There are also some ridiculously bad sounding modern guitars, probably an equal number to bad sounding traditional guitars, if not more (if makers make a ‘modern’ guitar just because they see it as a trend, this normally results in an exceptionally bad instrument). But it’s just not been my experience that modern guitars lack a large palette of color, dynamic range etc. This is also the experience of most of the people that I know who have had the chance to intimately get to know guitars by all of the most famous makers, old and new. Still, you would never find me saying something opposite of what you are saying, like “modern guitars don’t compare to traditional guitars”, because these types of statements are simply not true. I think we ought to be careful when speaking in absolutes! There are some brilliant makers out there!
