The Daewoo K2 rifles are very good. I'd love to get my hands on one of the current models that the ROK army uses. All ROK weapon systems are compatible with US weapons systems. The rifling twist of the K series mirrors US rifles. Early K1 and K2 were 1:12 because they used the same older M193 ball ammo that the US used in the M16A1. When the US switched over to the heavier M855, the ROKs changed their barrels over to 1:7 as well. This was intended to ease logistics for ammo in the event of a shooting war with the DPRK. This keeps logistics simple on Pen.
@SW-ii5gg2 жыл бұрын
I heard that they used the remaining of the 1 in 12 twist barrels when they started production of the K2 civilian model before switching to the 1 in 7 twist, so some of the early K2 came in with 1 in 12.

I was an Air Force weapons instructor stationed at Kunsan ROK back in 85/86. One day we got to play with the ROK's Air Force's K1-A1s Great little carbines. It used an AR type bolt but the ejector was a blade that was attached to the lower and the bolt and carrier had a groove cut in the under side for it. As you say, accuracy left something to be desired but it was intended to be more of a close quarters rifle and the military version employed a much shorter barrel, about 12" + the flash suppressor. Kind of like a knock off of our GAU-5A/A. The wire stock made for an uncomfortable cheek weld, but it was very small.

The P7 M8 or M13 is in deed one of the best choices! What most people don't know: the grip safety not only works as a safety, but you can also use it as a secondary trigger. After firing, keep the trigger pressed and you can shoot by squeezing the grip! A great gun, even though H&K sucks when it comes to civilian customers...

My brother called them my "c0ck squeezers" vs. squeeze cockers. I also purchased an HK-91 around that time. They, as well as the 93 and 16" HKk-94 could be had for $750 regularly at the time. Amazing tools, still have them to this day, which is more than I can say for the wife. Still want one a nickel P7, however. Great list, James.

The Luger P-08 was described as a " machinist's nightmare"! It involves no less than 50 times of setting the entire barrel, receiver and frame for machining works.. 5:33 to me, if you remove the squeeze cocker, you remove exactly why the P7 was the P7 to begin with. That squeeze cocker was a great device for people worried about gun safety. However, I do like the concept of using a grip safety. I suppose the gun could operate more like the S&W EZ-series, which doesn't cost too much, but does require a squeeze to use. 16:30 If H&K doesn't want to reintroduce a roller lock/roller delayed 5.56, maybe PTR Industries would build one.
