Can't get a feeling for the max and min capacitances. How about stopping the caps at max and min instead of the useless spinning with the capacitance meter trying to keep up?

Very good video, thank you very much, what I could not find is how to cut the plates, since there are not always places to cut them.

KY8D here with ideas for enhancement. First there's the problem of electrical resistance. All of those physical joins. And aluminum stays shiny because of a micro-thin layer of oxide corrosion (which is basically saphire, and highly resistant). How about maybe using a product called AlumiWeld to join all those sections along one edge (maybe even across the stacked spacers) direcly to a lengh of Cu bar stock (or even Cu pipe)? That separately for the stator and rotor. Electrically and physically then, each would be a single piece. Resistance problem solved. Anyhow, I'm going to try this. Won't be for a few months, though. So thought I'd mention. Secondly, may I suggest laser cutting as an alternative to CNC machining for all of those plates? Cheaper by half. Maybe only a little more than buying a Russian surplus vaccuum variable...but without the bellows fatigue-life shortfall. Just my ideas, for what they're worth.

Excellent product .Congratulations. I would have rounded up the edges and the corners to stop discharge at the higher voltages.

I run into you again...lol I am following a path that I hope will lead me back to where I was a few years ago when Grandpa Don was around. I have to say that I know for a fact that the B+W coils are magick. You may know what I am talking about. I had friends that did research on RF coils and the original research on those types of coils is very enlightening. believe that Don's were hiding a structural secret. One coil was copper and the other was aluminum. These capacitors are great but the ones that I have seen work better are made of PCB blanks. There is a video on them. These will do exactly what you need them to do. I also found out the hard way that we need 50kv/20amp diodes after the full wave center tap. My working builds used coils and diodes as well as capacitors from Grandpa Don and now he is gone so I have to reevaluate the values of everything used. I was privy to so much and I did not even realize it at the time.
