The people of Pompeii weren't turned into molten rock statues by lava flows, they were covered in ash which left hollow outlines of their bodies.

Pyroclastic flows preserved the shells of what used to be those ancient Pompeians. So, it was more like superheated ash, gas, and pulverized Molten rock that killed them and preserved them and their city

Mount Pinatubo was the one of the worst Volcanic Eruption in Philippine History. It claimed a handful of people and to make matters worse a typhoon was heading in the Philippines at that time making it even harder for us Filipinos. 2 Major Natural Disasters in one go 😩

The death toll ran in the few hundreds but it could have gone higher had the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology together with the United States Geological Survey monitored Pinatubo for nearly a year and issued timely evacuation warnings. The nearby US military bases of Clark Air Base and Subic Bay Naval Base were completely evacuated, and the lease was not renewed by the Philippine government the following year. For about a decade, the rainy season would dislodge lahar deposits and wash them down river channels, scouring the mostly barren landscape.

Taal? If you were going to cover a volcano near Manilla, why didn't you do Mt Pinatubo? Its eruption near the main US air base was legendary, and a lot more destructive.

For real, it still holds the largest eruption in the past 30 years. It's a VEI 6 compared to VEI 4 eruption of Taal 2020. Hunga Tonga's eruption was also strong but it's a VEI 5 eruption.

Mt. Pinatubo after being dormant for 611 years was one of the more destructive volcanic eruption in 1991… it was massive and even visible from space. It actually pushed Americans to give-up the Subic and Clark airbases because it buried everything on its path in lahar.

Other people have pointed out that Vesuvius’s 79 Ad eruption is a VEI-5 not 4, which means it actually dwarfed the ones you said it was equal to. Also it’s called a Plinian Eruption after Pliny the Younger, not a Vesuvian eruption, and it’s not uncommon for Kilauea to be erupting in two places at once, in fact it was doing that the whole time during its 1983 eruption because of its lava lake at the summit, since even having a lava lake present counts as an eruption. Good job on pronouncing Eyjafjallajökull though, most people don’t get that right.
@The_Dudester
@The_Dudester Жыл бұрын
Actually, Pliny the Younger, wasn't "there" (Pompeii). He was in Naples, on the other side of the bay. His uncle, Pliny the Elder did die in the vicinity of Pompeii. Pliny had already rescued one boatload of people. When he went back to get more, he disappeared among the smoke and ash. On a side note, Pliny the Younger's description of a pyroclastic cloud was taken as the object of a child's (he was 13) imagination until Mount St. Helens emitted a pyroclastic cloud in 1980.

Just remember that NO volcano is ever really dead. I mean… Devil’s Tower is. But that’s just the petrified neck of an eroded away volcano. If the main slope body is there, it can erupt. Mount Erebus, in Antarctica was dubiously labeled as ‘dormant’ only for someone checking it to say, “Nope! Scratch that! Erebus has an active lava lake. This guy’s not dormant, not at all!” The lake has been under study ever since. …it’s do pretty! And I want to see it

I'm going to add my penny's worth to this. Doesn't anyone do even the slightest bit of research or fact checking on this channel? They clearly don't, because such egregious errors wouldn't have made it through the process! The victims in Pompeii in 79AD weren't entombed in molten rock, as the narrator so boldly claims, but were engulfed and entombed by volcanic ash carried by pyroclastic flows. That ash hardened over time, forming natural molds that were then filled with plaster of Paris by the people who excavated them. A junior school child who was even half awake during their lessons could tell you this, so how can can you make such an error and allow it to stand? You should take this video down immediately and re-do and re-record the script, but I know you won't. That's why I'm never going to subscribe to this channel- your videos are often full of such outrageous mistakes that no-one at this channel has any intention of rectifying, thus showing your contempt for your viewers, and lack of production values!

Our Canadian boys just plowed through their objective in a day, but we didn't have the high cliffs that the Yanks had. The Brits had trouble also. Uncle Otto USMC said they didn't want to move unless they saw a Maple leaf beside them and the Germans dreaded coming up against the Canadians. I got to love history because I grew up around WWII vets and a WWI vet. My Dad (foster Dad) served with the Royal Canadian Regiment, uncle Johnny was with the PPCLI, Uncle Otto USMC. When I talk about the first and second wars I learned from guys who were there. Not from your books. Uncle Harold was in the Korean war.

Who cares about Hawaii. The Island of Martinique was much worse. Why is that not in here? Hawaiians have chosen to live in that mess, for centuries. It is an ongoing issue, not a surprise. Thus, I don't understand why Hawaii would even be in this video, when Martinique was suddenly devastated, with a lot of human death..
