What I like most about your presentations is that you come across as a "real" person, without the bragging or arrogance you can see in others. Keep up the good work.

I wholly agree! I love that he just talks to us and tells us what we need to know without that “super-salesman”, arrogant persona that puts the attention on the speaker/teacher rather on the information.

Well I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of weeks and they are amazing. I just went in and joined your publishers group, and then went to the Facebook page to join that. When it came to all the questions that needed to be answered to see if your Admins will allow me to join the group, I noticed that you didn’t have an option for someone like me. One particular set of questions gave options like I’ve already self published with no luck, I’m stuck in a 9-to-5 job, etc., but none of those apply to me so I literally had to pick something completely incorrect because it would not allow me to join your group unless I chose one of your incorrect options. As much as I’m not a public person, I have to be honest and tell you that I’m in way worse shape than any of the options that you guys gave. Lol. I’m completely unemployed right now and only have two months worth of money left if that, before I have to do something drastic like crack open a very tiny 401(k) that’s only gonna hold me for another five or six months if I’m lucky. Unlike away old lady now only five years from 60, I haven’t been able to get a job and I will go on and on with this but dude, it would be so great if you would give someone a chance to be honest in those options and add another option for people like me who are flat broke, ready to do this, but have no crutches to lean on. I sure hope those folks let me join, and I’m grateful that I’ve been watching your success story the last couple weeks as it gives me hope that perhaps I too can be in the publishing field. I’ve got a pretty decent voice I think I could self narrate my audiobooks without having to pay for that, I already have a publishing company name established from 30 years ago that I never used for books, just briefly for a couple of songs in a B-movie, so maybe there’s something I can work with. Sorry to put this long giant thing here, but just wanted to connect and hopefully you will consider adding that broke option for those of us who are. Always worked my whole life but somehow I just can’t get a job at this age because ageism exists. I don’t think it will matter in the publishing game. Lol. Sorry for the long read y’all, thanks to those who hung in and I’ll take anyone’s advice, I’m open to learning! Thx in advance

If I understand what you are saying, the only way to be successful in self publishing is to pay a large sum of money for multiple book covers and ghost writers and pay Amazon a minimum of $5 per day! It sounds like the only way to be successful in self publishing a book is that you have to be wealthy.

#5 trying to find the 'perfect' keyword, yes that's a very common and insidious mistake. I find myself filling the LADDR lister with so many keywords and only fail to finalize. Okay, my goal should be only to find a good one :) Golden advice!

I am unsure of your point on Ghost Writers. Since this is an exercise in self-publishing. Are you suggesting making notes and finding a Ghost Writer and letting them do the work? Thank you.

Thank you, Dane. Your candid nature is very refreshing. You're a big help. What if we want our first book to be written about something we have overcome in our life? Is it okay to be our own writer for one book, then get it edited by a pro?

Hi Dane, Thanks for your video here. I have a question about advertising on AMZ. If we start advertising and the book gets noticed by AMZ customers. Does this allow us to slowly wind back our ad spend on AMZ as the AMZ algorithm simply keeps our BSR higher? Or, Are we just always going to have to have some sort of AMZ ad spend continuously running on our book?

Hi Dane thanks so much for your advice and things to look out for! By the way, it doesn't seem as well covered, have you/or could you consider providing an overview of publishing public domain work successfully and within the legal parameters? I think it'd be a very helpful video and useful for the self-publishing community, thanks for thinking of it and for sharing your knowledge!

Dane Do you use upwork ever? It has been down this past few days here. What other programs would you use in place of it? Thank you Len
@DaneMcBeth3 жыл бұрын
Hey Len, yes, I use Upwork almost every other hour of the day (constantly). It has been working for me fine for the past few days... Maybe try logging in and out again? That could fix the issue! Other sites like OnlineJobs.ph are good as well!

Hi Dane How do you do the different tests for covers , bulletpoints , description Do you publish the same book several times with different covers and descriptions? Because once the book is live you can’t change a lot of things
@DaneMcBeth3 жыл бұрын
The only thing you can change once your book is live is the Paperback title and some other info to do with the Paperback (ex: ISBN #). Other than that, you can still edit and test quite a few things like cover designs, book descriptions, interior, etc.

Great video! Ads are sooo important for sales, but I still haven’t mastered how to get the keywords I advertise on to actually rank for my books. Do you have any advice for when ads are running and selling books, but the book still isn’t ranking for its main keywords? This happens to me with lots of low content books.
@DaneMcBeth3 жыл бұрын
Low Content books are a lot different in terms of advertising in comparison to High Content books from my experience. However, in order to rank, you're going to need to get sales when bidding on those specific keywords... In order to do that, your listing needs to be top notch in order to get any clicks from people who see your Ad. In other words, you'll need a very high quality cover/title combination to draw people in and then an excellent book description that sells and doesn't exactly 'tell' if you want to get the customer's attention and make the sale once they land on your product page.

Dane what is the proper amount to spend on ads when your launching? Also how frequently? I havent got to that part yet in your paid training lol
@extencityhair3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dane, thanks so much for the info:) I just wanted to ask about testing different covers. How many covers can you test? I was under the impression that duplicate book content goes against the terms. How long can you test these covers for once you upload them and run ads trying them out?
@DaneMcBeth3 жыл бұрын
I would test a different cover on a weekly basis in the beginning if you can. After a month of testing 4, see which one sold the best and continue with that one :)
@extencityhair3 жыл бұрын
Ahh okay, thanks. Do you regularly create a few covers for each book launch? Just drawing up a budget for all expenses@@DaneMcBeth
@DaneMcBeth3 жыл бұрын
@@extencityhair Yeah definitely. I will usually get 3-4 versions made and test them all to see what sells best. You never know how much of a difference a cover can make with sales until you actually test it. Oftentimes it's the one you least expect :)

@DaneMcBeth - Do Fiverr or it’s artist grant full right to ownership of the illustrations for a book cover .I already paid for a non Fiverr illustrator to create my cover. Just to see what version a Fiverr artist would create using the same cover idea, I would try it.

Hey Dane what do you think of ghostwriting companies that are offering the entire book basically (Writing, editing, formatting, and the cover) like Ghostwriting Founder, American Ghostwriting, and Professional Ghostwriter for about $500. It seems to cheap to be of even subpar quality? What are your thoughts? :)
