I should also NOTE that when I say add in singles I don't just mean even 2-3 weeks out. This is a tactic when done correctly you can do as many as 8 or more weeks out. I will make an in depth video on the most optimal way of doing this. Many coaches program this in different ways. RTS seems to like singles @ 7-8 weekly for months straight sometimes and use it the most readily as where other coaches choose a more tame route. I believe it lands in the middle and highly depends on the lifter. I will make this video soon. I also have a few other videos coming as well!

can't wait for that video (although probably to late). I'm 4 weeks out of a gym meet and I'm doing exactly what you describe in the the video. Volume block --> Strength block --> peak and taper only doing singles in the last 3 training weeks. I'm also trying to functionally overreach 3 weeks out by increasing the volume of the week before by 150-200%. and decreasing the volume in the last 2 training weeks. Not sure if this is the correct way to overreach or even if all volume should be in competition lifts.

I'm not even a competitive powerlifter but I still like to watch these just for the knowledge. Good video man

Thanks for good info. I am 4 weeks out from my first meet and this video came at the right time.

Do you typically stick with the wave loading design you speak of. It's something I've done in the past and seen results but switched over to a different style? You have much more experience than me in programming and I'm wondering if that's what you see to work best with most people. Thanks for the great info as always.

Oh man I miss the squat and deadlift bar. Unfortunately I can only use them at the meet, but they feel so nice!

Nice tips man! What you think about RTS emerging strategies programming, since is different from your style of programming with wave loading etc. ???

Brendan, any chance you're going to make another free (or paid!) program soon? I know there are a million different ways to program, and I've loved your 12-week program (gonna give it a good write-up on reddit when I'm done), so I'd love to see you put out another program - maybe an offseason one? Thanks v much

TheLordoflard I actually am planning to release group coaching/programming! Next year this will be available! It’ll be semi customizable and extremely affordable! Will come with collective coaching in a group 😏 been planning this for a year and just waiting for the new tax season

Dude, lay off the caffeine on recording days. You appear so very, very wired.....
@BrendanTietz5 ай бұрын
I actually was quite wired on caffeine back in these days. This video is years old. That’s the cost of powerlifting, tons of sympathetic drive. It’s really the only way to excel in powerlifting at a high level given the demand on the CNS. These days I don’t consumed much caffeine and rarely hype up at all. However I’m also probably done seating any total PRs unless I decide to do that again.
