A good tip I received from a kettelbell instructor and helped with the matter of the bell crushing into my forearm immediately was "punching" into the kettlebell handle actively while it comes to the upper position while cleaning it. This way your hand and the kettlebell reach the highest point at almost the same speed and the catching goes very smooth. Worked from the first repetition with most people in the course.
@Ba1aamsdonkey2 жыл бұрын
This makes a lot of sense. You’re essentially not letting the weight of the bell leave on your arm. You’re instead meeting it.
@BrocktonBombs10 ай бұрын
That’s a good cue, even more so with the KB snatch. But the key to avoiding the forearm bang is to keep the bell moving vertically, Close to the body, aka “taming the arc”. Punch with an arc an you’ll still get banged.
@dennisyang71632 жыл бұрын
I have watched numerous videos on KB snatches. None, I mean none, of them cleared out questions like you did. I could just do snatches without banging the KB against my forearm for the first time. Incredible, Marcus

Thanks, this is good! I work with an awesome trainer (now virtually) a couple of times a week and I practice on my own. Your explanation of the mechanics and moves both confirms and enhances what I am learning in training. Sometimes it helps to hear things in different words! Then repetition, practice and time helps the form sink in with me. You articulate the relationship between the hip hinge and creating weightlessness motion wonderfully.

Thx for the wisdom Marcus. Logical foundational sequence. During the 1st skill (hinge) demo one thing I noticed in the past for myself is needing to bring awareness to my neck/spine alignment through the hinge. I think it's really easy to have a bit of a rocking neck or one that doesn’t stay aligned to the spine through the movement. Your demo showed that component really cleanly just wanted to share I found focusing on it necessary as it would deviate from alignment initially. < ☕️ 3
