I’ve only just read the thumbnail and I agree 100%. I’m one of those people that have to binge watch all the videos and read everything i can on something new before acting on it. But I realized I just need to jump in and do it. Because if I don’t I’ll just sit here continuing to watch videos trying to gather that extra piece of research and I’ll never feel like I’m ready because there’s probably something out there that I do t know yet. So - I’m just jumping in and doing it. I’ll learn what i don’t know along the way. Wish me luck! 😊

This is going to seem like a strange comment and you'll probably be shocked to find out a 71 year old man is watching your video. I just wanted to say kudos to you and whoever taught you to write. You are the first young person I've seen in a long, long time who actually knows how to hold a pen/pencil. That probably contributes more than you realize to your skill set for art. Love the fountain pen too.

Thank you! I had a teacher in middle school who emphasized the importance of good penmanship. She had beautiful hand writing and it inspired me to get better.

Hi there! I was excited for this video. I'm 29 and on the journey to attempting to open an art shop for the 2nd time (the first time was in 2016, but I really didn't know what I was doing). It feels somewhat scarier than last time, but I feel like it's now or never, and I feel more mature/knowledgeable now and understanding of realistic expectations. I loved the message on the thumbnail, "Just get started". I feel like the universe was speaking to me when I saw it 😂 I've been watching your journey this year and I love coming to your content to get motivated! Also has been exciting to see your growth! I hope you get more success, your art makes me so happy!

I really love your videos, they are always so humble and encouraging! I have just taken the leap yesterday and gave up my job in order to pursue my art business! I was finding it so hard to put in the time I needed to with trying to juggle my job, my 1 year old son and my art. Was feeling very nervous and scared but watching this video and hearing your encouragement has made me feel so much better, thank you! ❤ you are right, you just have to start! You seem like such a lovely person!!!

I have been waiting myself. Last month I stopped waiting. I invested in what I want to do. I bought equipment and a website with less than 150 followers across instagram and Facebook. I basically took a giant leap off a huge cliff. It is exciting.

I know this is an old video but thank you so much for this. I have been digitally drawing for over 8 months now (with the intent of starting a business; I’ve actually been drawing since childhood) and am now struggling to select my art style. I am also researching, reading books on, taking courses, and taking notes on every little thing to plan the business. As a recovering perfectionist, your advice to “just do it” seems remarkably personal and like it was speaking to me lol. I’ve been following you for a bit and it’s been remarkable and inspiring to watch you grow. Best of luck with your endeavours and wishing you success and continued growth in the future Looking forward to what the future holds!

I got so into building my business and got my LLC set up but didn't realize i needed a city permit to run my business. The place i set up my LLC with didnt explain anything to me just took my money to help set it up and sent me on my merry way lol. Now in not sure if I can even legally run my business from my rental apartment because I need permission from my landlord and the owner of the apartment.. even if its just shipping out and selling things online. Definitely get all your research in place and make sure your even allowed to have a business from home before you spend all this time and money to set up and to have to stop dead in your tracks! Just my experiences with all of this! I definitely don't want to give up but i have been hit with so many obstacles and the fight of getting sent around in circles to figure out if you even have everything in place before starting is definitely a challenge! Not discouraging anyone but definitely do your research before hand! ❤

I ran into that issue some years ago. My workaround was renting a mailbox or something from a UPS store. The box number was considered a "suite". So your business address will be the address of the store, suite #x. So you can create and run your business out of the apartmwnt as long as customers aren't coming and going. All your shipping is to and from your "suite". Make sure you are able to do that in your city. I hope this info helps!

Thank you so much for sharing 💜 I've been doing art all my life, got a BFA in Studio Art in 2007, but have been working other jobs to pay the bills. Finally about to launch my own art shop, terrified, but taking the next steps anyway. Your content helps me feel calm and positive that I can figure this out, that I am qualified, that it's about time 💜✨️

Thank you, this video was well timed. I'm having a sales slump during what's supposed to be the busiest time of the year, and it was really starting to affect my attitude. But I've only been open a little under 3 months, and I have very little social media following. So I really needed the reminder that setbacks aren't failure, and the perspective that I've actually been doing great considering how new I am to all of this. Thank you for your insights and for all of the help you've given us. You've been extremely instrumental in the building of my business, and I'm grateful to you for all you've shared.

Totally understand that feeling! It's tough in the beginning and especially so when you feel like you could be further along but remembering what is realistic is is so important! I honestly feel like it so helpful and what kept me going. I knew that it was going to take time and that I had to be patient and as long as you stay consistent and are motivated to keep working/trying/learning, good things will come 😊 I want nothing but the best for you and I hope you find success and happiness 🐻❤️

@nim_ytyt ill be honest I fell off for a bit. im changing my game currently though. I dont knownhow to market properly and posting everyday isn't gonna get me there but learning how to market oneself Is the key to success. Go to craft fairs, create flyers, attend conventions, wear your product while out and about. I've changed to making hats. I'm adhd so it's hard for me to stick with one thing and repetition isn't my strong suit but I've got the hang of it now. The next part is just about getting the right equipment and having enough money to start. After that it's a breeze

This video was recommended to me. I was probably watching similar videos to help myself on my digital journey. The thumbnail was straightforward and clearly showed what the video is about. Great choice, and I love your typography. I’m on a journey of creating digital products too. I would say I’m a self-taught digital creator without formal education in graphic design. I realized that after long hesitation, just getting started and learning as you go is the right thing to do. So, I just launched my website for making digital business cards. I still don’t feel ready to call myself a graphic designer, so for now, I’m a digital creator.🙈 I’m still hesitating about starting a vlog to document my journey, but making KZbin videos has been on my mind for a long time. I’m glad I clicked on your video and am happy to be part of your community. Very soon, I would love to share my videos too…❤

This is the second video of yours I have watched and as I am still "thinking" about how to get started the things you say, the advice you give, and the WAY you say it resonates for me deep and true. If I could identify a list of mentors, I would definitely put you on that list as someone I was encouraged by. THANK YOU!😂 I will keep you posted on how I am doing. @@fructusillustrations That's the plan! I made some test stickers at home about a week ago and am considering getting a Cricut. I'm thinking I'll produce at home to start and maybe move to using a print service if things ramp up. Really appreciate you and other small business owners sharing info about the process and about not talking yourself out of getting started.

Hello, Jen. In watching your video entitled 5 Keys Insights for Artists Launching their Art Business you stress the importance of having/writing a plan. @4:05 you say that there's a link to another video where you shared your own plan. I can't find it. Please send me the link as I agree with you that about a plan's important but feel a bit lost about making one for myself. Thank you!
