I find the best lesson is to go into “observation mode” where you just try and survive the boss, watching and dodging and not attacking. You will absorb the boss’s moveset and be able to intuit every move. Also, sleep and come back. You will suddenly know what to do.

Finding your weapon is a great feeling in these games. In dark souls, it was the zweihander for me. Finding that weapon move set that "feels right" is the best. No matter what, GLHF, and continue seeking new challenges

@@hoodedbeasts Oh boy! Lol. I"ve played video games for 30 years. In 2019 I played Sekiro just by chance. Some hours into the game I wanted to cry. I went through the 5 stages of grief lol. I told myself I was not meant to play video games anymore, I was not good enough, got no skills. But I couldn't stop playing and trying. Finally I beat it and platino it. I've play only From Software games since. Elden Ring is my favorite game but Sekiro is THE perfect game. They 'ruined" gaming for me. I quit GoW Ragnarok because it bored the hell out of me. From Software games is peak gaming.

This is something I've been thinking about a lot lately when it comes to FromSoft games. Specifically, I was replaying Sekiro and I realized that the game is essentially a crisis management simulator. It gives you a relatively simple set of challenges and responses and then it expects you to pick the right response to a given challenge under pressure. Which, combined with the classic FromSoft approach to failure, is a really interesting and strangely uplifting process. Great video, thanks for sharing!

Hey, one of your buddies recommended me this video and I really enjoyed it. The visuals and music you put in to go along with the video were really good. One small thing I'd say is to try using different language to wrap up each of your points, for example at (2:46, 4:28, etc.) In my opinion it will sound less repetitive. Overall though it was an engaging video👍🏼

I have some severe anxiety, and way back in the days of dark souls 1 my anxiety was so bad i couldn't finish games out of fear of "Progressing incorrectly" or just screwing everything up, i played every game on the easiest difficulty and couldn't enjoy anything but the most straightforward power fantasies, Dark souls is what finally made me see that challenge is a fun part of games, especially because death doesn't reset progress, i could die and fail and screw up, and i'd be set back, but my time in the world wasn't erased by loading back to a prior save i might hesitate recommending Sekiro next, it is by far the most difficult and least open FirmSoft game, so be prepared for that, Elden ring is perhaps the least fundamentals focused fromsoft game, as its likely the hardest to beat with pure fundamentals but you have a lot of tools and mechanics to leverage to make up for it, wheras Sekiro is raw fundamentals in action, where timing and mastery are everything, it's a hell of an experience, but be prepared for a bit of a shock

Fromsoft games teach you to no be greedy, but also teaches you, that hesitation is defeat. What we learn here is, you have to make the choice. The game wont wait for you to act, so just act watch learn and overcome. Tiz is true gaming experience P.s ( this mostly applied on does that understand Bloodborne system. Since when you do you will never play the game with tactical darksouls mind

My favorite weapon in Elden Ring is the One-Eyed Shield.
@Jonen560ti6 ай бұрын
In fairness about trying different weapons, the game doesn't do a super good job of encouraging weapon variety. Smithing stones are in somewhat short supply and the only reliable way to get more once you've scavenged the ones in the overworld is to find bell bearings that allow you to buy them, but you always find those too late for them to be useful. By the time you can buy level 1 and 2 smithing stones, you need level 3's and 4's instead. A lot of this would have been alleviated if weapons came pre-upgraded to match the area they're found in or smithing stones pick-ups were 2-3x as numerous. If the game was more generous with smithing stones, you'd be more willing to invest in different weapons without worrying about pouring smithing stones into the wrong weapon. And there would be no danger of the player becoming OP since you'd still need to reach the high level areas for higher level smithing stones. Increasing the amount of smithing stones per pick-up would just allow the player to experiment more without worrying about wasting resources. And for some reason, it feels like you get way more somber smithing stones than regular ones. There are way more weapons using the regular smithing stones than sombers, and the somber weapons require a fraction of the amount of stones to upgrade, but somber stones are almost as common. I'm not gonna lie, I cheat smithing stones into my game specifically to allow myself to experiment more in my playthroughs
@hoodedbeasts6 ай бұрын
It would have been nice to have more smithing stones for sure, at the same time I definitely had enough to spec into a couple of weapons but I didn't because the bloodhound's fang was just so satisfying
@philvess63766 ай бұрын
There is a LOT of good weapons in this game. But the one I keep coming back to ,is the Great Stars. Since its a great hammer, its a beast for breaking poise (especially if you go block/counter with talisman), Its a strike weapon, it got bleed AND you get health back from every hit you do with it. You can use many ashes with it, but the one I use most of the time on it is Lion's claw.
@teriddax36926 ай бұрын
Lesson 2 sounds more like what you'd learn from Dark Souls. You need to be aggressive in Elden Ring to break stances, because if you let them, most bosses can attack for days.
@AiorosSagittarius6 ай бұрын
I've played all Soulsborne games except for Bloodborne and Demons Souls (PC port when, Sony???). And I can say, Sekiro is the hardest of the bunch. You can't summon help, and you can't level up like in the other games. However, try it if you want. If the combat system klicks with you quickly, you may well finish it in the first go. If not, you can always take a break from it and come back later. In that case, you can always tackle the original triology, then Bloodborne.

This is such a motivating piece to release into the community. People really need to hear how important challenge value is in gaming. Hey, if you ever want to take the difficulty even further, then we need to talk about the magic of self-imposed challenges. If you thought defeating a boss was thrilling, you can take it even deeper.

@hoodedbeasts Sekiro is pretty much the closest to perfection I have seen in gaming however once the game clicks, you can fly through the game incredibly fast. A lot people consider it the hardest From Software title but in my opinion it's the most simplistic. I do agree that it's the toughest to click with but outside that, there's not a lot. Hopefully you'll enjoy and click well with Sekiro. I play these games almost religiously so if you need skill based intellect, I'm right here. I don't play Sekiro as much for variety reasons however it doesn't take much to jump back in.
