I'm in college and I'm in love with my Hobonichi Cousin Avec! Avec is the version where the planner is split in half, so I use one half for one semester and the other half for another semester. It's also much lighter to carry around. The weekly pages are my favorite, especially with how many hours are in the timeline if you choose to use it. I often use the daily pages for notes on homework or notes I'm taking and organizing to write an essay with. I find it just easier for me to write than type when I'm jotting down information from a video. It's also more convenient to jot down notes there since it's much easier to take that out than my laptop. The Tomoe River paper is also magical in that it's super thin (think almost Bible paper thin), but also super durable and smooth. It won't have bleedthrough unless it's alcohol ink or dye ink from certain stamping pads. The thinness of the paper allows it to be more lightweight and smaller than an Erin Condren or Happy Planner while also giving you more pages to write in. I hate bullet journaling because I don't have the time or energy to create my own planner, but I like the style of bullet journaling. So, Hobonichi is perfect for me since it's super versatile but structured enough so I can bullet journal in it without taking the time to set it up.

Eliza M, try Planner Pads. I have been using them exclusively for years and they are great! Two pages per day, as well as monthly pages, full-year planning, and notes. The layout funnels things down from categories (perfect for students breaking things out by subject) to daily lists, to time-specific calendaring. You can only get them online (www.plannerpads.com) and they are not cheap, but not crazy expensive, and completely worth it! I helped my daughter set hers up for school and it worked great!
@abbyschuneman74546 жыл бұрын
Eliza M my favorite for college is the Lilly Pulitzer planners, they are a year and a half in time, come with fun stickers, and have tons of room to write assignments on each day as well as a monthly calendar layout. There’s a notes section, and a bunch of pages in the front to organize lists, keep birthdays, phone numbers, etc. and it’s beautiful and affordable. I think the large is like $28 and the jumbo is $35

There is an English version of Hobonichi. Also, I think that it would have been helpful if the video mentioned how planner paper deals with different pen types. Being a fountain pen user, paper quality influences my choices by far the most.

I use several planners. I used the Passion Planner in the past and I really enjoyed it until I found the My Infinite Agenda Planner. It's a beautiful presentation that inspires me. I also use the 90X Planner for project planning for work. It helps me focus on the project and has built in accountability to the process. Lastly, I have a simple Monthly Planner. I use it to plot birthdays, appointments, and events. It's nice to see items that are non-negotiable for me in one place. It may seem weird to have 3 planners, but I believe I need to separate my work process from my personal life to achieve balance. It helps me focus on both and I'm much happier.

Yay for Hobonichi!...I have the Weeks for everyday and Cousin for my teaching/business planning. For those who scoff at the price tags of a planner. Just wondering what sort of price you can put on productivity and achievements. If you have the means to pay for it why not. Otherwise when I first began my planning, it was just a simple calendar and notebook. Total cost ~$7...don't use a planner price as a excuse to be organized. Oh I have used apps and phone but I missed the tactile aspect of writing things down.

The Panda planner is really only for people who want to put a LOT of work into their planner. I think most teens just want something quick that serves its purpose, and having a lot of set up or extraneous boxes/stuff. Ex. If your teacher tells you that a project is due on May 17th but you haven't filled in that section yet, it doesn't become that useful. Or if you try to solve that by pre-dating a bunch of pages you run into the problem that if you get off by even one number, everything will be screwed up.

Just want to put it out there for the people who think these are all expensive, when I first tried planners I found an $8 one at home goods. I wanted to find a cheap one to see if I could even get into planning and keep up with it. You can find good planners at home goods/marshals/tjmaxx for cheap if you’re starting out. Also, if you are into planning, spending $50 on a planner really doesn’t sound that crazy. It’s something you use everyday for a whole year so the price breakdown isn’t bad at all.

One of my favorites was one from target that I paid $20 for. Dollar stores have them for 1-4 bucks. Notebooks work if you have time and energy to draw spreads but I never have and probably never will so I tend toward buying. Moleskin is VERY comparable to a couple of these with exception of passion/goal orientation, and they’re typically 12-25, depending on size, color, and 12 or 18 month/daily or weekly. Definitely look on amazon.

The Hobonichi is really similar to what I like about the Inkwell Press classic planners. They have two major layout styles for their planners, Classic and Flex. I HATE Flex because it's just that weekly across space like the Elephant planners. I don't work like that. I am so big on timeblocking and using Eisenhower's prioritizing system. So, I need that vertical hourly breakdown AND space to "play" (by which I mean write in my Eisenhower squares). Because I use the Classic layout from Inkwell Press, I'm pushed into using the student/academic planners which run July-June. I've bought my 18-19 version already that has similar features to the Hobonichi, so I'll have to wait to switch until 2020!

I've done reviews on other planners like the High Performance Planner and Start Today Planner, but I just recently discovered this new(er) kid on the block that has all of the mindset + goal achievement must’s in one place (without being a big, clunky, 1988-Covey-style planner/scheduler) called the Goal Crazy Planner. It’s not a notebook, it’s a planner so they have more detail in them. If you use a planner for a whole year, even the pricey ones are worth the price. Life changing might be overstating it given your displayed lack of knowledge on the subject. No mention at all of the Midori/travelers notebook. Or the Jibun Techo for that matter. If you don't know how to pronounce something, look it up or find other youtubers who do know the pronunciation. It's a long O in Hobonichi and ch as in church in techo. (Let's not even get into the rapid talk, vocal fry, excessive "like" placeholder, uplift at the end of sentences plus dropping off in volume) Learn something about the tomoe river paper in the Hobonichi as it is one of the major selling points of this planner. Also include the actual Hobonichi Website in your links list. It looks like you went to amazon, looked at a ratings list, ordered some planners and threw together a vid to hop on the whole planner thing. The Hobonichi link is: www.1101.com/store/techo/en/
