I am young, raising young kids so budgeting is a huge part of my life but I love luxury. So I only allow myself to buy luxury when we travel. That helps keep me from buying in excess on a regular basis and have a fond memory when spending $50 on a lipstick.

Hi! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷 The best thing I did was buying a LV Pegase 50 trolley, omg, you can be in sneakers and a hoodie, EVERYBODY break their necks to look at you ( specially here in Brazil) i even got better treatment in VIP lounges, people act nicer to you, it's so crazy that a luggage can have so much power in peoples mind ( and I love it!)

Yes I agree,. All the trend makeup. I just use one eye shadow quad in matte that goes with everything. Stop buying makeup . I use the same thing, it’s simple and quick. I also realized it was waste of money. Thank you, love it. 😊

Hi Melinda, I always enjoy your videos. I had my colours done a few years ago and the amount of money I have saved on buying things that don’t suit my skin tone is incredible. I now appreciate things from afar and only purchase things I need that suit me. Have you ever considered having this done? You mention your skin tone a lot in your videos and thought you might like it although I do know it’s not for everyone. xx

I loved this video! SO relatable! I did buy a Loewe jacquard strap for my small Puzzle (15% off Neimans code) & I do like it, but you absolutely nailed the cosmetic sets! After 44 years I finally know what works and doesn’t work. 😂😂 and I no longer buy holiday sets anymore either because they’re cute etc. During BF I bought a lot of replacements for products that I’m using up and love. I’m with you on the makeup and nail polish. I have scaled way down. I now only put on mascara, brow gel, and red lipstick from Sephora collection. $75 Hermes lipstick and $55 nail polish too rich for my blood lol. I’m over here thinking essie is a lot. You did get me thinking, my night and day skin care routines are expensive. I use Sunday Riley. I love it, works for me. But maybe I should take a 2nd look and reassess.

If I had asked the prices like I should have I never would have bought either. I haven't ever tried Sunday Riley so I am not sure if what I use would be comparable or not but I use Olay regenerist for day and Olay retinol +peptide at night. I am not sure what country you are in but Costco sells them as a set of 2 and they almost always have a discount. And I use The Ordinary hylaluroinc acid serum and The Ordinary niacimide which is $6 and have had great results.

Yes, having the big name doesn’t guarantee a fab product and when you spend the $ it can be a let down. I had that experience with a Chanel eyeshadow palette. Have just spent a small fortune on christmas gifts from Chanel beauty but very well thought through and none of the festive seasonal line…. I just wanted the Chanel skincare gift set. I’m really into good skincare products. I got the sight to see because it was available. I didn’t get the lip glosses because I couldn’t justify it. I would just gift it. I’m really not into makeup like that. But the holiday Chanel gift pouches are beautiful and I will definitely use it for toiletries when traveling. It’s too nice not to use.

I won't buy another Chanel brooch. That said, I'll never sell the one I have. I love it and I wear it. But, I won't buy costume jewelry anymore. This year, I didn't buy the holiday makeup kits because oh gosh the Dior lipstick colors are horrendous on me. I fell for fhr packaging snd like you, would never wear them as bags. Totally agree with some of the makeup holiday kits and exorbitant nail polish and lipstick. I love luxury makeup and buy way too much of it. I get sucked in by the pretty packaging but at least I stick to the formulas that I really like. My max to spend on lipstick is Tom Ford at almost $60. $85 is not worth it. Plus since Lisa Eldridge came out with her lipsticks ( and I highly recommend her makeup if you haven’t tried it) i haven’t bought any other regular formulas from anywhere else but Merit (which are amazing at less than $30). The thing I definitely won’t buy is luxury suitcases though. They get so dirty and beat up after just one use. No way! I worry enough about keeping my bags from getting beat up. I love all the delicate pretty lambskin bags. No way I can control luggage. Love your mom’s pink back in the background. Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family Melinda!
