100% agree - I used to bring my cars for MOT to places like Halfords or kwik fit, even if they couldn't find anything wrong they put advisories thinking I was falling for those!

Took my car in for a mot to a garage called gas guzzlers in Leamington soon after my car started misfiring and eventually went into limp mode changed the spark plugs a ignition coil and everything was as normal again also i feel like they cut peoples cv boots as my mums car failed for the cv boot a few years ago in that garage and mine did just on that aswell never going back to that garage

Doctor, were you ordered to be dishonest or it was you doing the scams willingly?

ATS Euromaster are some of the biggest crooks out there for this kind of thing they told me I needed new discs and pads once when I had only replaced them a couple weeks previous😂

I once bought a Mercedes Sprinter from a bloke for $1000 who was told by his service centre that it had a blown head gasket which was going to cost $6500 to fix, citing oil in the coolant. They were not Mercedes specialists but I reckon they knew they were lying and trying to fleece the poor sucker. When I got it home I was surprised to find not a trace of water in the oil, so I did a compression test which came up perfectly balanced. The problem turned out to be a $6 oil filter housing gasket that took me an hour to replace. I sold it for 9k after using it for a year. Most of my work is on E38 and E39 BMW's, and some of bodgy repairs done by independent mechanics beggars belief. One was a vacuum junction to the brake booster which they had broken and it had just been glued back together. It broke at the join as soon as I put the slightest pressure on it, something critical to safety and quite dangerous should it fail when maximum braking is needed. A $60 part that should have been replaced with a new one all to make a buck or to avoid paying for their stuff-ups.

Thank you Doc, another great video. It is a pity that a mechanic would cut wires just to get more cash. Thank you for this valuable warning.

Dean, you are "the man". Good on you for getting it out there. Everyone needs to be made aware of the crooks that are operating these scams. What amazes me is that it would be easier to be honest in the first place. It will be more beneficial in the long run as honesty would result in more repeat business. It is easier to keep existing customers than it is to get new ones. A lot of stuff is DIY-able even on the newer BMWs. I've worked on a 2013 F30 318 and a 2011 E84 X1 and they were not too difficult aside from the wheels welding themselves to the hubs through galvanic corrosion (I didn't have that problem with my own E36). Not everyone can do their own repairs so finding the right garage is important. My MoTs are done by an independent testing station so I know the tests are carried out properly and not with the intention of making money.

I’m trying a humming noise when I switch on AC on my BMW E60 4 cylinder 2007 car. The cost of repairs given to me as quotation was too ridiculous. Is there any advise you can give me?

The OBD scanner you have in your description is that the best one to use? And is it the same one you use on your own e60?

Hey, thanks for your videos they have helped me a lot. I’m currently experiencing lugging/shaking from the engine when cruising at stable speeds or inclines on my e60 2004 with m54b22 engine. A mechanic told me it’s most likely bad coils, thoughts? Cheers from Norway 😁

I had a garage tell me my injectors were fucked on my e91 and would be 2k to change them. Bought a 35 quid code reader and the codes were air intake temp sensor and air leak behind maf. New maf on its way and if the problem is fixed its proof they were at it. They hadn't even seen the car.

I had the oli story. they showed me clear oil on the engine and said thei is a cylinder head gasket issue. That was not!
