Feels like I just watched an 8-minute ad 😅

I didn't like this format of SaaS ideas driven by the sponsor. I understand your reasons and goals, but maybe 1 or 2 sponsor related and the rest should have been independent ones / community driven like you used to.

The first 20 seconds of the video are gold: first-time founders should contribute to an established marketplace to avoid managing the demand side of a SaaS business. Another viable strategy is to embrace the "venture client model," wherein one develops software for a corporate client, receives payment, and subsequently transitions the product into a SaaS offering. Two of the startups I advise are successfully implementing this approach for their ESG and FinTech SaaS ventures.

Good idea, I guess you still have to manage marketing/demand to land that corporate customer, unless someone is already freelancing
@FrancisCornut7 ай бұрын
@@msiblini94 Agreed. However, I would argue that managing the demand side in a SaaS context requires more effort and expertise than cultivating a relationship with a corporate client.

The idea of building internal plugins rather than features aimed to the outside is gold.

its not a new idea

We have to talk about platform risk here. Sure, having the Monday app marketplace handle marketing is great, but the first 3 ideas here are all features that Monday could and should build. It’d only a matter of time before you’ve built an app that’s redundant with a feature, and since you are platform dependent on Monday, you’re out of luck.

Idea number two with short links already exists, it is called ShortDay I guess. But I'm looking forward for the dependency visualization!

Great ideas but it would be nice to know how to actually monetize a Monday app/plugin. Can you charge per Monday app install in the marketplace? How much do the more popular plug-in charge? Etc.
@MicroConf7 ай бұрын
Most apps charge on a recurring basis, which would be my preference. In terms of how much folks are charging for the more popular plugins, you can have a look for yourself here: monday.com/marketplace

Weird video, but much respect to Rob. The plugin start is a very good approach for builders who don’t know much about Marketing.
