Either all the berries you can eat and no clay in sight, or all the clay you could need but no limestone for leather making. 10:05 "Partially eaten by another creature" Rabbits give very very small amounts of meat, and if another animal got there first, well. excess and absence is a crucial part of its exploration loop. literally how civilization began and prosper. nomadic tribes would trek miles to forage for food, and scour for resources, and once they settled on land rich in one particular resource they could trade with neighbouring tribes, and those tribes trade with tribes from far away. commerce opened the gates for availability and advancements in technology. that's why I believe vintage story's mechanics fits more as an open world sandbox mmorpg, where players can trade resources, and specialize in one particular field instead of getting overwhelmed with the work of at least 50 men, such as the farmer, the miner, the blacksmith, the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker. they already have classes that have advantages and drawbacks to fit a broad playstyle, but in their road map they plan to also add skills to the game, like in other survival rpg games like zomboid or kenshi, and to also differentiate it from the minecraft steve, who is an all arounder, and whose limits are the player's own skills.

I recently learned how complex the system for generating biomes (both on the surface and in depth) and resources in this game is. The developer has done a tremendous amount of work to “simulate” the geological/geographical processes of the real world. Almost all resources spawn only in certain biomes under certain conditions, but in colossal quantities - there is a lot of clay near reservoirs with soft minerals, salt spawns in dried reservoirs of the desert, and ore veins spawn only in strictly defined rocks of a certain origin, while the rocks themselves spawn strictly in layers above each other, due to which you can determine the possibility of the presence of ore in the depths simply by the color of the stone and sand on the surface. This is just crazy.

If you defend 1 a village from a raid enough times, you can be able to send the villager troops to go attack the pillager city from the data pack, and if the revenge is successful, you will receive an effect called revenge omen. And the revenge omen could be used to begin the boss fight from the data pack. I think it sounds cool

i play vintage story and it is honestly amazing in a lot of ways. It's much more heavily crafting and survival focused than minecraft is and your going to have a rough time starting off. I honestly enjoy quite a lot of aspects of it though and feel like it has more reasons to have several bases in it that minecraft doesn't have. Different areas will have different materials and plants and sometimes you might need to leave home to go mine at the chalk quarry 10 miles away to gather a large stockpile of chalk to turn into tanning solution to make leather. You can even have different classes so a group of people working together in a village can also specialize if they choose in a certain role. You aren't forced to pick a specialized role and you can just play as a commoner who had no buffs or debuffs, either way though the game feels like it would work much better as a game for a small community of people and i really wish i could see a civilization video of it one day. Vintage story is honestly a really good game. I will say however it does have a few issues it needs to sort out before it can get any really big followers. For one it needs to sort out it's enemy spawning. Above ground things are fine for the most part, but underground enemies spawn so frequently it's almost unplayable at times. Enemies won't spawn if you have the area lit up, but torches are a temporary light source. More permanent light sources are much harder to get which inevitably leads you venturing back into your mine filled with hundreds of "drifters" which are kind of a zombie like enemy that can throw rocks as well as punch you. Going along with point one is also the small problem of currently there are very few enemy types and it can get a bit samey. The second issues is they have mechanical power instead of redstone, but the system is incredibly bare bones currently and can be difficult to set up since the main source of mechanical power is windmills which require tons of linen to make.

It really is how Vintage Story is - "oh my gosh I've made A PIE!!" Every accomplishment feels like it took a lot of effort, but at least to me, never felt uselessly grindy. The devs want to make deep systems inspired by real world processes, and so I never feel like it's obtusely difficult, if anything it gives me more respect for people who do some of this stuff in real life. It sadly however has made Minecraft seem incredibly hollow. Getting to where I have a blacksmithing set up in Vintage Story feels very satisfying. I need to find some ore deposits, maybe pan for some ore - I need to make charcoal, and just for fun I usually build a little blacksmithing shed, which takes further material gathering - But in Minecraft, I can chop a tree, make a crafting table, make a wooden pick, drop into a cave, mine stone, make a stone pick, then find iron, mine stone, craft a furnace, and then make an iron pick axe - The process of making metal tools - something that can be done in about an hour if you're going pretty fast in Vintage Story, can casually be done in Minecraft in about five minutes. Vintage Story is a difficult game, yes, but Minecraft being that easy just seems ridiculous to me now.
@FoReJeR2 ай бұрын
Vintage story is incredible. Minecraft with maxed out immersion. Aggressive wolves, bears, horrors from the world of nightmares and mechanical spiders on one side. Deep mechanics of hunting, farming, mining and ultra-chill processes of cooking, forging and chiseling (detailed processing of any blocks) on the other hand. And everything is seasoned with a lot of visuals, beautiful lighting and a minimum of user interface (among the builds for Minecraft, only Create represents a similar level of immersiveness). For example, in winter, snow gradually accumulates, while it is compatible with falling inside complex blocks (like grass, fences, stairs), which I unfortunately have not seen fully implemented in minecraft mods. Also, the game already has a built-in calculation of processes in “unloaded” zones (if you go far from the farm, everything will continue to grow on it) In addition, everything is very well optimized (the game works better and more stable for me than vanilla Minecraft). The developer consistently releases very high-quality updates. Just a year ago, the structures for archaeological excavations were greatly updated and a large dungeon with boss was added. The game is very kind to modifications (the main modes work as modifications to the engine), due to which a huge number of high-quality mods from the community have already been made (including mods for gunpowder weapons and other dimensions) From what already exists in the game, I would say that I don’t really like the almost no alternative need to build a mill, and therefore grow a gigantic amount of cotton for normal progression into iron processing. The fact that wolves and bears continue to spawn in the “forest” even if you cut it down (this guarantees a lot of pain if you “unsuccessfully” settle next to the “forest”). Also, many people often complain about the process of ore exploration, although I personally liked this mechanic, but I understand why it may seem boring - here, by simply “randomly” digging, you are almost guaranteed not to find the necessary ores, in fact, this process consists of 99% surface exploration peace, stone sampling, and “scanning” information about the ore content on the map to find ore veins and the location of their “central” accumulation. After which, in the found place, you can simply dig down and be guaranteed to find giant veins in large quantities. I like the fact that such mechanics encourage you to travel around the world, on the other hand, it lacks the feeling of “luck” that is characteristic of Minecraft. Also, for cutting down trees at the moment in this game the usual Treecapitator works, and there are no “immersive” features for working with wood (all recipes are simply crafted on a classic workbench) In the end, I will say that this game is not a Minecraft killer - it appeals to a completely different approach to mechanics, and evokes completely different feelings when playing. Although I would say that these feelings are very similar to how minecraft felt in 2012 (because then the mechanics of crafting on a workbench, enchanting table, alchemy, as well as the process of mining ore seemed the height of immersiveness). I think that this game should be tried by people who like Minecraft, if someone is put off by its “complexity”, then in fact the game is very enjoyable and easy to learn (just like with Minecraft you just need to learn the basics of how to get food and craft things) Overall, I'm looking forward to new updates from both the developer and modders.

@WasatchWind2 ай бұрын
My review for you after playing six months - I am terrible at combat in Minecraft. I've never beaten the game, shriek at endermen, even after playing the game for ten years. On paper Vintage Story would be a terrible game for me, and that's why I held off playing it. When I first started, it really was a bit difficult. Even just buying the game is kind of confusing. I had watched a few people play the beginning of the game, so I knew what to do, generally. The handbook, the wiki, and the discord are your friend. I got killed by wolves a lot. I struggled finding food. Monsters spawned in my house because it wasn't lit well enough. There were a lot of hard knocks that I had to struggle with. But I kept playing. I carved out a little farm for myself, stored food, and made it through winter. I randomly jumped on one of the publicly open servers, and gradually got to know some people, and got really into a project building a road between our bases, and setting up a bakery to make money. Vintage Story can be hard - but it gave me that magic again that Minecraft has lacked since those early days when everything was new. It is an _adventure_ - you never know what you'll discover. Get some idea of how to start, but from there, only look up how to do stuff as you get to it - so things will be a fun (or lethal) surprise. If the game is a bit too difficult for your taste, try one of the other game modes, or tweak an option. The game also has tons of mod support to expand things even beyond the expansive base game. And like it was mentioned in the video, they update fairly regularly with a lot of stuff. The next update near the end of the year will add boats, riding animals, and a bunch more. You will not regret it - it's only 20 USD

I'd like to recommend a 6th one. Voxel Turf. It is on Steam. That game is insane because of how many quality of life features it has. For example, saving buildings. So I can bring older creations to newer worlds, multiplayer builds back to my singleplayer builds, etc. The core game loop works a lot differently than other MC inspired games. Because blocks are bought with in game currency. Doing procedurally generated missions gives money. Once a building is finished, I can then make money off of it, and it is automated. So the building in that game, literally funds itself. There's many other QoL features, but I gotta stop somewhere. Its underrated imo.

Vintage Story is such a good game. I believe the guy that started the game worked on one of the survival Minecraft mods and then work for Hypixel making Hytale, then left to make his own thing. 1.20 is bringing sail boats, mounts, and new eldritch horrors. Wish it was on Steam though, the website to buy it looks super sketchy and that probably turns a lot of people away.

Absolutely love vintage story. Ive put a ton of tine in it, wish the server community was at the same palce minecrafts is, id never be back on minecraft, but as for single player survival, its a no brainer replacement for me. Its a steep learning curve, but a few hours in when yiu stsrt getting the mechanics down, and naking food to prepare for winter and really stsrt getting into it it truely is like nonother game out there.

look up a game called ANGELDUST. it went free to play and can run on potato pc's. not sure if its what you would consider a block game but it does got exploring and kinda block based base building in it. hard to describe. just try it out. like i said its free and run on potatoes. 4 dif character classes to choose from at any time that play and do dif things.

I can't get back into Minecraft at all after playing Vintage Story. It's just so much more satisfying to survive.

I fricking love Vintage Story, and Fun Fact, it is made by a early developer of Hytale, that disagreed with a LOT of things on the Hytale project and decided to make his own.

the mouse thing about the lords of uberdark is completely a problem not in the gameside. when running any fp game in a vm this happens any game doom, cs, minecraft, any game.
@BUDA2017 күн бұрын
the problem with the mouse is obviusly because of the Virtual Machine, and games that grab the pointer, you should use SandBoxie instead to run the game native but don't allow it to make changes

Vintage Story is the best survivalist game I've ever played. It's based on a Minecraft mod called TerraFirmaCraft. A good game ladder would be Creativerse, then Minecraft, then Vintage Story. It's a pity about UberDark. It looks like it would be cool if it were worked on. BlockCity... looks very nice. "Oh, they've got dogs in this game?" RUUUN! If you've been playing VS for a while, there's few things that make you paranoid more than a howl... maybe a bell...
