For anyone struggling to find the option to convert to URP, it's because as of Unity 2021.3 they changed where it's located. It is now under Window > Rendering > Render Pipeline Converter

Excuse me, it isn't working Instead of Render Pipeline, there is only a Rendering option which splits into "Materials->Convert selected built-in Materials to URP" and "Generate Shader Includes" It doesn't even let me convert the materials, what should I do? Sorry for the inconvenience

This tutorial finally gave me the steps I needed to get 2d lights working. As a bonus, this tutorial helped me to do it in an existing 2d project I have been working on for a few months and saved me from having to create a new URP project and then re-do everything. Thank you soooooo much! Subbed!

Its stupid but I found the new way to do it. If you still need to do it. Go to Window>Rendering>Redner Pipeline Converter. and you can upgrade from there

If your light is not working, reinstall and do the steps one by one. If something isn't working, make sure you don't have ANY other lights 2D on. To go from everything black -> Lightning up a specific area, you need to give the light sorting layers, your whole scene (All) otherwise, it will work as a global light.

Nice and clean tutorial BMo! How can we add a "clock/timer" to our game to make time pass with night and day cycles?
@fieryninja23742 жыл бұрын
u can use a point light and change the position slightly with a fixed update method. Each time add a position to the current position if it reaches noon right an if statement to check the position of the sun (if it is at the highest point in the sky) then add a different Vector2 to it's position making it move down. Repeat with the moon and you should have a day and night cycle
@haachamachama72 жыл бұрын
@@fieryninja2374 Or if he just wants it to grow light and dark, just adjust the directional light and have a timer for the time of day, and have it change colour along 2 or 3 gradients(day, night, evening/dawn). This is quite a complicated question to ask in a comment though, i made a fairly basic one for my game and it took a fair bit of work lol

Question: What if you have a prefab with sprites in it and you do the convert scene to 2d Renderer thing, does that mean the sprites on that prefab will be affected and because of it when you use that same prefab on a different scene, it would be updated also? Or is that prefab will only have 2d Renderer work on the first scene only?
@VikalHimanshu2 жыл бұрын
In my project it is only affecting my characters but no effect on tilemap. If I turn off the tilemap renderer the light has no effect on camera color either. Only affects characters. What is going wrong? Freeform Light 2D seems to work though.

Ok, kinda dumb question, but how do you add light to your player? Ive been fighting with it for a while now and I cant make it happen
@catlikeanimation865110 ай бұрын
i know this is from a year ago, but if anyone reading this needs it: you can attach a light as a child of you player character. a point light would probably work best but its up to you.
@haachamachama72 жыл бұрын
Unity is so non-user friendly if that's the right word... lol, I've done this SEVERAL times, but I had to watch the video cause I couldn't remember how to do it. You know what they could do? They could add a button that says "upgrade to 2D renderer" and it automatically A. Downloads URP, B. Adds the renderer and C, this was the part that i was stuck at... Adds the 2D renderer to the pipeline. Why is this so hard to do? lol, if I knew more about editor programming, i could probably program it myself...

Why deceive? shadow caster 2d only works up to unity version 2020. You write lighting in unity 2021 in the title of the video, and you yourself use the unity version 2019
