I don't even know how it's controversial that Armin was chosen. I love Erwin too but look at Armin's vision at such young age. He's diplomatic and compassionate too, so ideal of a leader and peacemaker

he is not experienced enough at all, yes he has talent and potential to surpass Erwin, but he isn't a leader, he doenst has enough diplomatic and policitical chips on his hands to unite the Eldians, which leads to Floch betrayal and society polarization inside the wall. If erwin was still alive, Floch will never betray the survey corps and Zeke's plan is impossible to undergo. even armin has admitted to Jean that Jean is more of a leader than himself, Armin is too soft hearted to sacrifice something big compared to Erwin, Armin biggest sacrifice is just to sacrifice only himself, but Erwin is willing to sacrifice himself + 99% of his followers just to complete the ultimate purpose of survey corps: solve the mystery of titans and bring freedom to his people. the reality is cruel, experience sometimes worth more than talent when time is crucial and limited.

I see a lot of guys praising Armin as being OP because he is smart and has the colossal titan. When you actually think about it, what smart thing has Armin actually done since being revived by Levi? Don't get me wrong, I don't mean that he is dumb but his intelligence has not really been of much use as his judgement has always been clouded by emotions because of his relationship with Eren. He couldn't understand Eren's intentions before starting the Rumbling which he maybe could have helped prevent, he provided absolutely no help with stopping the Rumbling as he just got captured by the Okapi which slowed everyone down. Not to mention him having the colossal titan was of no use at all in the entire fight. In my opinion Erwin was a much better Leader and was the better choice. Also Why Annie??!!

He provided a ton of help in stopping the rumbling. Maybe the most help His convo w Zeke turned the whole tide of the rumbling. It allowed them to summon titans as well to help, and it allowed Zeke to be killed. Probably because Armin also moved Ymir as well as Zeke

Y sumando al comentario anterior pero en español, no es como que Armin sea adivino. Eren desapareció un año, cuando volvió era un asesino y prácticamente había fundado un partido militar bien agresivo, ya no sabia que esperar de él. Eren fue innecesariamente agresivo con él y Mikasa. No es raro que Armin no logrará adivinar el plan del retumbar a tiempo. Fuera de eso, él logró manipular a Yelena para salir de prisión, supo que podía confiar en Onyankopon aunque los demás decían que no, y finalmente lo de Zeke. Puede que entre tantas conspiraciones, puñaladas por la espalda y revelaciones pase desapercibido por su pacifismo, pero el chico tiene crédito. Y lo de Annie...bueno, Isayama solo escribió tres parejas medio decentes (Ymir- Historia, Falco-Gabi, Nicolo-Sasha) y las demás son basura. Supongamos que no se le da el romance.
