It's doesn't snow an awful lot here in Virginia Beach, but it certainly gets too cold for me to go out to the range or play on certain days. I came across this drill in one of your "shorts" last week and since it was too cold to try it out on the range or course, I spent considerable time practicing this drill indoors over the weekend. Today the temperatures got up to the 50's, so I went to the course. My results were simply amazing, one of most consistent ball striking days in a very long time. I didn't log a "personal best" but i compressed the ball consistently better and the accuracy of my shots, especially with the irons showed drastic improvement. I hit all 4 of the par 3's in regulation and 11 of 14 fairways. I'd have broken 80 if I would have putted a little better, but putting is usually the best part of my game, so not too worried about a less than stellar putting round. I can't wait to get out there again tomorrow! Thanks so much for all the worthwhile tips and techniques, I apprepriate you efforts!

Great video! This drill looks to be the keystone that may hold together all the tips I've managed to collect from in the few short months since I discovered your channel. Trying to find a consistent plane has been a problem since I started swinging a golf clubs more decades than I care to count ago. I believe I finally got it! Just wanted to mention that I've found your tips and drills to be the most helpful of any in this medium. Not that others aren't good, but yours a perfect length, long enough to see and easily UNDERSTAND your points, yet short enough that they don't overwhelm and begin to confuse me. (short attention span) Haven't been able to hit many balls since I found you, winter , dontcha know, but I already saw better ball striking and distance happening. Don't expect "tour" performance, but I can see better play and that means more fun this coming season. Thanks for all your help (and the price is right), you are a great teacher!

What a fantastic video and so well explained. With the weather in the uk so bad at present as you say this is something you can do at home to grove the swing ready for when the weather improves! It has got to improve hasn’t it?

Alex, further to my comment [19 hours ago]. I've just played 9 holes & found the "new" [for me] stance works just great. Started "left" first shot then realized the need to open my Club Face slightly to counter the different swing pattern. The balls were going noticeably further especially with 8 wood. Many thanks & by the way temps are cooler today only 24d.

Have been practicing this drill for a few days now and it came to fruition whilst at the range with my youngest son. I normally hit 7i 155 yards however, using the movements from the drill that figure soon rose to 165, with a couple even passing 170!!! Not bad for a 60 year old. This drill will be a regular on the range and at home, cheers Alex

Great video. Have done this and similar drills, but your explanation provided much more detail. I've had a bad back since November and have been unable to hit any golf balls in a simulator, but doing a drill like this will help me rehab (test the back) and get the correct feelings back.

Hi Alex, Struggling with my golf swing I've started to look at stack and tilt. And now I've seen your brilliant training drill. With your head not moving off the wall, and also not sliding, there is little weight shift, the stacked part. Then your stages 3 and 4 are left shoulder tilted under the chin, and your stage 5 with right shoulder tilted under the chin. Hence, seeming to me, to be rather close to stack and tilt. In fact, they have a drill like yours, but you adding the gripped down club is brilliant. Perhaps the big difference is that stack and tilt has the stacked part with 60% of weight on the front foot, and no weight transfer to the back foot, staying stacked more over the lead side during the entire swing. I'm finding this to really help me. And I'd love to hear your comments. Regards, Barrie

How would you modify where you hold it for driver? Cuz this is excellent

I find that keeping my weight on the balls of the feet from setup to the release keeps my swing on plane. and prevents coming over the top and early extension. Do you agree Alex?

great video, I recently also watched a video of Nelly Korda and it appears that her backswing starts with hands, then arms, shoulders and then legs and reverses order on downswing giving her power. I wonder if you feel the same.

Due to injuries to both shoulders, i am, after 20 years trying to manufacture a swing. I have a downswing but due to said injuries i have NO follow through. Is there a way to compensate for no follow through to attain enough distance to warrant playing at all? My body tends to pull out before impact knowing how much it will hurt.
