20 gauge ( wire diameter 0.8mm ) : 50cm ( 20 inch)
You can use 0.6mm - 0.8mm wire ( 20 gauge - 22 gauge )

I use soft copper wire. it have plating layer, and not dark by time I usually buy it on my country's e-commerce sites. you can change to suit the material you have
