🌿Citric acid information:
When citric acid and sodium hydroxide lye (NaOH) are combined, sodium citrate is created. Sodium citrate works as a chelator in soap.
A chelator traps metal ions such as calcium and magnesium that can be found in tap water.
These metal contaminants can cause rancidity and soap scum in handmade soap.
A chelator binds to these metals so that they can’t bind to the soap molecules. This way the soap won’t react with them and the soap's lather improves + shelf life increases.
Citric acid does not lower the pH of soap. Instead it consumes some of the lye and increases the superfat. Add 6 g extra lye for every 10 g of citric acid added to a soap recipe if you want to keep the superfat % at the same level.
How much citric acid should be added to soap?
Usage rate in bar soap is 1-2% of the oil weight.
How to use citric acid
Add citric acid to the distilled water and dissolve completely before adding the lye, or make a separate solution of citric acid and distilled water and add to the oils.

Excellent work😍. It is very important to highlight the process of curing the soaps for at least 4 weeks since that is when it is safe to use it because its acidity levels are respectful of the skin. If used before time it can cause damage to the skin due to its high level of PH.

Hello Again...I finished making your beautiful soap today! I got confused during the measuring of the olive oil, I hope I made the right choice. When you were infusing the olive oil with the cucumber peel for colorant, you said to add 270 grams of olive oil to your pan & add your cucumber and heat on low for several hours. Then when you were putting all the oils together you said to use 240 grams, and then you were short 240 grams so you added 10 more grams. So, did some of the olive oil cook away during the infusing with the cucumber peel and that's why you went with 240 grams instead of the original 270? And were you short of the desired 240 grams so you brought it back up to 240, but you weren't adding 270 grams of olive oil to the soap? I hope it turns out, it was wonderful to make this recipe, and the smell is incredible. Thanks again for a wonderful recipe, I just need to have this clarified , if you don't mind taking additional time. Thanks ~
@tellervo.
@tellervo. Жыл бұрын
Awesome🤗 i hope you'll like it! I used 270 g olive oil for the infusion and the soap recipe called for 240 g olive oil. I always make my infusions with extra oil since you can't get it all out because some of it gets stuck in the infusion material. This time i didn't use enough extra oil for the infusion so i had to add some non infused oil to the soap recipe to make up for the difference. Hope this makes sense!

OMG. Is it really necessary to show the peeling of each cucumber then the cutting... Come on. To the the point!

Not to be rude but there’s some people that like to watch that peeling,cutting,etc. Maybe you should just skip to the part that you wanna watch and that’s it.

This is so beautiful to watch! May I ask how do you film and change all the different angles while you are soaping? Are you constantly moving the tripod? Soaping can get messy and is time sensitive so I'm very impressed that you can multitask like this 💛

I think using a spice grinder to grind the cucumber peels would be faster. Thanks for the video. I am looking for a recipe for dry skin and this may help.

Watching you craft your soaps is so relaxing! Beautiful music and great instruction. Fur babies, always a bonus!🐾💕 I wish we could have scent-capabilities. I bet that soap smells amazing! I hope someday to give soap making a try. Hard to believe that lye can be turned into something that is gentle for your skin! 🤯 Thank you for taking the time to make each video.🙌🏻

thank you! I watched through the end. Maybe I'll make soaps some day. This was super informative. I want to let you know you may want to look into citric acid and your steel equipment because I'm pretty sure it can leach metals.
