Thank YOU, for actually demonstrating the pedal and not your shredding skills, like so many others do. We want to know what the pedals sound like not the persons' skill set. You did exactly what is needed. One of the most informative demos I have seen.

+Paco Tores Thanks, Paco. Partially done because I agree with you philosophically, and partially because I don't actually have a ton of shredding skills, haha. :)

This is a GREAT demo. Amp is miked properly, nice open chords are strummed, showing the full tonal characteristics of the pedal.

Much more informative than most reviews -- thanks for showing all the pedal settings and playing useful demo chords instead of strutting around the fretboard like too many do.

loved the demo. Really loved the tone you got out with everything at noon.

I got my sparkle drive for $12, and its my main gain stage. Its not because i cant afford more, its just because the sparkle drive is that good. I have tried like 20 drives, and the sparkle drive is by far the best, and you do a great job showing what it can do.

Just bought this pedal. It is fantastic, versatile. Gets the dirty but punchy sound in my head. Thank you so much Mr Ryan. :-) :-)

This thing has been the core of my board for a decade. I need like 3 more. There's a cool mod for these things too.

Really good demo - thanks. Great to finally find a useful demo and not a load of showing off and loud backing tracks drowning out everything. Nice job.

Great review Ryan. One thing i'd like to add though, is that i never see this fantastic pedal used/reviewed with anything other than an ultra clean signal going in. Of course that is perfectly viable and you showed that exceptionally well, but if you have a slightly dirty/edge of breakup type tone going in from another pedal before it, or even just at the other end from your amp, it brings the clean /dirty tones closer together and sounding more natural, so you can't even pick them apart. It just sounds like one great overdrive with great clarity. Then, when you switch off the sparkle drive, you still have your edge of breakup tone. I think because all the descriptions say mixing your clean signal with gain, it sort of trains your mind to think you have to have your base tone really clean.

This is the most disappointing review because there was no showing off of one's shredding skill! Haha. Apart from that, everything is good and you have shown us what this pedal can do.

Thanks for just showing the product and demoing it. No face time like most stupid channels and a guy mumbling about the title of the video. To the point!

That didn't suck! ;) Thanks bigly brother Ryan. (I be brother Bryan) There is one of these boxes for sale locally so I needed to look into it before talking with the seller. That Morgan amp sounds nice, so does the guitar. What brand of pickups is it sporting?
@kiesshauer7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And you're welcome. Those are Lollar Special T pickups.

Even with the gain cranked, it doesn't really offer much in the way of OD. It is a boost pedal that takes up way too much real estate on a pedal board.
@cgavin13 жыл бұрын
Its functionally identical to a TS808 internally. So yeah, it does TS stuff and won't push a clean amp in to distortion. That said it covers every other angle up to "djent" from cold/clean which is plenty for most people's needs. I just spend an hour really closely A/B'ing the SD against an OCD 1.7 and I found that I could get basically identical tones out of them both. The SD offers a bit more versatility (in that it can be used as a boost and the clean blend offers more options) but the OCD (1.7) undoubtedly sounds clearer and more transparent like-for-like in LP mode. Stacked they cover all the bases. I'll be keeping both on my board for the time being.

Want to get one to add overdrive to my fender twin reverb, hopefully it'll sound good
@harryemmott85979 жыл бұрын
Abraham Luevano how do you run a twin in a, I guess, built up area, it soooooo loud, if I were you, I would sell it and save up for a tone king imperial mk 2, oh and by the way, that would sound amazing

Thanks for watching! I just mic the amp with a 57 halfway between the cone and the edge of the speaker, and backed off the grill just a bit. I record my voice/the room through a shure ksm-34 (i think that's the number -- it's 30 something)

sounds like u could just turn the gain up on your amp and brighten the highs with an eq. This thing seems useless
@kiesshauer2 жыл бұрын
Well by that logic all overdrives are useless, haha. Just different flavors of gain from whatever your amp is. :)
