You can get some strong plush toy brands, Key has a mound of them that he loves to play with and hasn't destroyed. There are definitely a lot of weak ones though! Love the last point, totally true! They're so clever and will push the boundaries wherever possible! They need mental stimulation as much as they need physical exercise, keep their mind occupied so they don't get into naughty behaviours!

Number one is scratched off for me. My Dixie Belle protects her plush toys like they are alive. Just like humans all huskies are different. However, I do know my Husky is special. I rescued her even the day I brought her home she broke my gate while I was gone. Came home she was outside in front of my house waiting for me. They know if they are safe and loved. True story. But more than likely because she was abused when I rescued her and she was 11-months old then.

6th thing: NEVER underestimate their ability to escape, they will outsmart you any day.
@1093675 жыл бұрын
I've had six huskies and all of them escaped at least once lol of all the times they escaped someone called to tell us they found our dog, once! These are beautiful dogs, and even though ours were tagged with our contact information, people who found them didn't want to give them back, it was really panic inducing when one got out because we knew it would be a nightmare to not only find them but to get them back. Our worst escape artist was found in someone's backyard and when we arrived to get him back we could hear their children behind them crying and chastising their parents for saying they could keep the dog, they had already named him and everything ... he had only been missing for a day.
@DragonguyA4 жыл бұрын
@@109367 I'm assuming the parents were understanding and not entitled? Meaning they gave you your dog back? I can definitely see some entitled parents trying to keep someone else's husky. As a first-time Husky owner, luckily I have not made these mistakes except 50% compromising on the last one as in any great relationship. Maybe because I'm a research junky nerd. Why I discovered your helpful channel during the process a year ago. Thanks, Sixty! Besides this obsession for knowledge, I did learn a water trick through experience which comes handy when you do long outdoor shoots. "Typically" Wolfie Amadeus gets over-excited with every prospect of {and during} an activity that he refuses to drink water, even with signs of over-heating. He will give a few licks at most. But he is willing to drink a lot of water before an activity AFTER strapping his harness on. It seems the harness gives him the security that an activity is definitely on the cards and obviously he knows the water will give him a full tank for all his continuous tweets during the activity. I think Huskies are tweeting masters!

Loved it. And I’ve made most of those mistakes, but I’ve never shaved her down to the skin. But she has that long, long hair, and she gets stickers, poop, grass, pee, and small colonies of rodents lodged in her fur, so I do have to trim the long stuff down and get those things out. Her undercoat is over an inch and a half thick! But we feed them after midnight every night, because she’s a night-owl. She stands guard all night long outside, only going into her air conditioned garage through her doggie door when she wants a drink of cool water.

I LOVE ❤️ my Huskies and they get soooo many complements. You have to own one, to appreciate their awesomeness. You need to know how to keep them from dominating and being persistent with play, discipline and LOVE. They are stubborn!! I have always given my husky lots of toys and they never mess with my stuff. Looking like a doggie daycare is well worth it, ha!!! I am in love with my black/white husky and shepsky. Those two play relentlessly. That helps too!!! Cute video, very, very true story!!!!!! Brilliant video. I would personally stress these applies to most dogs - especially the shaving no-no for double coated dogs. The double coat is important for them for temperature control and other reasons. If course it can be shaved by a vet if it's essential to do so - a dogs health is also important. Fantastic advice 👍🏻

I can't believe anyone would shave a husky! I live in NorCal and in the summer my two huskies will go outside and lay on the concrete patio for an hour or more in 100+ deg weather during the summer. They love to bake in the sun and then they come in and lay by the water bowl and drink. They love it. Like you said....water is the key as they ALWAYS need access to it to help regulate their body temp along with the panting. Just because they look like snow dogs doesn't mean they can't adapt to any kind of climate.
@jeanburk95395 жыл бұрын
I had a lovely American Eskimo cross border collie with double coat that I would groom endlessly in the spring. But by June regardless of my efforts, was a solid mat especially if she went in water as she loved to do. She had to be shaved. We had a wonderful groomer that agreed. Our summers hover around 78'. We hang out mostly in the woods. It is a myth that heavy undercoat make the dogs hot. They do insulate. But if they mat up, you must shave. I agree about water. Must bring water for all dogs.

He learned to walk on a leash at Petco actually he was waiting to see the vet and didn't want to be with his sisters so he stayed in my arms but he was making my arms tired so i sat him on the floor and he just got the hang of it after I took a few steps not enough to drag him but he got on the cue.

You are also the removing the model look. I had a corgi Moncho, when it was really hot, I would just use his water bowl like a mini bucket and just do a light waterfall effect. Or he would walk into to the kiddie pool relax and drink a bit of the water when he was good and ready get out and sunbath run around again.

I came by a lab husky who was in the range of one year old before he started chewing up toys. He came with a small plush beanie, I think it was, and all he used to do was KNASH it. Then, for some reason, at a campground, the second summer, playing with some kids--was it something he picked up from the kids? hm--he fell into ripping them open and carefully pulling out the stuffing. It might just depend on the personality of the dog. I'm dealing with a different breed right now that likes to chew up everything. Plush toys? I don't even try. So funny to watch your brown eyed one and remember all the very specific expression my dog had. Friendly animals. roo

Never shave a husky, never yell or be harsh, you will lose their trust. Physical exercise daily, a must. Always train them, give them something to do. You don’t need to have a sled to train them to pull. Ski joring, canni - cross, bike- joring, teach them sled dog commands. The time you spend outdoors with your husky will be joyful. Your snow dog will bond to you in a special way. You will be his trusted companion, his friend, and yes, they can be trained. Positive, loving reinforcement. Carry meat in a zip bag in your pocket, a good dog whistle. Teach him to come to you, always rewarding and praising. Huskies are unlike any other dog breed, but with much patience, they will be your constant companion, as mine is.❤️

I fostering a husky and have been lucky enough to keep him at the office where I work, which has been good because it has a TON of outdoor space for me to exercise with my husky after-hours, but I do need to take him home eventually to work on crate-training 😬 my Labrador favorite toys are her plush toys, so am definitely gonna have to make sure my husky only plays with his tough toys. And being in only one yard is definitely gonna be an adjustment after he’s gotten used to running around such a large area… maybe I can bring him on field trips back to work on some days so he can really run hard.

I have a question, I have a wonderful year and a half old Siberian husky. She is just wonderful and I love her so! I will always bring water when we go to the dog park or when she is outside but being winter now, she will NOT drink the water and only eats snow when outside. People say that it's bad and can cause gut issues but if nearly all the dogs do it all the time how it that so?
