I had a router cut top of my last joint.cut one of the two tendons that extend the finger open . i had good use of the joint but i listened to the doctor talked me into surgery. He wanted to re attach the cut tendon. It was a bad idea because scare tissue prevented my joint from being movable . I think you made the right decision. thanks for your video it’s going to help many woodworkers.

Very good ideas! The common different V bits, 60, 90, & 120 and the diameter of the cutting top cutting edges, determine the depth and size of the font you are using, e.g., if the letters are large, then the bigger the angle needed to make the V cut clean letters with the V at the bottom of the cut. The diameter of the cutter does determine the speed based on the rotational speed of the cutting edge: a 1/4” bit has a cutting edge distance in one rotation of pi X the diameter of the bit - 3.14 X .25” = .79”. A 1.0” diameter bit, like a surfacing bit has a cutting edge distance per rotation of: 3.14 X 1” = 3.14”. So, when you take the RPM’s and multiply the distance of the cutting edge per on rotation, it becomes clear just how much diameter affects RPM and feed speeds - 79” X 12,000 rpm’s = 9,480 inches per minute, and the 1” bit cutting edge distance at 12,000 rpm’s is - (the circumference of the path of the cutting edge) 3.14 X 12,000 = 37,680” per minute. It becomes clear just how much the diameter affects the cutter edge distance, feed speed and rpm’s needed to have an effective chip production, size and cutting smoothness to the project, and protect the lifespan of the bit. I hope this helps you all begin to understand cutting protocols! 😎

I'm a older retired guy who never did any of this stuff before but wanted to make nice things for friends and family. My machine comes in a week but know nothing about the coding and think that will be my stopping point. I found your channel and love the way you go about working the machine and most of all mounting the work pieces. Where can I find codes people have done to make things and see how things are done. Thanks and great job.?

All good advice. It is relatively easy to create a vacuum hold down system for clampless holding by using the CNC itself to produce disposable, grooved spoil boards. Then, if you buy two inexpensive 30 litre shop vacs (take care, they must be wet and dry vacs, for a vacuum hold down system, or they’ll burn out), you can then use one for dust and one for vacuum, and easily switch the hoses as needed, to give you a substantial 60 litres of dust capacity.

had the same problem with clamps sticking above the material and causing problems, ended up getting some toe push side clamps that dont stick above the material, they attach to the sides so its still secure but they dont stick above, for me its a better solution than using superglue/drilling into spoilerboard/using double sided tape
@AndyBirdBuilds
@AndyBirdBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
Thats a good solution. I just don't like that you have to adjust them everytime for different size stock. Either there too close or too far away.
