When I start skidding out like the last example, I know I’m getting tired. It still happens sometimes when I’m not, but it’s a sign to maybe call it a day
@connorgunion85979 ай бұрын
I had my first two days Sunday and Monday. I did pretty damn good my first day even tho all my turns were skid turns lol. the second day I don't think I understood how tired my legs were and I def ate shit way more than my first time. I also decided to smoke more weed the second day cuz my confidence was up but I could feel my lack of focus and I was way off balance. Will def not get high again and ride until I really figure it out. But all in all I did wayyyy better than I thought I would. For some reason toe side turns feel more natural to me and I have to kinda kick my back leg out to slide on my heels. I tried doing it more gradually and not kick my foot out and I ended up almost traversing off the side of the run lol.

That’s awesome man. Yeah I used to smoke and ride but these days it seems to take away from the experience more than add to it. Especially cause I get paranoid on the lift sometimes haha, no fun. So now I save it for after :) also I think a piece of advice that helped me was to trust my board. It’s harder when you’re going slow but the board has a curve to it that you have to follow around to complete the turn. If you force it you will skid around instead of keeping that smooth line in the snow. If you allow the board to take you, and trust in it while keeping yourself balanced, knees bent, and a clear path in front of you, it won’t let you down. You can point the board downhill, ride it out through the turn and then come across the mountain to prepare for the next edge change. Anyways not sure that made sense but trust the board! And enjoy it man snowboarding is an epic sport

@@bigstraz hell yeah man that’s makes sense. I was def hitting the brakes more on my heel edge/skidding its weird. I’m about to go up to my resort today and try riding the boards side cut all the way through like you said. And trust is def huge. I ride track bikes 🏍️ so I got over the fear of speed after my first couple falls lol thanks for the solid advice man 🤙

I know I shouldn't do skidded turns so much. My problem is I'm not very comfortable at high speeds, so just feel much safer/in control with skidded turns (especially when the run is busy)
@FrogCro11 ай бұрын
I thought that too, but then I realised that actually everything is easier when you're going just a little bit faster (you don't have to fly). Maybe that's just me but i find it easier to change edge and I'm not so tired after a whole day on mountain when I go just a little bit faster. You just have to brake that barrier, hope that helps like it did for me. Stay safe✌🏼

@@FrogCro totally feel this comment. Unlocked black diamonds with more comfort by sending it and staying more even/front footed.

I have to say though that the forced turn with the lower body that you mentioned can be very handy in some situations. e.g. very steep slopes that you don't feel entirely save but cannot go back or when space is tight allowing to maneuver and break rapidly

Another common cause of heel side chatter is initiating the turn too late and essentially trying to do a 90 degree turn

For that last one, isn't being too tall on the board also a factor? Center of mass being too high?
@MSBorges1110 ай бұрын
Being too tall isn’t necessarily a factor I believe. I’ve ridden with people over 6’1”, 6’2” and as long as they engage the turn properly, like TJ pointed out with carving, they are able to carve and not chatter out.
