Also why Zard is a great deck for beginners. Forces you to learn a lot of good habits for the game as a whole.

Very refreshing for the new player I'm to see tips and tricks. That is exactly what I need. I've been trying chien pao deck, seen many videos of it performing really well but I'm still discovering the cards, their effect aso and having good advice like this is great ! Please do more of them and add advice on what should be improved in the "free" decks that are given to the newbies like me.
@nursejared11 күн бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! I'm very glad to hear the video has been helpful. I'm assuming you are talking about the free decks from playing on Live. That is a good idea, I could take a deeper dive into those decks and give tips on how to run them.
@ecornely11 күн бұрын
@@nursejared Yes because watching other players use decks like pro is interesting. But as a newbie, when you try to do the same, it often goes wrong (or is it just me making so many mistakes, ... might be). And it's not like you can try many other decks, or try to do small improvements without having to pay for boosters and hope to get something you can master. The only training I had within the game is already something but I really struggle to learn how to play and have a few victories at least.

at 3:45 you are correctly talking about thinning is winning, but surely all you need to put back is the lumineon ? the dusclops is a dead card and so are the energies? unless you are trying to protect against having to retreat ? keep making vids though, was just a note :)
@nursejared12 күн бұрын
A very astute note and a good call out. I tunneled on my bench and lost sight of the prizes left. Definitely a misplay and a learning opportunity for me as well. :)

"thinning is winning" reflects a sentiment i use in all card games, even Slay the Spire. I run a Terapagos variant that uses Dusknoir to snipe Charmander on turn 2 because otherwise zard murders me after only two prizes taken. Great video!
@nursejared7 күн бұрын
Thank you! It's a skill that takes time to master but is so important. You are so right it translates to a lot of games. And I feel your pain, my other main deck is ceruledge and zard can 1hit me after just 3 prizes

1:38 genuine question but wouldn’t discarding the fire energy and the nest ball for charizard give you more options since you get to keep the night stretcher? Then you can use Charizard’s ability to attach two for the attack and one for the retreat.

Sick vid,i needed these tips to optimize my gameplay with the deck (Which is the only one I have irl and have played in small tourneys.) Big question tho,what do we do about MiloticEX? ;u;
@nursejared7 күн бұрын
For milotic look to take knocks with dusclops/noir and give up prizes til you can knock it with Radiant Zard
@mawr251713 күн бұрын
i took out dusknoir for a second super rod, i feel like its more feasible to return dusclops to go down a prize rather than invest in a stage 2
@nursejared12 күн бұрын
I could get behind that. The 130 damage does feel real good into certain matchups though. I love knocking a rad gren against a deck that relies on one.
@palindawn13 күн бұрын
8:05 In situations like this, do you think it’s better to boss up pidgeot and kill it or boss one charmander and kill both of them with dusknoir + attack?
@nursejared12 күн бұрын
Pidgeot provides a lot of value for them throughout the length of the game, especially in a mirror. For example, say I kill charmander and charmeleon there. They could quick search for a Thorton and replace the Cleffa and be immediately back with a Zard.
@ChazBlanks14 күн бұрын
Also with the Dusknoir line, it makes Radiant Charizard come online faster.
@nursejared13 күн бұрын
That's very true! A bonus tip could be don't forget about the Rad Zard
@RubenMacLean11 күн бұрын
when you burn the BBP, do you not have any more basic pockemon left in the deck or do you just choose two?
@nursejared11 күн бұрын
Only choose 1 or 2 if you really want them on your bench. Otherwise, you can just choose to 'fail' the BBP and discard it. Great question. 😊
@skilldrain78238 күн бұрын
My biggest wonder with zard is, am I trying to go first or second in a blind matchup?
@nursejared7 күн бұрын
Typically blind you will always want to go first.

@piferchu12 күн бұрын
also, great tips!
@nursejared12 күн бұрын
Thank you! Look into bloodmoon Ursaluna Ex. It is a late game attacker similar to rad zard that will survive rotation. Drawback is that it is a 2 prizer but it may be a good option moving forward. Cheap and easy to get card as well. Can find one for under $2.
@loltunips13 күн бұрын
ultra ball away charmander to to grab zard, then Thorton a basic then rare candy zard is one of my favorite plays. Same with Duskull or Dusclops. Will really miss Thornton as a support
@nursejared12 күн бұрын
That's a great shout out! Great way to catch an opponent unawares. We must continue to pull the ol' one, two, switcharoo as long as Thorton boy is still around.
@filmfauxtos15 күн бұрын
Great video thanks! I’m a new player and I totally didn’t think about how I bloat the deck! I’m defo gonna be more mindful with super rod now. Do you have any advice on how to play against a dragapult deck with charizard deck?
@nursejared15 күн бұрын
The rod gets the best of us all. Against Thorns/Pult you have to be very mindful of moving Iron Thorns out of the active before you evolve your Charizard so it doesn't block Infernal Reign. Against Dragapult/Dusknoir (which is going to become the more popular of the 2 very soon). Make sure to utilize your own Dusknoirs to do enough damage to shut down their Pults. Look for an early knock out on their Pidgeot if you can. Duskpult and Charizard decks play very similar so just think, "what would be very damaging to me?" and then do that to them instead.
@filmfauxtos14 күн бұрын
@ thank you :)
@adolfoguevara650613 күн бұрын
would you still play charizard after the rotation?
@nursejared12 күн бұрын
Yes, Charizard will still be a very powerful card post rotation. Expect to see some changes of course, but the Charizzler won't be going anywhere.
@MrAnon8912 күн бұрын
Honestly I keep making setting up Zard ex before pidgeot ex
@nursejared12 күн бұрын
