i go over in depth the idea of the prize trade and prize mapping. it might seem like common sense but it's important to understand and think about during every game
subscribe for more pokemon based content like gameplay and instructional videos on certain decks or the game in general

Very informative video. I first started playing the game about two months ago and I've been trying out different decks. I've been wanting to take my game to the next level and while I was definitely aware of these concepts, your video really summarizes them well and is going to give me a lot to think about in my future games.

thanks, and that's great to hear. ive been trying to a video every once in a while, on these ideas that are common phrases for people to say but never really get explained. so im just glad when people watch and find them helpful. thanks again

@@sixpokemanstcg This man, exactly this, thanks for the video (and the Gardi one as well, heleped me think different about artazoning ralts (even tho for me rn artazon is a necessary evil)) and also made me start using flutter mane which I needed a better case for and to see it in situations... I've been playing a couple months and I don't have a lot of opportunity to play irl and discuss these thing, so seeing videos like this really makes an impact, even if there's no locals to show the knowledge off at 😂

I’ve been playing a bit again recently and notice I’ve been doing this naturally based on understanding tempo from MtG games well after many years. It’s natural if you’re decent with resource management. The prize trade is not equal to, but at least in some ways similar to using life to buy time or take an advantage in other games. In Pokémon, I’ll often chump a 1-prize pokemon with high HP, that I’m willing to bait and give up to my opponent just for time to develop the next two. Or will sometimes choose not to attack, because their next Pokemon can take 2 of my prizes. So I’d rather pass like you suggest, and allow them to take a single, or better yet they don’t have a large enough attack to even take that chump, and then retreat it to start one-shotting. Tit-for-tat seems to be the worst strategy, as the initial coin flip often determines the game before it starts. I almost always prefer to go 2nd and have the intel to play reactively rather than proactively, and only shift to a proactive or aggro strategy if I can build an overwhelming board state. I love how well you put it all into well described advice. I wish I could explain it all as well as you. Have you been playing Pokémon Pocket TCG app? If so, how do you feel about the smaller decks with 2-ofs and only 3 prize cards? I’ve been obliterating folks with Celebi. Lots of fun for quick games and collecting digitally. 🔥👁️‍🗨️⚡️💧🍃👊🐉🪙

thanks so much, i really appreciate that. i always figured some skills translate from game to game but never knew an exact example but that make a lot of sense. i know people that are new to tcg's with pokemon can often not even consider how to use prize cards as a resource. ive been trying to figure out the best way to explain stuff with words combined with visuals. it's a weird but interesting thing that im realizing now i need to learn about graphic design to be able to do what i want in videos lol. thank you tho, i try my best to explain stuff in a way hopefully everyone can understand. ive only played a little bit of pocket, i open my packs everyday but i only have the cards for an exeggutor deck with 1 celebi. i think it's cool especially as a more digestible way for people to get into tcg's. it really shows how much just taking a card for koing a pokemon changes the game. im like conditioned to expect an extra card every time i take a ko. thanks for the comment and donation!

Played probably over 1500 games of tcg online (could play alot due to nightshift) and i recently started playing again. Played against a wugtrio mill and just kept setting up without killing them cuz of reversal energy, counter catcher, and that counter tool. They didnt get off a single mill cuz they were waitng for me to take a ko, but i just keep spreading damage with munki and rad alakazam and they got frustrated and left😂 have under 200 games on live, but i still remember from tcg online how important the prize trade is

Are there any tech cards or matchup plans that single-prize decks could use against Regidrago and/or Dragapult decks? Been playing a variety of these single prize decks like United Wings, Ancient Box, Conkeldurr and Okidogi, and I'm really struggling in these matchups.
@sixpokemanstcg
@sixpokemanstcg 27 күн бұрын
theres unfortunately no hard counters but cards like toedscruel, klefki, manaphy and rabsca are the cards i can think of that mess with drago but only fit into certain decks. like rabsca might be needed in united wings for the deck to even have a slight chance. i find manaphy can help in evolving decks to make drago players over extend for the prime catcher canceling cologne play, then you have to try and exploit whatever resources they hopefully mill with their vstar. the kyurem ex that paralyzes is what pokemon wanted to be the counter but idk how helpful that is in most decks. i think budew will help too, learning to play against item lock is a skill not a lot of players have right now. with ancient box make sure to keep an eye out for great tusk mill win conditions. wish i could be more helpful but the deck is really strong, make sure to pay extra attention to their resources like switch, prime and energy switch, sometimes its easy to punish them benching an extra drago when low on e switches

@sixpokemanstcg
@sixpokemanstcg Ай бұрын
it definitely leaves more to consider during a game but as long as you know what decks play those cards you can try to make a plan that wins even if the opponent draws everything perfect and if thats not possible have to try and make them miss something at some point. togekiss is particularly ridiculous tho, idk what they were thinking with that one

How does the noir / briar work in the last game? Doesn’t noir put the prizes down to 1 which shuts off briar?
@sebastianlam7371
@sebastianlam7371 Ай бұрын
Its about the order. Yes, Briar can only be used when the opponent Is at 2 prizes. Once activated, the effect remains for the rest of the turn, even If extra prizes are Taken inbetween. So, you play Briar first. Then dusknoir to ko a single prizer, and then attack with zard for a 3 prizes ko. Note that if your opponet Is at 3 prizes, you can dusknoir first, and then Briar.
