If I had a 6th tip it’d probably be Greedy Jokers and that ties into a lot of what you said. So many Jokers just want to keep attacking when the play style should be to deceive and trick your opponent into doing something. Retreating Nair or just resetting neutral is always to Joker’s advantage and you can see MKLeo do this frequently in his tournament sets!

i think we need to see also, a non predictable approach when it comes to Arsene as in when we have it sometimes we can be too aggressive and can lead to our downfall. Mixing up playstyles be it offensive or defensive would be superb when we have Arsene instead of CONSTANTLY rushing down. Love the video Cozy, All the support here!!!

Another tip for Joker players is learning how to drift with eiha. It’s possible to drift back very far if you hold the control stick in the opposite direction after the animation is past a certain point. It can be a little tricky, and you may accidentally B reverse when doing this, so it’s best to just practice until you nail the timing (I am still not perfect with this). Drifting back allows you to retreat pretty safely and may possibly allow you to follow up with another eiha as a mixup! And as always, great video my friend 👍

One suggestion : if you haven’t done this already, could you make a guide where you teach us what to do while Arsene is summoned? I always find myself trying to spam smash attacks and down air, which has led the opponent to punish me a lot.

i feel like u just answered your own question! dont always go for the same options because it will become predictable, try going for a grab or maybe some tilts; or just pick a defensive option as a mixup (roll, shield, spotdodge) just mix it up and make it hard for ur opponent to know what you will do! 👍🏽

Great video. I’d also think I’d mention shielding too much sometimes. Joker has two fine OOS options(Back air and Usmash) but have specific use cases so players can usually breath on Jokers shield without having to worry to much(at least in early percents). Although one of the solutions is something you already talked about in the video(which is Gun usage).

@@CozyyPR I used to watch you a lot when I was just starting playing the game, I picked Joker because I thought he simply looked cool. Eventually I started playing more and more and wanted to actively get better, so I found your tutorials. Now I play for my school's Smash Esports team, and I'd say I'm the best one on my team. Recently I haven't been doing so well mentally, but the way I see it- you helped me become better at the game, and as dumb as it sounds, being good at the game even in a small, local setting makes me happy. It's the small things you do, man. Stay humble :)

I think the biggest thing is people don't use Joker's most fundamental aspect, which is his movement. When you hear pro players say that Joker is "so hard to hit" that's just saying how amazing his movement is. Too many people trying to play Joker all brain dead, mashing normals and aerials like they're Mario or Eiha like they're Ness. Joker's frame data is actually nowhere near top tier compared to others and he has pretty short range to boot. He should be played like a bait-and-punish character, condition your opponent to do stuff and then that's when you'll actually be able to get in. Literally just keep moving; dash-dance, short-hop, gun-slide, whatever. Don't even stop to shield unless you've conditioned your opponent to throw out laggy moves; Joker's OoS is trash anyway. You opponent gets frustrated, throws out moves and mashes... that's when you get the nair, grab, or Eiha.

One question for Joker. How do you do back airs off of ledges to catch opponents trying to recover? Whenever I try to do that, I always do a foreword air

u just drop down, double jump and immediately back air. its better to set either L or R to jump so you can do frame 1 aerials, which is good for ledgetrumping and edgeguarding 😁

So I have one question and I think it’s a pretty rookie mistake but, I don’t know what it is in the first place. When using guns mid-air, I can only ever cancel them before hitting the ground if I start while on the ground. This often used to lead to SD’s. Am I doing something wrong(I assume that I am)? I'm surprised that gun isn't used much. Even after the nerf, its still good. I use guns for movement mixups (Dash back for punish) and even gun wheel sometimes. Gun dash is also helpful. i think its just how fast you mash, the higher number of inputs you have the quicker you’re able to escape a grab or shieldbreak. could be wrong though and i wouldnt be surprised if there was an actual method to mashing out of grabs other than just plain... mashing. lol 😅
