I knew a couple guys in my time that married strippers. Can't say how it worked out long term, but I think if you're a stripper and at least half way intelligent you're aware that stripping is a temporary gig. So you've got to have an eye towards some sort of exit strategy.

Hey Chris with regards to the last item you mentioned, I have to say that being an open complainer or a go-getter can be a good and bad thing. I was one of those soldiers that the NCO could rely on. I was a go-getter but I had to bite my tongue a lot when I used to come home late at night after volunteering to help with a detail while the “complainer” was drunk playing xbox in his barracks room. It’s a small bit of solider politics that still exist unfortunately.

G'day Chris, I've subscribed some time back and I just want to say I'm really enjoying your videos. I was in the Australian military many years ago and although many of your topics do not directly affect me, I enjoy seeing your window on the world of the modern US Army. I had the privilege of serving along side members of the US forces and I found them to be great blokes, polite and highly professional in their work. Also great to socialise with after hours, (every one of them became very fond of Aussie beer!). All the best to you, Chris and thank you for your service. Cheers, BH

Most importantly get out and do something. There where so many things to do around ft. Hood it was ridiculous. If you can't find something you like to do that's on you. Wasting away in the barracks is sad and unnecessary. The group of guys I hung out with we all liked being outdoors and did off roading on the tank trails had a blast. Overly sociable people want to make friends too fast and make friends with the wrong people. Like in school a small number of bad people make things harder on the rest. When I look back on it 40 years later the Army wasn`t so bad it was certain people I was surrounded by, those assholes who want to go through life being assholes. An Army barracks is no place for drugs (including marijuana) and excessive alcohol drinking. Stay out of bars especially strip joints, most strip joints are on off limits list anyways. There are better places to meet women then bars.

to caveat to chris's last one on a bad attitude. I always said never gauge your experience on bad toxic leadership and your first duty station. One or two things will always happen. eventually they will PCS or ETS or you will. Personnel in the army will always change with out fail. A crappy leader will eventually leave and a really good leader usually will replace that crappy one . And overtime with your promotions. Life gets a lot better in the Army

Learn the local laws for sure. Korea is actually a pretty good place. Regardless of what people tell you, EVERYTHING over there is more expensive. Even the "cheap" suits, clothes, etc are more expensive than in the states. EDIT:1 more thing. A common ploy over there is for the local females to get you to drink and sleep with them, then call rape. It's a ploy for them to get you to pay them hush money. They take photos or videos, of the act and hold it as blackmail. Trust me, you don't want to mess with that headache.

Does chaos have a video on this?? I feel like this would make for a good video because I have a few LTs where they're never really scene outta the office but when they are they ruin the whole experience for the enlisted people, its garbage when your chilling out doing the good stuff and then LT rolls up and legit demoralize the whole group with the whole "rule book",

Dont be a stupid LT. Listen to your platoon SGT. Usually a SFC (E-7). Protect your soldiers and dont be a yes man every fucking time. Know when to push back when task saturated.

I'm 48 & was on active duty, 1989 to 1993. MP 👮🏼‍♂️. I've said on soc media, AAFES & the NEX package stores 🍺🍹🍸🥃 should NOT be open 24/07. Base commanders, generals, command admirals should not allow these places to sell hard liquor or beer 24hr a day. POTUS Trump's older brother died of alcohol addiction ⚰. I'm 💯 sure Trump or Gen Miley, the C-JCS would support it.

A variety of experience makes you a more interesting and knowledgeable person, at that time and in the future. Soldiers that are exposed to different experiences are more interesting to talk with and appear more knowledgeable.

Chris Silva I mean I understand that, but every now and then I’ll just sit around to learn more about things, mostly history. I also plan to keep doing school all the way to masters degree. Almost have my associates degree. I’m mostly wondering because right now I’m waiting on my waiver to get approved so hopefully I’ll be in the army next summer.

Back when T-Rex still walked the earth, and I was a newly enlisted 17-year old soldier, I had lots of good advice from relatives who'd been through it before. Set an allotment to you mom, or someone else you can trust with your money, of maybe half your pay. WHEN you get those Article 15s, they can't touch the allotments, so you can still buy gas and get real haircuts close to payday!😉
