I don’t know if it’s true but I’ve read that the 3.91 gears makes some people lose power, I have no idea why. On my camaro Im going fbo with an e-85 tune. Should I get the 3.91 or 3.73 gears, or should I get a centerforce clutch with a short shifter?

I do a lot of little mods but I do a little bit of everything from performance to entities to comfort. This is what I do when I get a new car, in order. 1. Axel back exhaust 2. New speakers 3. Custom graphics (stripe, fender decals, tint etc) 4. Cold air intake 5. Spoiler and/or ground effects (ie front splitter and side skirts) Not that you can't do more, this is just where I start and I believe is the best of all worlds.

I like the video. I have a 2012 2SS, it came with 20x9 in front and 20x11 in the rear so don't need wider tires but I am wanting something other than stock wheels. It had a Borla cat back with Atak mufflers when I got it...sounds bad ass, and a Cold air kit. Don't really think the hood insert would look that great on mine with the stripes I have, but I like yours. As for suspension, mine anyway with the wider tires and a strut tower brace to stiffen up the body twist it handles quite well. My opinion but you might consider a strut tower brace too. Functional and looks cool too. Just my 2 cents.

I also have the 2012 2SS, black on black, bought it brand new from the dealer. I like you mods. I wanted to keep it OEM as posible, so I went with: First thing was replace the front grill with a better looking one, - Front Long Upper Grill with no bow tie tie emblem. -GM High Performance exhaust -K&N Black Hawk CAI -GM Strut Tower Brace -GM 1LE suspention package, for radical better handlig -Eibach Pro Kit Springs, not the extreme race kit but the one for street and track use, it lowers the car, eliminates the wheel gap , it improves handlig significantly and the looks of the car improves a lot. -For wheels I replaced it with the ZL1 wheels , 305 back 285 front Michelin Pilot Sport S4. Thats it for now, but I have in my storage room ready to install: -ZL1 Short Throw Shifter, and the big one: -GM High Performance Ported Heads and LS 7 Camshaft , for a 40 hp more power. And thats it, no spoiler, no hood insert.

@herewegoagain... 4 жыл бұрын
My list, after owning one for 10 years, and tracking it. 1) Cooling is trash, needs a good all aluminum radiator. (Hood vent will help some) 2) The car has DOT 3 brake fluid from the factory, which will boil over quick. Swap it with a good 5.1 high temp fluid. Also get a separate reservoir for your clutch fluid; they are shared from the factory. 3) Hurst Shifter. The factory shifter throw is like rowing a boat and the knob is massive. 4) Air Intake. Factory air box has a 6.2L breathing through a straw. Mainly for throttle response, but it does pick up 15hp to the wheels (K&N Factory dyno test) 5) Exhaust. Not only is factory a little quiet, the metal is cheap and has a tendency to break down and rattle after about 40k miles. I went is Flowmaster G-Force kit (3 chamber series 50 design) 6) New Clutch system. The entire clutch system in the Camaro is sub standard and can lead to a floating clutch, where it will not clamp down on high rev, quick shifts. 7) Suspension. The suspension is actually pretty decent, for a heavy car, but a sport tuned suspension will definitely help. And yes, the car is too high from factory. 8) Stock wheels are pretty heavy, but an aftermarket lighter set needs to be forged for any real track duty. Pressure cast aftermarket wheels with thin spokes will crack under extreme load.
@makaiokalahama
@makaiokalahama Ай бұрын
You mentioned a new clutch system... what exactly are the issues with it & what system would you recommend? And where did you get your remote clutch reservoir kit from? I would like to address all the concerns you raised with my new 2010 2SS.
@herewegoagain...
@herewegoagain... Ай бұрын
@@makaiokalahama The factory clutch's primary issue lies in the pressure plate, which, at over 6000 RPM, has a tendency to "float" (stay stuck open) ... which is to say, the pressure plate spring cannot overcome the forces exerted on the plate from the high spin rate. This causes the system to act as though the clutch pedal was stuck to the floor, despite having let off of it, making the Engine spin free of the transmission. I went with a monster clutch twin disc system, which I bought, along with the reservoir, from Tick performance. The twin disc effectively doubles the surface area of friction, thereby giving you much better grip, with a relatively stock pedal feel. CAUTION: If you buy that system, make sure you follow Monster's instructions, NOT Tick's or Chevrolet's... the torque specs are higher for the monster clutch. Also, I would recommend the stock clutch master cylinder. Tick's aftermarket one is nicely made, but because of the diameter change, makes the pedal much firmer. In the Camaro specifically, the pedal is setup with an inconvenient fulcrum point right before engagement, causing it to be susceptible to popping the clutch... this issue is exacerbated by the aftermarket master cylinder.

X-Pipe & muffler delete. The car is super quite with the four cats. Hell, I i did full length headers, high flow cats & missing two of them, the car was quiet except it had a very high pitched raspy tone that I did not like. My cold air intake helped with throttle response at higher speeds. Yeah, the hood scoop is awesome. You will want to run the rain tray underneath. Don't run it without especially during rainy season. Oh yeah, the suspension must be built.

As far as Non Cosmetic Mods I've got the K&N Cold Air Intake, Flowmaster AxelBack Exhaust & the same Z28 Reps 9F/10R wrapped in Continental Extreme's 245F/275R. I've got the Eibach Pro-Plus Suspension Kit on the way!! SUPER EXCITED. I was trying to decide between replacing my Blown Rear Shock with an OeM shock then simply get some Lowering Springs or just going with some Coilovers all around, but I got all Impulsive & Pulled the Trigger on a Track Quality Eibach Pro-Plus Suspension Kit w/ Track Quality Sway Bars!! I can't wait. I have been considering a Hood Insert as well because you can certainly tell that one is needed when really testing limits on Performance. I was gonna go with the same z28 Style insert but I'm considering the Trackspek Z28 Insert from Redline360. It's a Bit Wider & is made of metal instead of ABS. Not to expensive either so I think it would be a great substitute. Wouldn't give me the same look as all of the other Camaros with Inserts but it would be Unique. That's going to be my Next Purchase. 😄

I may sound like a wuss, but bro that aftermarket hood seems like it would abstract my vision, like it seems too big. I also didn't want to have a separate color like black or carbon fiber. It does get wet. But you can get a water tray.

That exhaust wrap on your intake is going to heat soak it, it’s meant for retaining heat. You need heat reflective tape. Just cut my hood too, my average coolant temps went from 208 down to 198-200!
@gvaspirated
@gvaspirated 4 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it make reduce the overall engine bay heat? I'll be looking at the reflective tape tho. Thank you!
@AMessy-vm6ws
@AMessy-vm6ws 4 жыл бұрын
Well the intake doesn’t produce heat, if your going to wrap the intake the objective is to keep it as cold as possible so you want something that will reflect heat not retain it. Once the engine warms up the intake the exhaust wrap is helping it stay warm instead of cooling off. Look into some offset diff bushings as well since your lowered. It will correct your axle shaft angle reducing wheel hop and greatly decrease the sloppyness in the drivetrain.
@gvaspirated
@gvaspirated 4 жыл бұрын
@@AMessy-vm6ws Dude, thank you for the clarification. I'm going to order the tape. So I'm looking into the offset Diff bushings. Are you aware of the HE ones? I saw them on what seems to be the only post regarding them on Camaro5. I noticed that when I floor my car, I get a loud thud from bottom of the car, and it kinda looks like the wheel hop. I'm for sure going to look into these dude. Did you install them on your car? Was it eeasy?
@AMessy-vm6ws
@AMessy-vm6ws 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I did the install myself I haven’t seen that brand I got pafdt from phastek. you can do it without disconnecting your axles there’s a post about it on camaro5. It’s just quite time consuming. After lowering my car 2in in the rear I had a constant vibration in the gas pedal on the highway, wheel hop, and clunking in the rear. After I slapped those offset bushings in it was a completely different car. some bmr trailing arms and adjustable toe rods will drastically help with sloppy feeling in the rear under hard acceleration🤙🏻

CAI is worthless on a Gen5 and Gen6 camaro. They breathe incredibly well bone stock... There is literally no point. Exhaust is the same. Only thing you gain from aftermarket exhaust is weight reduction and louder exhaust note. 1LE hood does allow your engine to dump a lot of heat. (I have a '15 1LE). suspension mods are a huge rabbit hole with endless directions to go, but you might end up with a ride that is very harsh. "Performance" does not equal "comfortable". The new Mustang now has independent rear suspension. Finally. 9:27 looks like a terrible photoshop job. The 1LE wheels look incredible but that's totally personal preference. Having had a 2010 and 2015 Camaro, here's my list. Short throw shifter. It changes the feel of driving COMPLETELY. Even though my 1 LE already had a factory Short throw, a Hurst, or mgw makes a huge difference in the driving experience. Probably my favorite mod. Catch can to separate out all that oil you're spraying back into your intake. I have an Elite Engineering CC and I dump probably 1/4 cup of oil every 5000 miles. Cold air intake only created more resonance noises and irritating drone. Not worth it. My 1LE already has 3:91s Torsen differential. (Eaton tru track LSD) No more clutch packs. Exhaust cause it sounds good and you probably cut out 50 pounds. Not because it improves performance at all. Headers when your warranty has expired cause they will void the shit out of it. Recaro seats are cool and pretty comfy, but they are HEAVY AS SHIT. Lose the Recaros and you cut probably 100 pounds out. I still have them but will dump them one day. I love my 1LE wheels but have a second set of standard SS wheels with winter tires mounted on them. I had my local shop program out my skipshift. They did it for free.

Got a 2015 SS six speed, came from the factory with dual mode exhaust which is perfect for me, has the hood already, could careless about the suspension moods, don't like cars that are all but sitting on the tire, looks like something is wrong with the suspension. HATE blacked out wheels, looks like you need to wash your car all of the time. Cold air intake waste of money for the little horse power gain and doesn't do anything for the looks under the hood. But that's my opinion which only suits me everyone is different.
