I just have a basic 20w diode laser that was given to me, and I’m constantly discovering new uses for it. I just started experimenting with cutting tang holes in spacers for hidden tang knives, and it seems like it’ll save me a lot of time. I under size the hole by a few thousandths, and just have a little bit of file work left to get a perfect fit. I’ve also found it very useful to stencil patterns on flat stock so there’s a perfect clean outline to grind to.

Right on, that's a great idea! Yeah lasers are the type of tool that you're not really sure how much you use, but then you just start finding new, time saving, use cases for them. Cheers 👍

wow, what a cool tool, never seen one before, how much work is needed to put the makers mark on the computer and what software does it use?

I use lightburn and it's fairly easy to use once you get the hang of a few basic parameters. Just import the file that is the maker's mark, choose if you want to outline the image or trace it and you're good to go. 👍

Hi Jeremy, just bought the same Gweike 30w fiber laser that you have ( btw, the simple800 rebate code worked) and am excited to try it out. Love your videos. Thanks for that. Cheers👍

Thanks for answering my question. The guy that wants to mark on natural fibers needs a CO2 laser. Also, you can do painted tumblers in a CO2 laser, it will remove the paint and leave shinny steel behind

Just curious: Could the laser be used to SHARPEN the knife? You could certainly make a serrated blade from a straight blade. If you cut at an extreme angle it might leave it "Gnarly sharp" like a microscopic saw blade.

That's an interesting question. The idea of it sounds doable and I wonder what the practicality of it would be in regards to the effect of the heat on the edge. In theory, it sounds like it might ruin any edge retention properties but it also sounds very interesting just to try. You've got me curious... Thanks! 👍

Thank you so much for this amazing video! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (mistake turkey blossom warfare blade until bachelor fall squeeze today flee guitar). What's the best way to send them to Binance?

Interesting- I’m wondering if you could purposely temper the edge with the laser? Since its much thinner, it might heat up more? Not sure that would be practical since you would need to normalize the spine/handle but that was my first thought lol. Just found your channel, that laser seems pretty nifty!
