I was just gonna ask why the lumber is pink, and then I found your other video on that entire subject lol. It's great that you guys have studs precoated to protect against insects. Things we should be doing in the US...

Wow that house takes up almost the entire plot 😮. In my rainy corner of the world they advise to leave 2/3 of the outdoor space as garden/soil. That should ensure sufficient drainage.

my only caveat is that the front door is right next to a sliding door (which seems redundant), but at least the sliding door doubles as a window.

I love your builds! I have a question regarding the roofing, I see you use the same metal panels in a lot of your builds. With them mounting directly to the rafters with no layer of plywood/sheathing in between (minus the paper backing), is there no concern of future leaking? I assume you use screws with rubber washers to fasten the panels, and I imagine they degrade over time, seems like it could be a lot of potential leak points in the future. I’m sure there’s a good explanation and that it’s fine, I’m mostly just curious! Keep up the good work 🤙🏻

This sort of roofing is standard in the tropics. Here in Fiji if you're right by the ocean where salt in the air can be a problem, you can use stainless steel screws instead, but even without that, the roof should last a good 30 to 50 years.
@AlphaMachina9 ай бұрын
I think they put that wire mesh down to spray foam insulation into. The combination of the wire and the foam adhered together with the roof panels, would make for a very solid composite material.

Why is it that you New Zealanders opt for houses constructed with wooden walls? They appear somewhat fragile, lacking in stability, and susceptible to damage. In Russia, quite literally, no one does this.
@bencerJustice7 ай бұрын
