Renovation is an interesting one as it really has a niche space in gaming. These were distributed here in the UK but only by mail order from Telegames. Hence why they aren't so well known. Gaiares is an amazing shooter, well worth it for this cart alone.

Great to see my 2 favourite carts in Data East Arcade and Renovation included. Data East Arcade is brilliant. Breakthru gets my attention currently on my commute while Lock & Chase is a great take on the Pac Man style game, while Sly Spy brings back the golden age of arcades for me. While Burgertime is my favourite all time game, and its the best port since the Intellivision one all those years ago.

Data East and Technos Arcade both amazing - came with the Premium Pack which is half the reason I went that way! Definitely going to grab Renovation next that looks so good, I never knew any of the games but I am liking what I am seeing in the video. Simon man how do you know so much about Renovation? You know I thought I was like really nerdy to have an Amiga500 and now a VS; but man you're making me look a noob LOL Renowho? Can't wait to grab that one now!

@Daily Corvid well I was a Megadrive collector many moons ago (I got to 515/539 for the PAL set). I stumbled across a Japanese game with multiple manuals! This piqued my interest. I also owned El Viento back in the day (£50 on import in 1992) and I really wish I kept it! See the price now! Mental. It also helps having the video game magazines back then too, Telegames sold via mail order so they had adverts for import games. Telegames were great for this. They also distributed a lot of the Atari Jaguar games too. I then found out more recently that there were a lot more games than I realised! Even today more are being discovered as it wasn't through a retail channel that was visible (mail order) so actual documentation isn't available

These days everything is used once then boxed with receipt and blog LOL I learned my lessons with that megadrive! You're a bit of a find aren't you. How do you feel about preservation of games these days? I have a collection with a website that catalogs all the stuff, but I really would like to expand it and also add some other cultural stuff; music maybe or vids. I could pull all those little details out if you had the time? I would say write the blog here you can stick it right on my site and we will decide later if its worth publishing it without the password lock. Dude there are MILLIONS of games!! I was in Portugal once and they have the same there. Every country has it's own consoles and games there is a fucking universe of universes!! That's the reason I got back into games and now collection! Aww man it's like being a kid when you learn to ride your bike lol. 41 year old child! Haha b ut it's cool, this stuff deserves a place in time that never goes away.

@Daily Corvid can't take all the credit but its been my hobby for 40 years. I started gaming in 1982! Also I spent a number of years on a website dedicated to collecting in the PAL region. I've spent years around more knowledgeable people who are proper enthusiasts for specific platforms, so I've learned some things from them. Shame that site doest exist in that format any more.

Did they ever fix the fast text problem on Renovation for the handheld? I know it was fixed for VS but last I heard it was still an issue on the handheld making the RPGs unplayable.

Ah .. I'm not sure actually about the handheld.. I think it was patched on the cart via the VS.. though if you don't have a VS that's not helpful.. there is a final firmware update for the original handheld coming. I'd expect to see it mid December

Lol I've loved Dizzy since Christmas 1990! If you mean original Technos them no. I dont like it. I've hardly played it. Not a Double Dragon fan. Definitely not a nes Double Dragon fan. The Technos Arcade cart however is a huge improvement. I like that cart.

Dino Land (Chou Touryuu Retsuden: Dino Land) was released for the Mega Drive/Genesis) only in Japan and North America. The main reason that I bought the Renovation Collection is because it's one of the included games (it's also currently on Antstream Arcade). I received the Codemasters Collection 1 yesterday, and been playing Psycho Pinball for hours. It was only released for the Mega Drive in Europe. Tons of options, including 5 language options. It currently is not on Antstream Arcade, so Evercade is the only way for me to play it. Blaze Entertainment is currently working to renegotiate their licensing agreements on the two Namco Collections, as well as The Oliver Twins Collection and Technos (Retro/Red Case) Collection 1. There are other options for playing the Oliver Twins' Dizzy Games. Antstream Arcade, and additionally AtariAge has been releasing Atari Jaguar ports, fully licensed from both The Oliver Twins and Codemasters. They have released two so far, but have announced another 6.

The problem with Psycho Pinball is if you use a savestate (necessary to keep your highscore) the game drops an audio channel so you can't hear the music properly.

@@obsoleteworlds They will probably fix that with a firmware update. So far I haven't used Save States with Psycho Pinball. One thing I forgot to mention is that the Dizzy games being ported to the Jaguar also offer Save States,

Why did the Oliver Twins cart get discontinued so quickly?

No.. I dont agree.. that cart disappointed me. Loads of games but majority not great. The 2 games that are great are not even original Codemasters games. Plus for me growing up Codemasters was all about home computers. Not having c64, spectrum or even Amiga means this cart is limited to what was released on consoles.
